Looking forward to test the ISO Hacker 2 on a Mac Book Pro with Matshita DVDR DL burner.
Someone having experience with Mac Book Pro orginal burners that don't work to burn with?
Best Regards

my personal testimony to backing up games:
have a mac intel processor. got some iso's and used parallel's to run imgburn. it worked but bogged my computer down horribly. used dagowatts program and couldn't be happier. make sure you are using VERBATIM DVD+R DL's. these are the only ones i use and have always worked as long as i have done the process right. the only problem i've encountered with dagowatt's program is that i can't copy games i already have on actual 360 disks. therefore i have to download their iso's and burn from there.
i have my box flashed with the newest firmware and have been playing on live since day one of modding my box.
playing halo 3 on live right now. so if you have the mac that the entire screen is the computer (you have the cd insert on the right hand side) you should be fine. i use the matashita drive which came with the computer.
hope that helps. thanks for all the great programs and this great afterdawn community.

gLad that you've been successful, someone should make a nice and simple tutorial explaining the new x360 iso hack.

I can explain how to use X360 ISO Hacker. It is rather straight forward. Instead of actually using the .dvd file that sets a layerbreak the ISO Hacker will actually load the ISO in the Graphical program and you check the "hack" button and it enables the option for the true process that is being ran in the background which is growisofs.
Here are the basic Steps to burning with X360 ISO Hacker:
1. Be sure you have your complete ISO downloaded and that it is CRC checked out ok. After doing this open up X360 ISO Hacker (assuming you don't need the install instructions too)
2. When you are in the program (after you click "ok" in the popup asking to donate) You are presented with 3 tabs at the top being "Copy, Hack, Burn"
A. [COPY] For most people you will not even use the Copy tab, if you get all your games off the internet this won't be an option you will need to bother. The Copy Option is simply for backing up a backup NOT ORIGINAL!!! I REPEAT NOT ORIGINAL!! If you know someone who has a backup for say Halo 3 and you don't want to waste a day downloading it then you can use this copy feature to Copy from the DVD Drive you have to a disk image, or if you have 2 drives you can do disc to disc copies as well..
B.[HACK]!! It is what sets the layerbreak in otherwords this is what makes you not need a .dvd file and set layerbreaks with other apps. Just select your ISO you want to set the layerbreak on, and click the Hack button at the bottom. You won't need to do this unless you don't plan to burn it at the exact moment. The next option also allows you to hack and burn both! This was most likely thrown in there for people who wants to hack the .iso file and distribute it elsewhere.
C.[BURN] This is what does the trick. Most users need only this option unless they are doing a backup-to-backup copy of a game. In this option be sure you check the "Hack ISO Before Burning" and be sure you have the ISO set proper. Insert a blank Double Layer (8.5gig) DVD+R (don't use DVD-R). Now before you hit the "Start Burn" please close any memory hogging programs, and be sure you have a couple gig free on your primary mac disc for cacheing so you don't get buffer underruns!! Once you have your PC stabalized click Start Burn, wait 35 - 40 minutes (when it says it is finished!!!), eject the disc, insert in your 360 - Enjoy!! (Oh... You all should also know that your 360 has to be hacked before these tricks are going to work. You gotta reflash the DVD drive in the 360 with ixtreme firmware. You can't just burn these backups by following this guide and pop them into any 360, that won't work!! Reflash your 360 DVD Drive, Download your games from your favorite torrent site / usenet, unrar/unzip the files if necessary, run X360 ISO Hacker, Burn the ISO. PLay!! thats the process of it all guys!!
I just want to throw this in there for all those scared to use anything other than verbatim, or those who think that their discs suck. Its usually not the case. Just here is my thoughts on it:
You dont have to use VERBATIM discs, thats been a myth since back in the 90's, I have used Memorex, HP, and Sony all 3 play just fine in my Xbox 360 (with a BenQ drive) I don't want to start a ruckus over the verbatim theories, i know that they are good quality, but they aren't the only thing that works, and your just paying a pretty penny for em. 99% of the time when a disc fails it is because of user error and/or forgetting a step. For instance, you have 512mb of ram and after you un-rar'd your game you only have like 250mb of hd space free. Well you might have 100 apps running in the background that you aren't aware of, and your computer can't swap to HD for virtual memory, and your physical memory is full, then you get a buffer under run. The deal with burning at 2.x or lower speeds. Thats another myth. Data = Data the quality of data isn't better or worse. If a CRC on a disc is right its right, whether its burnt at 1x or 6x!! Now I have seen some shitty DVD-RW drives that don't cache out properly and when trying to burn fast they fail and sometimes skip, but those drives are no-name drives. If you have a Pioneer, Philips, LiteON, Samsung, you should be fine at burning at the maximum supported speed by your media / burner.. Oh and btw it don't matter, you don't got a burn speed option anyway on there ;) I promise ya.. the people that are verbatim freaks, they made their fair share of coasters too, bet they won't admit to it though, they'll all say yea but i had less coasters with the verbatims.. Know why? they paid a big price, they follow the steps a bit closer because they know that they mighta just f**ked it up with the other brand discs haha.. Hope this helped guys!!

i've always been told to use Memorex for all my burnt games. i have a modded wii and 360 and they all seem to work fine. for the wii, i use the Memorex DVD-Rs and for 360, they're all Memorex DL's. my guy who flashed my system also burnt me all my games. this was my first time and anyone who reads your tutorial will completely understand it. thanks for puttin it up and for all the help. i was dying cause my DL burner is on my macbook pro. the game is workin great! thanks again!

Maazer: I am really glad that it helped and I tried to explain as much in detail without getting to technical about things as I could. I know there are a lot of people that don't fully understand thing's like layerbreaks, and that is exactly what software like this is made for! And using the GUI should be just as I laid it out in the HOWTO there.
If you really wanna get into some messy stuff try reading up on the Linux forums for hacking the DVD Drive and burning backups. Thank God for MAC OSX sometimes and of course coders like dagowatt!!

yeah, its not too difficult when you have great software like that to use. the only thing i'm worried about is getting booted from LIVE with the disc i just made. the source where i downloaded it from says it was already patched and suitable for the stealthed firmware flash i currently have.
also, if i copy a hard copy 360 game to my mac, then hack and copy it to a DL disc, is there any way i can still get caught if i have the stealth firmware flash?

The bans that Xbox Live does is pretty hi-tech, the xbox 360 kernel was built to log any kind of modifications done to the console and save them in the system rom. Like when you modify your DVD drive to play backups, the kernel sees that it was booted without the DVD drive and makes an error log saved to the system. Your 360 is authorizing Microsoft to check these logs when you connect to xboxlive. Live randomly sends out request for your system information and your system event logs and if they appear to be modified your system is flagged as a modified system. This is just the way Microsoft is, I feel that it is none of their business, we paid for this, we own the dvd drive in the 360, we own the 360, we can modify it the way we wish, we pay them for their xbox live service, so why should they care? Well they do, and when they do the bans it just makes them lose money.
The thing about it though, Xbox hasn't been banning lately that I know of. I played Devil May Cry 4 on XBL 3 days before it was released in the USA, a year ago that would have been an automatic ban! I still have no ban! See there was a big hype about a year ago, when everyone was getting banned from xbox live, since then a lot of things have changed. The ixtreme firmware you have on your drive is a lot more secure on live than the old xtreme firmware was. The stealth you patch your games with makes it a lot harder for MS to detect the game isn't original. Now the only way they are doing bans is based on kernel event logs, and you can usually call and complain that your xbox was broken and you had to replace the dvd drive, and they'll unban you. With the new ixtreme firmware though, its very unlikely that your going to be singled out with a ban. Just be sure you use XDVDMulleter or Xbox Backup Creator (XBC) to ensure that your iso is stealth patched! the Ixtreme firmware was created simply for people who wanted to play on Live. the I in it means Internet I'm pretty sure ;) I haven't heard of many ppl at all getting banned as long as they are using Ixtreme and stealthed game patches!
This all kinda goes back to my original question about people verifying ISO's with XDVDmulleter on mac. What do you use? Don't just rely on the .nfo that says it was patched and working, sometimes those are wrong! Always run a check on your downloaded .iso before you burn, or you may be getting a coaster, or you may get your xbox 360 banned!!

i'm not at all sure. I go to a guy to do this stuff for me and get games from. Figuring i have Ixtreme, i wanted to burn my own games at home on my mac's DL drive. he gave me a few patched games and i havent had a problem at all on LIVE. the ISO i downloaded was patched with DMI and PFI and pre-patched with SS. i used IsoHacker to burn. everything worked great. How is XDVDmulleter?

XDVDMulleter is a perfect app for checking and validating the Data and ISO size. It tells you what region the iso is playable in, tells you if it is ixtreme compatible, and just lets you know everything about the ISO before you burn! It is a really really must have for the do-it-yourselfer and for anyone who downloads games!!

The bunch of files should go in their own directory / folder, one of those bunch of files should be a .exe file which is the program, just run it. Click the View ISO Details option, then load the .iso and click continue. The next screen will tell you the compatibilities .

I have developed a new Mac Xbox 360 ISO Utility (OSx360)... Before I tell you about it, let me tell you what the other mac tools do wrong. I'm not knocking them, just saying what I don't like about them.
-X360 ISO Hacker and iBurn360 don't verify the disc image.
-X360 ISO Hacker modifies the disc image to force a layer break. This causes them to be corrupt if used on a pc.
-No other mac tool performs any Stealth checks!
I have used all the mac Xbox 360 Tools available, and they all do what they say. My problem is that PC's have much better software available. I set out to make a Mac program that does what the PC programs do.
I am currently working with Redline99 (developer of Xbox Backup Creator), and I am also using source code from BadSheepy (developer of XDVDMulleter). I also have a few beta testers to help resolve issues.
OSx360 Features:
-Burns Xbox 360 Disc Images without modification or patching.
-Uses Apple's DiscRecording.Framework (same as Disk Utility).
-Can also use growisofs (a *nix tool that can burn DVD's with a manual layer break)
-Verifies Xbox 1, Xbox 1 Xtreme, and Xbox 360 disc images.
-Performs stealth checks, and reports stealth validation. (Xbox 1 Xtreme, Xbox 360)
-Allows burning disc image even if invalid (some disc images may report invalid when not).
-Checks Region Flags of disc images. (Xbox 360 only)
Many more features are coming soon including:
-Xbox 360 Orignal Disk ripping via KREON Drives
-Xbox File System Extraction (Partially Complete)
-Additional Stealth Checks
-Disc Image Stealth Extraction/Injection (Extraction is Complete)
-Disc Image Rebuilding
This software is still in a test phase, but is very functional. I only say it's a test version because of it's limited testing and my constant improvement. Please help me improve the software to make it comparable to it's PC counter parts!

I will keep everyone at afterdawn posted. I have been posting in other forums, but when searching for "burn xbox 360 iso mac" in google, this was the second hit. I hope I can get lots of support from here. So far, most of the bugs reported by users have been fixed and today was the first successful burn with OSx360 on 10.4 ppc (The code to burn the dvd would have worked fine, the problem was some GUI code).
For a project that was started less than a month ago, it has grown with leaps and bounds!
I am glad to be part of the AfterDawn community. I have sat on the sidelines too long. This is my gift to you all!

Before I start working on this, does anyone want OSx360 to support burning non-stealth xbox 1 images that are compatible with xtreme 5.x firmware?
Personally, I have no use for this but others might. There really is no need to do this since any burning program will write xbox 1 disc images with no issue. I am assuming most users have iXtreme which will not support non-stealth discs.

that's about it... It will tell you if the image is not stealth or valid, and ask if you wish to continue.
You can open the image from the open panel or drag and drop.
It's pretty simple, give it a go!
