I really haven't read much about those drives but I'm putting a little money on having to "flash" that drive to a Liteon to take advantage of the Liteon tools. :) JM2¢ on the deal. ;)

And let's be honest, these are most likely the last versions of this proggie, what with BD Rebuilder being worked on now.
Also, don't be scared/wary of those CMC MAG M01's, i have used thousands of them, they're excellent discs.
i just have been to lazy to update it..lol like ya said it works so why bother..lol i do really need to update its. i actually have version 1.28.2 just havent installed it. and tbh i didnt know there was a new version of HC. will have to look into it.

Ah sorry, i'd only skimread that link. Just checking what versions of AVISynth i have, i can never remember how it all meshes together.
AVISynth 2.5.8.0. I just checked my fileserver, i would've installed this over whatever came with DVD-RB. Checked one of my DVD-RB installers and 1.28.2 comes with HC 0.23, in fact 0.23 came with 1.28.1 too according to the readme files.
I could have sworn there was another thread on it somewhere, if so i can't find it. Just looked thru a HC 0.23 zipfile i have and i've remembered what to do (if you still need to do it manually, as i say it should come with DVD-RB already).
- Just go into the DVD-RB folder, then Encoders, then the HC Encoder folder. Rename the existing files out of the way and just copy the 0.23 files over. Depending on what's in your 1.28.2 files and 0.23 files that's all you should have to do.
See if you can take a screenshot of your 0.23 files, it'll be easier to explain then.

I knocked one up in the meantime, it looks like last time i installed DVD-RB i just renamed the whole folder out of the way ~
I think i probably copied the DGDecode/matrix and misc folders over from the 0.22 folder, what i do know is that i don't ever tweak the matrix files or anything, i just use HC on it's default settings, i'm not one to faff that much with settings..

is there anything major in dvd-reb 1.26 vs 1.28?

From your 1.26.0 ?, ever so slightly ~
Quote: DVD ReBuilder v1.28.2
Author: JDOBBS
Copyright (c) 2004-2008 by jdobbs softworks. All rights reserved.
CHANGES MADE TO PRO VERSION
- Made numerous changes to make DVD-RB more sensitive to the security environment of Vista.
- Made changes to make DVD-RB more compatible with some windows emulators.
- Added support for the HC adaptive quantization (*AQ) function. This setting can improve picture in flat parts. A default value of "2" is used, but can be changed by setting "HC_AQ=n" in the "[Options]" area of REBUILDER.INI. "n" can be any integer value between 0 and 4. "0" disables AQ and "4" results in lower quants. Note: Keep in mind that due to virtualization associated with VISTA, your most current INI may be located in the VISTA VirtualStore. One easy way to get to it (if you are using VISTA), is to create a shortcut on your desktop that points to it.
- Added a parameter to the HC SETTINGS menu that enables and disables LOGGING when encoding with HC encoder. The log will be written to a file named "HCLOG.TXT" in the working directory.
- Included HC Encoder v0.23 in the installation packages. This version includes extended features and bug fixes.
- Added ability to have different 1st and 2nd passes when using MOBILE encoding (see the MOBILE.INI template under the AVCHD beta for an example.
- Added a "hidden" option called "ImgBurnDest" that, when added to REBUILDER.INI will force the write to a specific drive. This is expecially useful when working on a computer that has more than one writable drive. As an example, to force output to the "F:" drive you would add "ImgBurnDest=F:" to REBUILDER.INI.
- Modified the TEMPLATE commands so they automatically look in the VirtualStore for templates.
- Corrected "35601" error that could happen (very rarely) on sources with no audio.
- Added a parameter to the REBUILDER.INI file so that an alternate AVISYNTH resizing algorithm can be used for certain functions (e.g. converting from 4:3 widescreen to 16:9 anamorphic). The default is "LanczosResize". Example usage: "RESIZE=Spline36Resize" Note: Adding an incorrectly spelled resize parameter will cause your encoding to fail.
- Other minor and cosmetic changes.

Well... Not the best first example of an MCC 003. But I guess it could be worse considering the iHAS424 (which is an Optiarc 7241S) is better at high speed burning, than lower speeds. I bet the LH-20A1H/S do a better job ;) Probably even the 7200S.

MCC (Mitsubishi Chemical Corp) outsources manufacturing of some of their discs.... Prodisc and CMC MAG are 2 companies that I know produce discs for them.. they are made to MCC's standards and use their "methods" of production and chemicals.
I'll look for the link that addresses this but I'm 99.999% sure I'm right about this.

LOL! I've been asked that before. If I chose my screen name because of that movie. I chose my screen name when I was on AOL, back in 2003 I believe. Possibly earlier. I chose it because I am the beginning and the end...LOL! Nah, I chose it to remind me that I could do anything that I set my mind to ;)
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Quote: (bigwill68)your theory on the dvd rebuilder seprating the working path & the output path on 2 different drives maybe right.I just did 6.19gb in 22 mins.I don't know if that's the average time for a disc of that size in 2 passes but that's the fastest.Ive ever done.Lol. I got it setup like you now to see what happen's with bigger size movie next time around
Will,
Credit has to go to creaky, not me. He's the one who steered me to using three drives! I had only split it between the boot drive and a second physical hard drive before I decided on three drives! It's worth a about 2 to 3 minutes saved, on an average flick!

Been doing it since the start :P Its only logical to save time with multiple drives. If only one is used, then it has to read AND write at the same time. Hindering performance significantly...

Here's a burn done with smart burn. While much better than the one I tossed the other day, it's low in PI Errors, but very high in PI Failures!
Here's the same flick burned on a -R Verb. Same settings, same drive! Much higher PI Errors, but much lower PI Failures! I would call it a better scan!
I only forgot to turn off Book Type for the -R and burned the first one as a coaster! LOL!!

Lite-on's are best scanned at 4X. For comparison purposes though, I suppose 8X will work. You'll find that if you scan at a slower speed, it will find lower errors/failures. My LH-20A1H is getting kind of old. Sometimes, I'll get a very high spike right at the start. But if I try try try again, it goes away. Or scan at 2X. But I don't make a habit of scanning at THAT slow a speed LOL!
Ritek blew it for me though. I got an extremely ugly looking batch of CD's one time. Completely inexcusable.

Oman7,
I burn at 12x and scan at 8x. That's what has always worked best for me!
