dg0896: I'm not sure if you were trying to be witty or what, but I can tell you right now that power doesn't make the system.
Have you ever heard of the PlayStation 2? Weakest system of the 3 (not counting Sega), yet it dominated the market.
So... try harder next time?
Honestly though; there might be people who are becoming bored of just graphic upgrades.

I dont know about PS2 bein weaker than Game cube...
But anyways ur right about how power doesnt make the system, but i dare you to try to use that to convince the ppl in the 360 VS PS3 forum and see how well that does.

I didn't know it was still a debate, CrisKahn, but I can assure you that the GameCube is more powerful than the PS2.
of the new 3 i find the Revo the most interesting.

I agree with oofRome, power is not everything. I think nintendo's innovation will attract gamers. Also the gamecube is more powerful than the ps2, if you compare the cpu speed. PS2 runs at 295mhz while the gamecube runs at 485mhz.

yeah... that, and also, it puts out better graphics. And, it doesn't take as long to load either.
not like the graphics mattered, though. I played some sick games of the ps2 and honestly the grahics on all 3 systems were so close it wasn't a factor. I chose to initially buy the cube because Nintendo Games always stick out to me. The metroid primes, smash bros, to name my favorites.

As a gamer, I was pretty jaded by this next wave of consoles. I heard about the PS3 and the 360 and was like "So what". My comp has more power. And that it's just more of the same. When I first heard about the Revolution I was genuinely intrigued. The controller interface is very neat, and will hopefully add precision control to videogames. And people that haven't played videogames before would like it too. Nintendo with it's almost enigmatic handling of the Revolution, has me wanting to see what's next.

its all going to come down to what you like to play , personaly as i said the revo is no interesting beacuase it only offers a controler with some censors on it you have to be holding the thing in order to perform the action ,when i compare that to the eyetoy the controler just look old and nothing really new .you may use it as a sword or to play golf but its not something from the other world its just to much hype for it and it will not do something really new that hasnt been done before its just a diiferent way to play games ,thats not going to be any diiferent from when i like to play something different and play we love kathamary or play the eyetoy..
when i look at the best looking games this generacion i was like wow god of war or resident evil 4 looks hot ,but hell it can always look alot better and more realistic, and thats what the new gen is going to bring more realistic and more better looking games so that when you are shooting zombies in re5 ,you can actually feel like you are in the game, i rather have that then swing a controler from one side to the other, like i said it will come down to what you like to play and what console fits most your needs.
nuff said.
anyne played pgr3 ,mu cousin says that you can almost feel like you are inside that car and really driving 200/hour,thats what i want from next gen.more realistic games that will make me feel like im in the game i dont think i need nothing more.

While I agree with a lot of what you said, it's my opinion that becoming more involved in a game would make it more "real" than some mundane graphic upgrade. It can look real as hell, but you're still in a stationary position moving your thumbs, instead of swinging your arms and slicing some dude's head off. At the very least, Rev graphics may not compare to those of the PS3 or 360, but they certainly will be better than the current generation consoles. The PS3 and 360, on the other hand, provide almost zero new ways one could interact with a game.
But you're right, it's all personal preference.

The Revs graphics will probably be a tad better than the graphics of the game BLACK (for PS2 and XBOX - Use IGN to searhc for it and see screenshots). THe graphics on PS2 are just UNBELEIVABLE!!! They look next-gen and everything, great sound too. ANd I think, and hope REV will have better graphics or atleast same graphics as the game.

Oh man cant wait til BLACK comes out. Too bad i read that it only takes about 6-7 hours to complete.
To Oofrome... Yea well u said power doesnt make the system and thats probably right, game cube could be more powerful than PS2 i wouldnt know but PS2 graphics are way better and thats all that matter. And yes only graphics matter since most games will come out for all consoles except for flagships for the certain system.
At first i thought the REv had a cool controller that gave ppl a new way of interacting with games, like how it could be used as a gun for fps and a sword and such. Then i realized all that has already been done. Example = Onimusha sword for PS2 and guns that are made for Time Crisis.
Quote: The PS3 and 360, on the other hand, provide almost zero new ways one could interact with a game.
and for the rev...... also zero

Kahn I think you should abandon your ps2 graphic argument because anyone here with any shred of knowledge knows the GC outperforms the PS2.
regardless, the PS2 crushed competition so I don't know why you insist on graphics being the defining factor for being the top-console. If graphics mattered as much as you claim, than Xbox should be where PS2 was. The PSP should be owning the DS.
But neither of those things are happening, and there's even more overwhelming proof out there supporting how overrated graphics really are.
And yes, there's a lot of little peripherals out there that are different than a standard controller. time crisis guns, old school light gun... hell, right now one of my favorite games to play is guitar hero for ps2. There is a difference, however, when those "peripherals" become integrated with more than just one specialized game. And as far as I can tell, the Rev controller is a lot more high tech than what's been released in the past. (And considering Nintendo has suggested there is still even more to the controller than what has been revealed.)

tanner check what kind of ram is used as well.
Did you ever wonder how, on that site, GC polygon performance was 6-12 while ps2 was 66 and xbox was over 100? Doesn't that just scream at you that something's a little off?
The PS2's polygon performance is around 7 million. Nintendo's 6-12 number is considered underestimated by third party testing facilities, and I believe that Resident Evil 4 breaks the 12 million performance number by a significant margin.

all though you are correct that not everyone has a HDTV by the summer of 2007 they have to at least here in the u.s.a because are goverment is forcing the tv stations to go to a HDTV signal by 2007 if you do not have a HDTV i guess you are not going to watch tv
are you kinda sucks but the reason for this bold move is because are country wants to free up signals for more radio stations and tv stations so they are converting from a anolog signal to a HDTV signal

Not exactly. Football games are broadcast in HDTV yet anyone could watch it with a regular TV. It's the same deal. More things will be broadcast in HDTV, but you'll still be able to watch it on any TV. Trust me.
tanner: it's okay i wasn't angry. Actually the GC has 24mb of 1t-sram and 16mb of dram. thus, 40mb ram.
And criskahn I decided to just go ahead and grab some sources to end this debate.
Quote: Even though the GameCube will consistently produce better looking games (and the difference is noticeable) than the PS2, there are other capabilities that the GameCube is simply lacking.
source: http://nintendo.about.com/od/editorials/a/systemcompare_2.htm
Quote: While acknowledging that the GameCube is more powerful than the PS2, Matthew said he still prefers the PlayStation because of its games.
source: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/computers/1278831.html...
considering both of those sources didn't even prefer the gamecube anyways, I think that should suffice. If it doesn't, than you're just plain ignorant. The Gamecube has a better CPU and GPU and has more/better ram than the ps2. That equals better visual output. It's really not that complicated at all.

well i really think one of the main reasons people are gonna buy it is because Nintendo Revolution has backwards compatability but the main thing is that most people like sorta old games (ex. Zelda, Mario, Metroid, and others) and since they are gonna have that ability on the Rev people are gonna buy it and i speak for many people when i say the Rev will be a success. I think outta the 3 i'd choose the Rev any day!!!
