HI EVERYONE. I HOPE SOMEONE CAN ANSWER MY QUESTION. I AM NEW.
I RUN WIN98SE. I HAVE VERIZON DSL WITH A LINKSYS ROUTER. I HAVE SET MY PORTS AND SET WIN98 TCP/IP FOR STATIC IP. EVERYTHING IS WORKING GREAT, UP TO A POINT. I TEST MY SPEED AT PCPITSTOP, FOR 5 YEARS I GET THE SAME RESULTS. PCPITSTOP USES kilobits. BitTornado USES kiloBITES
MY UPLOAD IS - 144 kilobits = 18 kiloBITES
MY DOWNLOAD IS - 1488 kilobits = 186 kiloBITES
USING BitTornado MY UPLOAD SPEED IS 16 kiloBITES. THAT IS ABOUT 90% OF MY NORMAL BROWSER SPEED. WHICH IS GREAT!
HERE?S MY PROBLEM?
USING BitTornado MY DOWNLOAD SPEED IS ONLY 30 kiloBITES. 30 kiloBITES IS ONLY ABOUT 17% OF MY NORMAL BROWSER DOWNLOAD SPEED.
QUESTION, MY UPLOAD IS FINE, HOW DO I INCREASE MY DOWNLOAD SPEED??
I HAVE GOTTEN SIMILAR RESULTS WITH OTHER BIT CLIENTS.
sorry about the all caps, i use it so i don't have to hit the shift key. it is also easier to read. i have no idea why it makes everyone so mad. it's illogical.
I am truly truly sorry for the all caps thing. Lets try again.

I have gotten similar results with other bt clients.
First of, what port are you using, and have you forwarded it through your router AND your firewall?
Second, have you tried switching to Utorrent and following Dvdback23's guide *which is in the stickies in this forum* to having it perform @ optimum capacity ?
That has cured torrent problems for a quite a number of users.
*Also, keep in mind that with torrents, if there are more leechers then seeders, your upload is usually higher than your download most of the time, so that could be a cause*
