Hi guys i've just found this thread and firstly u people are a real help to newbies like me so thanx alot. the toher thing is I'm getting the DMS4 Pro SE chip put into my v9 but i read earlier in the thread that there was an issue with playing DVD's from other countries or mp3 CD's, apparently I had to download a ps2 reality media player, i ws under the assumption this chip made my ps2 multi-region. oh and one other thing, games from which countries will i be able to play (i.e. NTSC, PAL and Japan). THanks in advance for helping a brother float in deep water.

Lol. Read this: http://www.mod-chip.com/en/ps2version.htm
The top states the info for the v15 console.
Latest slim PS2 release.
2 types released:
- Version 15A : SCPH-77001a / GH-051-02
- Version 15B : SCPH-77001b / GH-051-51
(and yada yada)
Then read the bottom..
Originally posted by www.mod-chip.com: Note: Some sites claim the existence of a v15 and v16 PS2 which is not true.
Officially there has never been a V15 or V16 PS2 but instead variations of the V14 (14b & 14c).
Don't be fooled by other sites with these claims, the latest PS2 version is still a v14!!!
I figured I'd point that out. It's funny.
By the way, does anyone have an idea of when the solder points diagrams will be released for the v15 consoles? I recently bought one, I was hoping I got a v14, and have a DMS4 SE PRO sitting at home and I can't install it without the diagrams. :o(
PS. www.mod-chip.com is where I got my DMS4 SE PRO. Good vendor.
My PSP's life: (TA-086 Mobo) 2.71 => 1.5 => 3.03OE-C => 3.10 OE-A' => 3.40 OE-A.

I had trouble choosing my chip for ps2. Crystal Chip, Matrix, or DMS.
DMS is good for their DMS4 Pro/se chip which has hard drive support (built in) for the big fat ps2 and v12/13 for HD connect/hd combo.
Crystal Chip is good for the people who want to play online. It can play online games without patching it on their hacked firmware.
Matrix im not so sure i havent really study it too much but i heard it is a bit more stable. Tokijin might be able to help you in the info of the matrix.

Be careful installing the chip its not really easy, but eaiser than soldering. If u buy Pro then install the newest version of ToxicOS, If u buy Lite then u install Toxic Bios. Theres no real difference between those two just one of the chips have a bigger memory for the flash. ToxicOS is bigger and have Hard drive support added.

Yeah, my suggestion is to not get a solderless chip, and they're not as good as their soldered counterparts. I read a review on solderless chips, not only that, soldered chips need to be glued onto the mainboard, whereas solderless ones don't therefore, it's not as solid of an installation. Toxic BI/OS is the recommended firmware.
Hey guys, might this be of any help/use on getting the DMS 4 PRO SE into a SCPH-7700X PS2? http://www.console.com/_playstation_2/ps...6_gh-040_12.jpg

I understand it's not the most solid. But my system isn't being moved around. Also I don't trust myself to solder it and they charge about 170 to install the chip outside in my area... Also with non solderless when my ps2 dies I can just put it in another one. But ya so when I install toxic. I don't have to install the Bios version if I install the OS?

The only reason y someone would buy the Pro is to install Toxic OS. It would boot up if u installed it right. Just be real careful and if u really want to spend your time u could tape the wires together so it wont overlap each other as much, which is more stable. I spent $120 (all together with shipping and everything) getting a DMS 4 Pro SE installed by Davbere. Plus the install looks hecka nice too.
http://web02063.prolocation.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4382
but then again i wouldnt get my old system modded, cause laser can be worn out.

Hey everyone,
I have a small dilema, which chip should I choose Matrix Infinity or the DMS4 Pro SE. Just want to find out what the general concensus is regarding this issue...which would you choose?
Also are there different Infinitys (i.e. green dot, blue dot, orange dot)
Hey vcbc,
Didn't have much luck on Toijikin's FAQ so i thought I'd try here again so if anyone has any info regarding my questions it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Not really sure where else to turn on this question, but forgive me if it's stupid...where can I find the modchip in my PS2? I know it has been modded, but I got it that way so I'm unfamiliar with the modding process itself. I'd like to find out what kind of chip/mod has been done to the system, because it refuses to play DVDs or PS1 games (copies/originals).
The only thing I can tell you about the system is that it's an old fat model, I have a network adapter, and whenever I open the drive, it gives me about 5-7 seconds or so put a disc in before automatically closing. I'm not sure if that's important, but it seems kinda odd to me.
I don't have to use a swapdisc, the system reads backups and original PS2 discs once they are in the drive.
If anyone can give me any help as to what kind of mod this might be, or how difficult it is to open up the system (without destroying it), it would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Like i said i have no clue about matrix since i dont study alot about them. The different dots are just newer versions no idea whats the differences either. srry.
mitch04
Dont know your chip but its probably a clone chips which are cheap like 20$. but yes most games can be played online but have to be patched before burning
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/291526
there is also a PAL list in the ps2 dvd backup section
Ifrit777
there is a swap magic where u just swich out the disk like a gameshard/codebreaker(cheat device) that can do some NTSC to PAL, PAL to NTSC. thats a easy method. so is memory card method. Yea check out Tokijin guide since no one really update this threat as much.

It would be really hard to know unless u open it and take a pict of it and have it online. if your ps2 cant read orginals theres definate something wrg with your laser. Have you played backups before? Has somthing pop up like the word TOXIC pop up under the Play Station 2 when its load the game.
