I think the HD3870s are priced about right, they're a bit slower than the 8800GTs, but they're a bit cheaper.

I think I totally overestimated how old the people on here were. haha. You guys seemed like people in your 30s or 40s, but to think I may actually be older than you!? Makes me feel kind of stupid..

Bro I don't even have a job and I can make about a grand a month.
You just have to know supply and demand. Also a tip, look for cheap stuff on craigslist.

You mean con people?
For starters, there is no craigslist in the UK and second, I don't have sufficient capital to start doing things like that.

I think that's a valid claim. Running an HD2900XT instead of an HD3870, whilst achieving a similar level of performance (in fact slightly less) will cost you an extra $70 a year, assuming you game for an average of 4 hours a day, and your PC is on 12 hours a day.

i can't remember when, i shut down my computer for 2 - 3 days because internet is off, and that month the elec bill was much lower than it used to be when my pc is on 24/7...
anyways i asked this before, i'm looking for a 2x 2GB of ram...and i found this one
G.Skill - F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ
this one seems pretty good and a good price...

It's CAS5 so it's low performance budget stuff, but it'll get you by I suppose. CAS4 RAM really isn't expensive though, so why not go for it?

You won't notice a difference in performance between CAS4 and CAS5 really. So if you want to get it, go for it.

Mmm, Intel Extreme Suck.
I had integrated graphics up until 2002, when I bought a Geforce 4MX. I was proud of it at the time, little did I know how ass it was!

Ugh... The GeForce 4 MX was a mistake...
That's why we have threads like this: to show the strength of budget computers. So people like GTR35(who is apparently dissatisfied with his computer) can make smart choices buying computers and parts.

Indeed. Never mind, it served me well until my X800 pro though. I never used to play any demanding games. The only reason I upgraded from integrated Rage Pro to the 4MX (PCI) was so I could run Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. I got my second PC in January 2004 (it had a 256MB Radeon 9200 for AGP), and for my 16th birthday in may of that year, I got UT2004. The first real PC FPS I'd played apart from Doom 2. The performance I got from the game was surprisingly satisfactory up until I got my new monitor (a Viewsonic E92f+ CRT), and was suddenly able to play at a resolution of 2048x1536. Suddenly the 9200 couldn't keep up, hence the X800 which came in September 04. That lasted until my current PC was bought in June 06, with the X1900XT I still use.

Omg it's becoming a contest >.< lol
Back to the subject at hand.
Sam, will you be buying an HD3870 or an 8800GT? I think they might be a solid upgrade choice. Though, if you're satisfied with your X1900XT, what's the point? lol
