I have a Mac intel with DL burner and PC with DL burner. I have bought a stupid ass external burner for the PC ( HP ) and I cannot change the bitsetting in imgburn coz of the damn firmware, so unless im want to crossflash to lite-on or buy yet another burner, im gonna have to go with the Mac.. dont get me wrong, i love mac and use it all the time..
I have a 360 with NME chip ( guess what, because of the HP burner, i have not been able to burn nothing but coasters, eventhough I can change layer break and all)
Is the right way then to use the PC to patch the iso with NMEassociator, move the iso to a NTFS formatted external HDD and over to my Mac, where I can burn the game using iburn? Can parallels be used instead?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

after many attempts and trials i finally backed up my first game.
i'm running a 2.16 Ghz INtel Core 2 Duo Mac. i downloaded Parallels and imgburn. i manually inserted the layer break and used the burner that came with the Mac. didn't take too long, but i was afraid i would have to buy an external burner but the one that Mac provided is more than sufficient.

Nice! Congrats.. Well I have the same equipment as you, yet when I lauch imgburn in parallels, no burner appears?! Think I read somewhere that parallels dosnt support burning. Perhaps I need a newer version.. Did you have to change some settings in paralles for it to detect you burner?

Are your guys´ 360s flashed with extreme or a NME modchip or something else?
Linkj did you have to change the booktype / bitsetting in imgburn prior to burning? When I used imgburn on a PC, the reason I was getting coasters was, according to imgburn support forum, that I was not able to change the book-type on my HP 1040e burner. Now on the Mac I still cant change the booktype with my matshita burner?! It just says "unknown (failed)". So im obviously afraid of yet another DL in the bin.. If anyone is opening a bar I can supply the coasters :o(
It so ridiculous... I think I have tried everything, but none of my friends have a modded 360, so I have never been able to test my 360 with a known working backup, just to see if the chip is installed correctly. Anoyone in Denmark, who can lend my a copy :o)

Brave testers wanted for X360 ISO Hacker utility!
I figured out how can we write XBox360 ISOs without setting LayerBreak.
I think this method works with lot of DVD burner except Toast.
I tested some games and each game works with my XBox (TS DVD ROM) except one, but I tried Burn the original ISO with imgburn under XP and I got the same result (the 2 disks is working on XBox with BenQ DVD ROM).
I suggest you to burn hacked iso with Burn.app which is free (donateware).
I have no PPC Mac, every test made on my MacBook (USB LG drive) and Hackintosh (NEC drive). If you have PPC Mac, before you start burn image to media check the file size in Byte. If you get 7,838,760,960 Byte, your ISO is burnable.
Only one more thing: X360 ISO Hacker is not making backup from you original ISO!
More info and download: http://www.wattks.com (The downloaded package has 2 contenst Burn.app and X360 ISO Hacker.app)

dagowatt, thats pretty cool but one thing, i hacked the iso i go to burn it in Burn.app and how do I burn it? Like what type of file, obviously data but then wat, theres a couple of options. which one do i choose?
Mac (HFS+):
HFS+ is the most used format on Macs. Most other operating systems don't recognize HFS+ disks.
Wiki
PC (Joliet):
Joliet more frequently used then HFS+. Most operating systems and devices recognize joliet.
Wiki
DVD (UDF)*:
UDF is developed to be the replacement of joliet and used on DVD disks. UDF keeps recourceforks intact. Most newer operating systems recognize UDF.
Wiki
Mac + PC:
Both HFS+ and joliet on one disk. Usefull for using on Macs and PCs without losing Mac specific properties.
DVD-Video*:
Mostly used on DVD Video disks.
*Panther users:
UDF burning and creating images isn't supported by Apple in Panther.

Im about to go Mac :)
However I have a Samsung SDH162C for using with 360 disks.
Can I use this and use a IDE to USB cable for connecting to a iMac (the new ones)
I could then boot into windows on the iMac and use the SDH162 drive as an externl drive stillfor backups?
hope so
cheers

I used the tool from wattks to burn two xbox 360 backup and they all failed! Both discs contains wrong layer break, I then use imgburn on my pc to make the image files of the two backups and re-burned them using imgburn with correct layer break and they worked. My xbox drive is a hitachi. Anybody knows what's going on? Thanks.

Please Write your config: Intel or PPC?
Did you check the Hacked ISO file size? The right size is 7,838,760,960 Byte!
I made every game with this tool without problem. Tested Hitachi, Samsung and Benq drives.

What a dumb ass I am. I didn't see there's a xbox iso hacker in the downloaded file.
I just used that tool to hack the iso first then ran Burn.app to burn it, it worked like a charm.
Thanks for your help!!!

How copy X360 DVD with MAC (Not original Game):
Insert your Game DVD into the DVD drive, start Terminal.app, type:
cd Desktop (or any other path, where you want to rip your game)
drutil status
You can fin your device ID. (/dev/diskX, where X is your DVD ID)
Now, unmount the disk:
diskutil unmountDisk /dev/diskX
Create ISO file:
dd if=/dev/diskX of=file.iso bs=2048
When dd is finished working
Start X360 ISO Hacker.app
Hack your ISO file and Burn it with Burn.app

That really works? And are these rips as safe as all the scene released rips?
And when you say not original game does that mean it wont work with an original?
