Ye I like to mess with audio too, lol

Verified Downloads only works if you use it in the k-lite browser i think which is probably what you are using lol, however, all they really post is the same crap like tmd movies and stuff!

Hi all, big respekt to Dela!

faux-gangsta comments aside, if anyone's still having probs with Zone Alarm Pro firewall, take a look at this thread I found...

*****************************

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,5747363~root=poll,swapping~mode=flat

*****************************

I must say I didnt actually have any problems with the firewall (I forwarded the used ports using UnP&P via my Linksys 4-port), but I changed the settings as shown in the thread...

If anyone who's more experienced in FW settings can see any problems or security risks following the instructions, feel free to correct me!

Great s/ware, great group... :)

Just a quickie... <smirk> ;)

Ive read posts that reccomend setting the priority status on shared files to RELEASE.

After reading the post, I've set all mine to RELEASE status... but surely this status has some special significance?

Can someone tell me what it's actually intended for, and what it does?

Cheers,

cy80rg - its something to do with getting chunks of files off of people that are uploading from you which makes the process of getting your files quicker apparently. I'm sure DELA will answer this soon enough.

Also don't forget that you have IRC within emule and there are several emule/edonkey help channels where you can ask a question and it will get answered.

Anyone who has taken the time to read through this entire thread will have found me earlier on moaning and groaning about emule and slow speeds etc etc etc!!! Well i now believe emule is the best for quality, also if you download version 0.28a from www.emuleproject.net then your speeds increase. I've just done this and i'm now seeing sppeds with emule that I've never had!! I'm impressed.

Guess where I got this tip? From the emule irc help channel.

Please take time to read through a thread in its entirety before posting questions that have already been answered earlier within this thread. It might be a lot of reading but theres a lot of valuable information in this thread if you take the time to read it all. Finally the FAQ on www.emuleproject.net is very good and user friendly so use it!!!

RESPECT TO DELA

(jordanc aka Magic Boy on emule IRC)

You DO NOT set all your files priority to release!! that wont do any good, Only 1 or 2 files should be set to release priority! the reason why it is recommended is because when a file is on release you upload that file a lot more! therefore you get priority on other ppls upload queues!

Thanks for your tips, Dela and everyone.

The one 'bout the release flag increased my download from 3KB to 10KB.

However, I can't download any higher than 10KB. I have a DSL 256KB/128KB connection. My emule is set to 11KB for upload and 28KB for download, max connections and max number of sources are 300.

I think maybe my upload is set too high, isn't it?

How can I increase my download?

Thanks,
Leon Sólon da Silva

ps: Sorry 'bout my english, I'm brazilian :)

Well if the upload value is less than 10, multiply it by 3 and there is your max download speed unless you are using some kind of cracked eMule! so even 9 would give you a max upload of 27kb/s. I wouldnt recommend lowering it because of this though!

Hi Dela,
Yes, I'm one of those kazaa lovers that's trying really hard to make the jump to eMule. I've followed your tutorial (like everyone else :) and it works just fine, except - I keep getting an error: "An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end."
It's an error window that keeps coming up. If I leave my computer for a few hours I come back and there are tens if not hundreds of these error popups.
I found a thread talking about this on this forum (different thread), but they just suggested reinstalling a newer version. I did, it didn't help.
eMule actualy works, except the search which after two-three seconds stops searching and gives the error message as well. If something was found during these few seconds it's downloadable, if not tough luck...
I've tried running eMule without any other app in the background, that didn't help as well.
Tried rebooting, reinstalling, going over the prefrences, searching google for other people that have this error (found some hits, but in different languages).
Hope you know what it's all about.

Enzyme - I've been getting the same message/error but only whenever I do a search. It does also depend on what I'm searching for.
I'm using eMule 0.26d, I've read that some of the newer versions tend to hog up a lot of cpu power, so I've refrained from changing at this moment in time. If someone can tell me otherwise about the latest edition I'd welcome any opinions. On the occasions I get this error I tend to go to:

B.T.W Dela, what's all this stuff about a certain Emule user who got warned by his ISP or Universal about stuff he/she was downloading or already had on his/her machine?
I think I read it on a thread somewhere on this site. I then went to the eMule forum site and found quite a bit of discussion about ISP's and how they are getting to find out about what we're downloading. If I'm not wrong then this seems to be localised to the U.S at this moment, or may be in particular states.
Being in the U.K, I'm wondering when the ISP's here will/if follow suit.

The Universal thing is worldwide but seems to be limited to the big named isp's!! Quite a lot of people are getting it but learn about ip filtering, there's a lot on the emule site about it!

Hey Dela, Thanks for your help. You've helped me a lot already through your tutorial and threads. I just have a few queries about my downloading speed. I have a 8mbit down/512kbit up cable internet connection so there's no problem with speed, I'm just not sure what are the best settings so that I can get good results. In the past i have had the connection go up to 1000kbytes download so i know it's capable of a high speed but 90% of the time i get zero or very little download. I have tried different settings for max sources + connections but that doesn't seem to make any difference; the same with max. new connections per 5secs. I know that i am uploading a lot as my upload speed is usually around 30 kB. I have tried all of the thing you have suggested in your threads and they all make a lot of sense but my download speed is most often next to nothing. Thnx in Advance...

Right now i have both download and upload unlimited and "max sources per file" and "max connections" about 2000 each.
I have also tried max new connection/5 secs at 100 i heard that it would work ok for win 2k but i'm not sure if thats true. i've actually downloaded a few hundred MB over 2 days but my download has hardly gone above 20KB the whole time. Thanks for your help

hmm, seems a bit disappointing alright!! pick a file from what you're downloading that you would most want and go to your shared files in emule, right click it and change its upload priority to release, this may speed up its download because you are transfering to users which may have a part you need and you will get priority over others who havent uploaded to this user!!

Yeah i did try setting the files to release. I suppose i just need to wait a while until i have a better rating on peoples queues or something. It also could just be my internet connection at the moment as my brother also shares the connection. Can I just ask what is the significance of the max sources, max connections, and max sources per 5 secs settings and what difference does it make which values I use. Thanks

Max sources - maximum amount of queues you can on for 1 file basicaly!!

Max Connections - exactly as it says!

max new connections per 5 sec's is eaxctly what is says!
