Nintendo Revolution used a controler that has a motion sensore in it, and we already know that. This is something we already know too... It can be used with FPS games. Rememebr "Duck Hunt" for the old Nintendoi system that used the guns? Remember when you has so much fun? You can do the same, WITH better grphics and more buttons, meaning mroe options. This means, better multiplayer FPS and more fun. I mean, woudl you rather use soemthign that basically replicates a gun OR use a controller that needs to use buttons and analog sticks to move the virtual gun, taget in the game? I know a lot if not all, chose the first option.
Now thing about playing the old school Nintendo games. You might say, "Who wants to play crappy games with crappy graphics, when we have PS3 and X360?". Well let me tell you something, at first I said to mysekf, "This system is so old, I don't want to use it anymore." But I gave my SNES another try (when I was bored) and I started rememebring the old days and how much fun I had. I had so much fun playing the system that I basically stopped playing my PS2 for a week or so. And the Revolution lets you play those old school game, and don't forget, you can also play games from other Nintendo systems, like N64 and NES.
---------
WOW!!! PS3 and X360 are Hi-Def!!!1one one omne!111
^
Who cares? Not everybody is going to have a Hi-Def TV/HDTV. Maybe they will but it will take a couple of years or so for EVERYBoDY to have one. I am estimating about 2-5 years. So Revo lets peopel with old/standard TVs and computer monitures to enjoy the system without having to play like $1000-2000 for a new TV. Not everybody is going to go "ALL I WANT IS GRAPHICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!". Peopel want to enjoyt heir games and have fun with them. And liek I said in the previous paragraph, SNES made me want to play it more than PS2, and that proves my point, graphics aren't everything.
Revolution WILL be basically fully backwards compatible, unlike PS3 and X360 which might have trouble doing that (X360 already has that problem). Revo will use Wi-Fi, meaning no need for long ass cables.
PS3 will probably have an INTERNAL power supply, which will increase the systems heat in a major way. X360 already has a problem with having it EXTERNAL (craching, Blakc Screen of Death and so on...). I am not saying Nintendo will be bug free, but I am saying, that they are taking thair time and that will be good because they will have time to find and fix bugs. And Rev's data compression format will be similar to NGC (which was REALLY good), and it will proably be easy to hack, mod and create games (for developers).

a few corrections to what you said. along with rev. ps3 will also have Wi-Fi capibilities. most importantly i can't stress this enough... it is fictional (not true) that you need an HDTV to play either xbox 360 or ps3. playing either console on your current home tv is going to be a step up from xbox/ps2 and will still look very nice. however; the major improvements visually/graphically that these systems will offer is going to be fully noticed/grasped on Hi-Def tvs'.
I will certainly say that the biggiest push with nintendo is their diverse library of games ranging all the way back to NES (which was/is the best nintendo console to date..imo) i really hope that nintendo can get back to its glory days, nintendo DS has proven itself, lets hope the rev has an even brighter future...

To HipN... The PS3 is also fully backwards compatible its not gonna be like the 360.
Also ppl arent gonna buy the REV just cuz it has backwards compatibility... thats what emulators are made for. Its free.
Although...I must say that its controllers is whats saving the REV from gettin dominated by PS3 and 360. Im gonna get the REV when it comes out just cuz the controller is hella sick

that i do think you are right on. if nintendo can really set a competitive price strategy, they just might be able to turn some heads. i think the major difference between this gen of consoles and last gen, is that more people i think are going to own mult. systems....ie, ps3/360/rev....ps3/rev....ps3/360 .. etc you get the point

That's right, but I heard theat in an XBOX you can play SNES, NES, Genesis and even N64 games, and you don't have to wait for the Revolution. Besides, capcom is about to launch a new version of Street Fighter II for the 360, that supports online play. So, backward compatibility might be fun, but is not the reason to buy a Revolution. It's breakthrough games and innovation will be.

Xbox can, but using emulators. And when a console uses an emulator, the games usually don't run at 100%.

And how will the revolution be able to run all those games from older consoles? My guess is emulation. Remember that emulation is how the XBOX 360 is able to play old XBOX games and it's working fine so far, even when it's not compatible with all games. Older games can now be viewed at 720p resolution.

Don't go so far back. Games like Time Crisis 3 make use of the Light Gun technology in these generations without being particulary succesful. I do remember having great fun with Duck Hunt, but Nintendo should give this and other technologies a fresh approach.

the revolution will make video games "fun" again, instead of "nerdy" and "geeky".

i think lucas arts should really jump on this idea maybe with the contorller u can swing the saber, shoot the blaster and if it was in 3D man i could orgasm if that could happen.
REV will be for fun games, if i want serious games i got my PC as much as i try i cant use fps on consoles at the moment hopefully the REV will change this, annalouge sticks suck gimme a kayboard and mouse any damn day.

definately will affect it's sales, one way or another. It isn't a mundane controller change. Their whole marketing strategy is to completely change how we interact with video games.

I sure know. My cousin had one. In fact Red Alarm for the Virtual Boy was the first 3D game I recall playing. I believe it was a major failure for Nintendo, since 99.9% of the gamers I knew didn't care about it. The hardware wasn't that bad, it looked good for it's time, even when there were no colors except for different tones of red. The gaming experience was engulfing but the games weren't many and it was quickly forgotten. Come to think about it, it's an example of what happens when Nintendo is crosses the line from being innovative to being just plain odd.

I disagree - but I also think you're kind of right. When I *first* saw the Rev controller, I was really confused (square, in-line buttons (I didn't know it had a trigger on the back at the time)). My first impression was that they went back to the NES controller style (it made sense with the button layout), until the Nintendo guy (don't know his name) said the controller would be held like a TV or DVD remote, then mentioned the trigger on the back (first time I'd heard of it). I was still confused about it at this time.
A couple weeks ago, I downloaded some videos about the controller, and tehy told about an accessory that plugs into the controller (kind of like a mouse), yet you hold in the opposite hand. The perihperal also has a trigger (maybe two) and a thumbstick (for directional movement).
This set-up will give *excellent* control to first person shooters (FPS'), allowing you to have a "keyboard and mouse" feel. With the 'remote' control, you'll swing it around (it acts based on the players physical movement) to where you want to look/aim weapon, and with the 'mouse' control's thumbstick, you'll move your character in whichever direction.
It's a great thing - for FPS' at least.
However I don't think the control system alone is what will keep the Revolution selling. It's the library of games as well...
Yes, the Nintendo Revolution will use Emulators, which, may not allow the old games to run at top speed (so they say), but will it really matter? I'm sure Nintendo will figure something out.
It was also said on the Nintendo website that the Revolution would be able to play GameCube games and N64 games as well - the NES and SNES games would be available for download to play them. As far as the N64 games go, I'm not sure.
The Rev uses regular sized Discs (not mini's like the GC) - as far as the compression and power supply and whtever other technical specs were mentioned, I have no clue on that. I just know what I read on the site about the controller and the games. And just to clarify, I KNOW the 'mouse' part of the controller has a thumbstick, but I not sure what buttons are on it (trigger(s), button(s) or whatever else).
Peace.

It can play GameCube and Revolution disks. All other games will be for download, including N64.
My main concern is what kind of data storage Nintendo will support, considering the flash memory onboard is only 512mb.

Revolution i'm predicting is going to be really good. Backwards capability dating back from 1990(classic Mario baby!!), N64 games like perfect dark and 007... the first one, controller that might feel more comfortable and give us more of an advantage, wireless, classic nintendo titles like Mario and DK... did i forget anything? I will stick with nintendo again.... but honestly, i'ma play the waiting game to see what all 3 systems have to offer when they come out. I'm not as excited as i was when GCN was coming out. Maybe because PC Games have won me over with thier online advantage :-).
