If you have any way to ditch Vista I'd do it in a heartbeat. Vista's a pile of crap that will be nothing but headaches and problems for months and months to come.

I ditched Vista the other day because it wouldn't let me make DVDs ro
use limewire. Now that I have four machines dining on a wifi spot in my
neighborhood, I have a new problem. Someone moved here last week and I
think they put up another Linksys Router, using the default Linksys name. I've been hooked to another Linksys router since last July. But
I think my 802.11 circuit has glommed onto the new linksys The new Linksys is unencrypted but its signal is too low to use.

How do I get my OLD LINKSYS back?

ripit4me +fixvts +nero recode works

ripit4me in wizard mode, after ripping the dvd, use fixvts(full movie) then fix VOB errors and open in DVD Shrink (I got errors on shrink) OR Nero recode and compress and burn...

WORKED for me, no problems..I tried all the other methods...

dvdfab 3, AnyDVD, clonedvd2, magic dvd ripper and a few others

ripit4me +fixvts +nero recode works

Finally got it to do something. For some reason the DVD simply wouldn't work with AnyDVD running. Soon as I turned that off, it played perfectly.

Ripping and burning took all of 20 minutes after that using RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter and Nero Recode.

I'm actually using Windows Vista Ultimate and I have had no problems using any programs so far. DVDFabDecrypter, DVDDecrypter, DVD Shrink, and RipIt4Me work perfectly for me so far *knocks on wood*

"Alleged loophole lets users bypass Vista activation"
A flaw in the product activation code for Microsoft's Windows Vista
operating system makes it easy to bypass the registration process
indefinitely, according to the owner of the site WindowsSecrets.com.

The writer, Brian Livingston, who has tracked various Windows flaws in
the past, claims that Microsoft is "leaving the activation barn door
open" through a loophole in its registry key. By accessing the
registry and adding a line that changes a "0" to a "1" in the code,
people can circumvent the need to activate Vista. The hack, which the
writer stresses does not really require any "hacking" expertise,
exploits a one-line command that is used to extend the activation
deadline from 30 days to 120 days. According to Livingston, this can
then be repeated over and over again.

Oh Oh. Just when we thought Vista was safe and useable, a technical blogger says the workaround I just posted didn't actually work.

Using the wizard option...after the rip it step...the error message "The rip seems to have been aborted, RipIt4Me cannot continue" came up...I can't seem to get this to work!!!

The log says, WARNING! Unable to patch decrypter!

Help!!!

MTR does work on the new encryptions. You just need to change some settings to get it to work.

All you have to do is, Disable everything that can be disabled. just go in Preferences, and uncheck everything. Also, once you do that, you have to go into Mode, and click on the Title Set number that has Parenthesis () after it. this'll save you time.

Get some coffee and a good book, it'll take about 2 - 3 hours to rip. but it'll get done.

Download the NEW version 1.7.0.0. of Ripit4me and you will not need Fixvts.

Don't make this difficult. Two steps:
1. ripit 4 me (newest version)
2. CloneDVD!

That is it. You just have to wait a while for your DVD drive to recognize the disk. Could take hours.

Either you're not in Region 1 or you missed Saw 3 about a month ago. The copy protection is similar to that in Casino Royale. It was a piece of cake for RipIt4Me. At that time AnyDVD was having problems and could only do movie only, even with CloneDVD. DVDFab wouldn't work with the Region 1 release of Saw 3 until about a week after the others. This new copy protection is what's causing problems with AnyDVD and DVD Shrink. Once all the decryption programs got up to speed with Saw 3, Region 1, they've been doing okay since. Most problems since then have been the typical run of the mill, isolated system errors, hardware and media problems, and user error.

Anyone having difficulties with Casino Royale, or any other release for that matter should check out bbmayo's guide on using RipIt4Me. It includes transcoding with Shrink and burning with ImgBurn. Those were used because they're free. That way anyone could get a clean backup as long as they have access to download the programs needed. The software is linked to in the guide. The nice thing about the Shrink in this download is that it is revised to support ImgBurn instead of the DVD Decrypter burner ware with the original 3.2.
bbmayo's RI4M guide:
http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/TheGuides/pacman777guide.pdf
I strongly recommend the 1-Click mode and don't use ISO with the new copy protections. If you want to use a program besides Shrink for transcoding, close Shrink after the quick analysis (which acts as a compliance test) and open the files from the hard drive location where they were ripped. Use your favorite transcoder or encoder, and burn with your favorite burner. Once ripped the files are cleaned and processed for DVD compliance and should work with any program.

Some people gave up on RipIt4Me too soon with Casino Royale. Due to the large number of bogus files, the DVD Decrypter portion slowed to a crawl at the beginning and the time was reading 6 hrs or more. That quickly changed and the complete rip took about 28 minutes on my system. It had me wondering at first.

Casino Royale is really no problem as long as the right combination of software is used correctly. AnyDVD with CloneDVD2 or Recode have been successful. AnyDVD is a problem with DVD Shrink. RipIt4Me or DVDFab Decrypter with just about any of the programs. The new copy protections are definitely do-able, at least till the studios come up with something new.

I was able to copy casino royale after installing the trail version of clonedvd2. Why does this combination work and shrink does not. Is this just a ploy to get me to purchase another program after buying AnyDVD from the same company.

Shring hasn't been updated in a very long time. You also get much better compression with DVDclone and AnyDVD because you can delete all the extras, deleted scenes, all the trailers, warnings and so forth. You can have an option to jump straight to the movie instead of going directly to the menue first. This takes something that Shrink had to compress from 55% to 90 or 100 percent compression with DVDclone, in other words, perfect quality. I am done with shrink completely. It is worth getting dvdclone and AnyDVD as they are constantly updating their software and have much better features. Shrink stopped evolving years ago.

not a ploy, it's a company trying to sell you a product (theirs) that works.
