*except the bonus movies*
*NOTE*
This fix does not work for use on a HDD only
for dvd-r backup

All credits go to SONIX.
His website is:
http://www.backuptools.co.uk/

Apache 2 and other tools can be found at the above address

For those of you with swap magic disks 3.0 and lower.
You have to use dvd loader to boot.

You will need
1)dvd decrypter
2)cddvdgen
3)apache 2 <---ps2nfo.com
4)SONIX GOD OF WAR TOOL (availible at his website)

First open dvd decrypter and decrypt the .iso
to your hdd.

A complete .iso of 7.97gb is what you need to
extract both layers.

You have to use apache 2 to extract both layers.
The files must be placed together and fully
extracted (not in .iso form).

(Iso-buster will not work as it wont extract the
second layer.

Extract both layers of the dvd9 into the same directory.

You are looking for 16 files 7.97 gb
(make sure you got pak2 file from layer 1 and
place in same directory as the other files)
Run the tool click browse, select the GODOFWAR.TOC file and click extract button.
Sit back and wait....
Once all files have been extracted you may notice that the total size of files extracted is smaller than the two large files, this is because there are many dupes inside the large files.
To make a working dvd5 backup, delete all files with the extension *.PSW and delete all the BONUS*.PSS files too. That should leave you with a folder size of about 3.5GIG.
Run the tool again, select the GODOFWAR.TOC file and click rebuild button.
Sit back and wait...
After a while the relink screen will popup, first, click the 'Auto-Relink Dupes' button and that will take care of most of the relinking.. the rest of relinking needs to be done manually. Relink all the *.PSW files to their *.PSS counterparts, e.g.
relink A01P01.PSW to A01P01.PSS. Relink all the missing BONUS*.PSS files to any available PSS file you want.
Once all files are relinked you can close the tool.

You will now have 2 new files in the game folder:
GODOFWAR.TOC_NEW
PART1.PAK_NEW

Delete the original PART1.PAK, PART2.PAK and GODOFWAR.TOC files and rename the new files to remove the _NEW from their names. Delete the 'Extracted' folder.

a) OPEN CDVDGEN.
b) SELECT ?CREATE NEW PROJECT? AND THEN SELECT ?DVD-ROM
MASTER DISC?. DRAG CDVDGEN TO THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR
SCREEN.
c) NAVIGATE TO THE FOLDER THAT YOU CREATED ON YOUR HARD
DRIVE BACK IN STEP 2 AND OPEN IT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN.
d) PLACE THE FILES INTO THE SAME ORDER AS THEY WERE ON THE GAME DISK .
e) CLICK ON EDIT > SELECT ALL.
f) DRAG ALL THE FILES INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF CDVDGEN.
g) LOOK FOR A SLUS OR SLES FILE AND WRITE DOWN THE FULL NAME AND THEN CLICK ON THE ?VOLUME? TAB IN CDVDGEN.
h)TYPE SLUS OR SLES (WHICHEVER YOUR FILE NAME IS) INTO THE 1ST BOX NEAR "DISC NAME"
i) TYPE ALL OF THE NUMBERS FROM YOUR FILE NAME, WITHOUT THE PERIOD, INTO THE 2ND BOX.
j) TYPE PLAYSTATION FOR THE PRODUCER NAME AND SELECT THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE AREA.
k)CLICK ON "REC...".
l)SELECT YOUR DESIRED STORAGE LOCATION AND NAME THE FILE gow.IML
m)YOU WILL GET 2 ERRORS, JUST CLICK OK FOR BOTH.
(If you get one error message, then you have to download ?WNASPI32.DLL? www.Nero.com/us/WNASPI32.DLL.html
and put it in your windows system 32 folder.
n)THE RECORDING SCREEN WILL POP UP, CLICK ON FILE > EXPORT IMAGE AND SAVE IT ON ONE OF YOUR HARD DRIVES (NOT IN A FOLDER) NAME IT gow.LST
o) WHEN IT'S FINISHED, YOU WILL HAVE 4 FILES NAMED gow.000 gow.001 gow.oo2 gow.003.

Open apache 2. Load gow.iml Create .iso

Burn your .iso with dvd decrypter

I take no credit in this as it should all go to
SONIX.

Keep up the good work.

ANother way to combine files and build you iso
(Credit to L-burna on this one).

This is an example of the location of a folder on a desktop which would be GOW in this case.It will then give you a screen like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\GOW>

When you type in the cd it will switch it the C:\ drive pretty simple, basic stuff I know you probably know this but just saying add this in your tutorial alright bro

Then type this in alright:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\GOW>copy /b GOW.000 + GOW.001 + GOW.002 + GOW.003 GODOFWAR.iso

The copy /b setting will join all the IML image files together making an ISO file. The GOW.000 and GOW.001 etc... are the files made from Sony Cd/Dvd Rom Generator, and the last part GODOFWAR.iso is the name of the newly created ISO file.

Just wanted to tell you to add this in alright bro, makes the ISO process alot quicker.Me and you both know going through command prompt is alot quicker than using the GUI program

i deleted the files from command line
del *.psw
But i believe thats what windows calls the files,
But take note they are a bunch of them.

i would recommend doing the delete from a command prompt.

Now im going to sleep ill check back in the morning.

good luck peeps!!!!

seems to work like an f'ing Charm. I knew you guys would come through. Big up to Sonix .... you got it goin on brotha.

let me add one thing cause I'm sure before too much longer some one will ask...
towards the end of the tutorial in LINE g) instead of a slus or sles file in God O.W. it is scus 973.99 you are looking for. hopefully this will at least help save a couple of coasters.
GOOD LUCK EVERY ONE and I'll be checking in between levels to help answer any ?'s. later
If you are still having issues with this particular part and this probably goes without saying but the sles#, slus#, scus#, etc.... is also on the face of the original disc directly under the and NTSC|U/C pic.
maybe this will be the last time I edit this post.

Which cddvdgen do I use? There are so many of them. where can I find the right one?
I just got cddvdgen 1.50 & only thing I see when it's open are:
Exit, View patch note, apply patch
Application: cd dvd generator 1.50
Protection: 71 min cd size limit in iml-files
Allow different size - Ignoe if already patched & male backup copy
There is no mentione of "Create new project" as you have mentioned.
Maybe I have wrong cddvdgen & need another one but don't know which is the correct one.

Is it necessary to use cddvdgen?
I don't see any mention of this in walkthrough posted by sonix.
He only mentions, DVD Decrypter, apache2 & God of war tool V.1 - absloutley no mention of cddvdgen.
Pls. let me know if this is really necessary.
Thanks,

i think u still need the cddvdgen to make the gow.000 gow.001 gow.oo2 gow.003 files.

Anyway i got my backup to work but it seem as that the laser move around very fast looking for files and make loud noises when doing it. I think this is due to the re-linking process, can some one confirm this? i play with the original disk and the noise was not there and the laser doesnt move around as much. Does this happen to anyone else? is it healthy for the PStwo? Anyway i'm at the part where i'm (oh yeah SPOILERRRRRRR) about to leave athen for the desert. Does it froze b4 or after this?

Just use the Apache 2 program to make your ISO file. You can pop the .iml text file in the program and it will allign all the files for you. Then at the top left of the program click on build ISO.Wait for a little while and it will start building the ISO file.

L-Burna,

Therefore CDDVDGEN is not required. Apache2 will do all the work, so as Sonix has posted in his walkthrough we need,
DVDdecrypter, APAche2 & God of war tool V.1
correct?

I did it the way Jizmak posted last night and mine seems to work well.. but my laser in the ps2 is making more noise than usual when it's reading the game. I'm not sure about leaveing cddvdgen out but if you follow the instructions above it will!!!!!! work. It just took me around 4 hrs. but so worth it. thanx again to Jizmak for supporting the forums. As for Sonix I know it's just a matter of time b4 GT4 crack. Keep up the good work.

I will try but the way I see this is,
Sonix is the one who cracked this & he is not touching cdvdvgen at all, I've read his walkthrough a dozen times since early this morning.
It would have been nice if Jizmak could have given us a walthrough like sonix has, he has even put pictures of what windows should look like.
