the real iinovation is in the games not a stupid controler gimmick.
shadow of the colossus and the new okami are a perfect example of this ,the real iinovation happends in the games and there no need for a stupid gimmick.
gimmicks are fun for a couple of days but they will never replace a controler. you will always go back to playing those hot games with top notch graphx and yeah playin them with a controler.
if nintendo only hopes is just a stupid gimmick thats pretty much diggin your own grave right there means it will get old fast and people will not be interested in it anymore and will go back at playing games witn a normal pad and the best graphics and thats going to mark the end for nintendo mark my words.

Right, but the controller allows for those games to be played in a completely different way.

If graphics mattered so much, than your beloved Sony wouldn't have won the last console war.
And a big part of the Wii is that it is intended to capture people that don't play video games, so I don't think they would "go back at playing games with a normal pad and the best graphics" because they weren't there in the first place.

honestly, the only thing around here getting old is your continuous usage of the word "gimmick"
But look what I found from dictionary.com:
Gimmick: An innovative or unusual mechanical contrivance
Great job, mudearies! The controller is an innovative contrivance! Maybe next time you can look for a better insult. Perhaps you can try using a word that you actually know the definition of.

Yeah he does say gimmick alot doesn't he? He also makes alot of 5 year-old insults to the name too like Wee-Wee, Kidtendo, or something of that sort.

You made a good point, Gamecube, and XBOX graphics were superior to the PS2'sbut PS2 had a lot more better games, Gamecube had great games, but then screwed us Nintendo fans in the end with once in a blue moon releases and stupid kiddy games, and XBOX, well dont let me start with tha system. I truly think though that nintendo has pulled up there pants and have taken there Dick's out of there asses and smartened up by having the Third Party Support they need, a very strong launch day line up, and an inovative system with what looks to be innovative gameplay.

i havent read any other posts yet so if it was already said my bad...
nintendo wii is going to sell at a starting price of 250. that means i can buy two of them and still have 100 bucks left instead of buying the ps3. however, the ps3 is the future of gaming. it is going to be ultra fast (compared to the 360 and wii) and i believe the Blu-ray is what makes the price 600 dollars with 60GB or 80GB (i forgot) installed.

however i disagree that the xbox and gamecube graphics were better. if anyone played gran turismo 4 will know that game is too real to be true.it is not comparable to any other racing game on xbox or gamecube. the games on ps2 are better than that of xbox and gamecube, but i think that the wii will have more variety of games this time. i am definitely going to buy it along with the ps3.

Ps2 was kinda weird because it took them a while to learn how to program decent enough for it. If you look at screen shots of the first games that came out and look at the screen shots of a more recent games, you'll notice a huge graphical improvement. I think this is the road the Wii will be taking in terms of graphical power. Once they start getting used to the programming and get pretty good at it, the graphics will look far better than what we've seen so far.

Regardless, the purpose of this thread sure wasn't to discuss the Wii's graphics one way or another.
They really shouldn't matter.

i think graphics matter somewhat... im buying the wii, and sure its fun level looks promising but i do expect decent graphics out of it. i'm not expecting HD graphics, but something comparable to xbox/ps2 games a year or so after release would be nice. graphics do matter, more than you'd like to admit.

So for the benefit of an overworked and always short on time moderator what's the price breakdown of the Revolution, Wii, PS3 and XBox 360?

ps3: Pricing revealed to be $499 and $599 SKU's
360: Currently priced at $299 and $399 SKU's
Wii (formerly known as Revolution): Only price confirmation is "below $250". I'd expect it to be $199. Confirmation is supposed to be before september.

Well if you must know GCN graphics were better than ps2, and seeing how the Wii is more powerful than the cube, I think we'll see graphics with the launch titles on par with current xbox titles, and then see how much it progresses.

mmmhmmm... check out resident evil 4.
but like I've said before: better graphics are bragging rights, but it doesn't really matter after that.
