You see, if you get all three you will be able to play all games on the market. You won't have to say when a certain game comes out for a console you don't have "I don't have that console so I can't play that game.

That might cost a lil bit to have all 3.
Well i guess Game cube is underated then but personally i always thought PS2 was better than all. Guess i sound like a fanboy but i dont see that as an insult.
But i do like nintendo too. I just gave up on them after N64 cuz i thought N64 was weak. I didnt like how their graphics was bland even tho N64 had better CPU and GPU and whatever compared to PS.I dont really know technical terms, as most gamers dont. But i still like all the old school games like all the snes ans nes. I play those on my GBA.
Now the REv i see as just a slight upgrade of the Game Cube with pretty much the same kind of games but with better graphics. Its not really next gen material in my opinion. I think im gonna get bashed by Oofrome for saying that lol.

You're right that it will be a slight upgrade from the GC, but I disagree with "same kind of games with better graphics." In fact, that's exactly the opposite direction of where Nintendo is trying to lead the industry. The video game market has been in a decline for the past decade, and every wave of next-gen consoles seem to get more "hardcore-gamer" oriented.
If anything, the PS3 and 360 are "the same kind of games but with better graphics". (And those games will probably look amazing.)
The revolution, on the other hand, will only be a slight upgrade, but with a completely different experience. I doubt the games will be "different", but they way you play them sure as hell will be.
Like I said earlier: sometimes people can get bored with just graphic upgrades. How about something new? Because I sure as hell am not some geek sitting in his dark basement with glasses and smelling bad playing the new high tech console with xtflops and xpolygons/sec performance.

Eventually you learn to filter out "REVOLUTION RULEZ ALL!!!!" type of responses (in any forum for any console) and just read the somewhat reasonable things that people have to say. For the most part, I think everyone in this thread has been coherent and at least I can see where people are coming from. For example, mudearies was right that there are already peripherals other than controllers for games. I then gave him my rebuttal.
I think it was rather civil, and other than my basement comment (which was in jest, btw) I havn't seen a whole lot to provoke your fanboy comment. You look more immature than anyone else here.

i think ofrome is right when you guys argue about which next gen system is the best, you are all entitled to your own opinions, but you don't have to act like two year olds about it. Also the only system you can really judge as of now is the 360 because thats the only one that you have probably tested or played. and i dont think the revolution will be that grat i am leaning towards the ps3 but idk yet

I have to admit however that the revolution controller is cool and nintendo made a good decision about doing that.

I may not agree with OOfrome alot since he favors Nintendo while I favor Sony but iv never said anything bad about him and thats how everyone should act.
Ps3 dominates all beeyatches. But at least the Rev has something new like its controllers while 360 has nothing new so I say 360 is the worst out of the 3.

personally i think the nintendo is doomed this time around anyone heard of that eyetoy like micrsoft is working on,LMAO i always liked the EYETOY way better then that so called revolution pad ,ps3 and xbox 360 will have far better graphics and it will support HD,and like that wasnt enough actually sony is working on another EYETOY and same with microsoft so when you see the possibilities of the EYETOY and the limited pad revolution,PS3 or xbox 360 will be the way to go,dont wanna sound like a nintendo hater but ,its true nintendo is going down just like sega and atari.
reason...
sega only made games
atari only made games
nintendo only makes games
microsoft makes games and software
sony makes games, electronics, music, movies, software ect.hell sony even makes Blu-ray and processor cell with thoshiba and ibm.
and the thing about nintendo is it keeps realising the same shi%% when i was five i liked playing mario and zelda ,but now im 19 and dont want that anymore its boring wheres the new stuff ?????
unlike nintendo sony and microsucks actually buy third parties and they create NEWWWW HOTTT games like killzone, god of war ,ICO,shadow of the colossus, fable, forza, halo ect.
how about nintendo geist, fire emblem , what are you doing nintendo you got competition here, get in the game or you will die.
its all about the games.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. While MS might look way healthier than Nintendo overall, and while the XBOX outsold the GC by a considerable margin, the Gamecube generated profit for Nintendo. The XBOX only gave MS loss.
So, selling game hardware and Software Nintendo has been more succesful than MS. Also, Nintendo is far from dead, as the DS is currently outselling the PSP and if as you suggest the Revolution is a failure, then Nintendo still has the handheld market, they have owned it since the original Gameboy was released.
The Rev has a card under it's sleeve, and that's it's price. Being priced lower than the cometition it qualifies as a great second system, so many 360 and PS3 owners will buy it, if Nintendo can manage to get just the right games to lure non-Nintendo-Fans(like were Resident Evil: Rebirth and 4 for the GC).
Check this out for info on console sales:

Razengan is correct except for the Xbox outselling the GC by a "significant margin".
The difference is almost minute in contrast to PS2's dominating margin over both consoles.
Microsoft shipped 25million by the end of 2005, and Nintendo Sold 20.61 by that time.
Playstation 2, on the otherhand, has sold a little more than 100mil.
Quote: unlike nintendo sony and microsucks actually buy third parties and they create NEWWWW HOTTT games like killzone, god of war ,ICO,shadow of the colossus, fable, forza, halo ect.
Indeed, Nintendo's lack of third party support has played a major role in the past console war.
However, this used to be one of the best assets to Nintendo's initial success with the NES and SNES. What used to be a great selling point is now a great big fault, and I do find that quite ironic.

I suppose it is, but it seems a lot less important than a 70+ million gap for the top.
apparently over the holidays the gamecube sold better than the xbox and the 360. Seems like a weird trend. I definately wouldn't buy a gamecube with the launch of the revolution in sight. Especially since the Rev is backwards compatible with GC anways. just plain odd.

It wouldn't be smart to buy a GC these days, but aparently Nintendo is hoping to sell enought GC's to surpass the XBOX total sales in this last year. Maybe they can, since XBOX production just halted, but they should release Zelda: Twilight Princess soon if they really want to mantain sales.

Well the fact that Game Cube is only $100 is a good enough reason for ppl the continue buyin it. Almost bought one last week, used tho for 50, cuz i wanted to play the new zelda. But it is true that The Rev is comin soon so its useless to buy one, which is why i didnt.

The way I see it, it doesn't really matter whose console is superior as far as Nintendo is concerned. Nintendo lost the current-gen war because they tried to compete directly with Sony and Microsoft who both have far more resources to pull into their systems. Since then though, they've being trying to create their own new little niche in the industry. And by making the rev so much cheaper than the other two and the controller being so far off the beaten path, it seems they're going to succeed. Most people don't have enough money to buy both a 360 and a PS3, but with the Revolution so much cheaper a lot of people will buy one of the others plus a Revolution as a second system. Next-gen graphics are great but the 360 and I suspect PS3, don't really offer that new an experience. The Revolution on the other hand is just that, a Revolution, an entirely new way to play video games and in my opinion one with a lot of potential (Zelda swordplay, Metroid energy cannon). So most people will get either a 360 or PS3 to begin with but the new rev controller will attract a lot of people to get it as a second system.

i think this time around its a PS3 vs Xbox 360 battle. maybe what nintendo is hoping to achieve is a middle market, ppl that will buy the 360/PS3 and the rev. because i pesonally know that if its cheep enuf, the idea of playing all my old favorite games would make me want to buy it (on top of the xbox 360). in order for it to acheive status it needs to be inexpensive, and very very fun. i think the rev is also more kid based, less expensive so parents can afford it, and the cube was more geered towards kids. nintendo might become the only system for kids. because 360/ps3 games will be 2 expensive for kids, and the systems are wayy too expensive (i know my mom wouldnt have shelled out that much money for a game system, i barely got her to buy me a N64).
