The .iso is 6,48gb big and I burned it on a DVD+R DL with Nero 7, but something went wrong .. so it seems, because as mentioned there is only 3,14gb on the disc.
And yes Im sure that I burned both layers. After 50% of burning Nero said that its burning the second layer now. :/
Seems that the idiot that upped this tryed to ripp it (Wonder why its still 6,48GB big), but he did it wrong. Funny that he post it as a DVD9 release and only mentioned it in the comments some hours ago. Why didnt he just upped the normal version. That make me angry ...
"The last one I upped was nuked, but this one is ok" <- oh yea .. sure ..

Hmmm maybe I'll just use the $40 gift card I have at Best Buy to get this.
Then again I hate to let Sony win.
I wonder if there are any other game rental sites where I could "lose the game in the mail" other than Gamefly and not be charged. I have a feeling that Rogue Galaxy is going to be the most lost game ever with these places.

I would like to buy it, but I live in Germany and the game wont be released here soon. Sure, I can use import-shops, but that will cost much more ..
I try right now burning it with DVD Decrypter. I hope that works.
[EDIT]Nope .. wont work either. Now I'm really angry -.-

someone from AD needs to rent this, rip it with a specialized program that will understand the layer break (PowerISO? Alcohol 120%?) & then burn it back to dual layer. Of course they would also have a modchip, because this won't work with Swapmag1c at all.
if you're a college student, do NOT settle with the RIAA http://tinyurl.com/37oz2z

Wasn't God of War Hacked to fit on a DVD5? And XenoSaga was hacked to fit on 3 DVD5s, and GT4 hacked to be put on a DVD5? Is someone working on something like that for this game too?

I'm sure you could always put it on two dvd discs by experimentation of course. It is a complex game though not sure about everybody else, but the .hd6 files are the headers of the big files. You would have to rip each .dat file seperate using the required .hd6 file.It is possible to use swap magic with this game, but will require you to patch the game with the toxic dual layer patcher. The only thing that is holding everybody back from getting the game working is finding the structure of the .dat files.

to fit a DVD9 game to a DVD5 you will end up removing cut scenes...

OK,guys, heres how i think its going to work
i have split the game over 2 dvd disk
i havent got no where near the time to test this baby, but i have booted chapter 8,and the game plays
first off extract these files using apache
keep the 2 layers separate,in folders layer 1 and layer 2
layer 1
all of them apart from DATA0_1.DAT
layer 2
DATA1_0.DAT
DATA1_0.HD6
DATA1_1.HD6
MOVIE
Compiling disk 1
DATA0_1.DAT is the game voice overs from disk 1,unfortunetly,you are going to lose these, there may be a way to keep them, but i havent got the time to mess around with this all day.
If we dummy the 2 sets of voice over files, there still isnt enough room for the data to fit on the DVD-5,so we need to remove some other stuff.
you may notice there are 2 MOVIE folders
what you need to do,is combine both of them
there is one folder, named 00,which is present in both folders, this contains exactly the same data in each of the movie folders
so just use one
you should have a movie folder which is now about 1.9gb's in size
for the first disk,we are going to dummy some of the movies out, which are not needed until we are over into the second layer, after Chapter 7 i believe?
We are going to use the same movie folder for both disk's,albeit a few changes for each
For disk 1 dummy the contents of these folders inside the movie folder
Rememember to make a copy of them,as you will need them for disk 2!!!
9
10
11
13
After you have done this, the movie folder for disk 1 should be about 1.85 gb
Now you need to make a dummy voice over files
DATA1_1.DAT
either use dummy file maker if you have it,or use notepad,(remember to rename it exactly as it was)
Now open Nero burning rom (udf/iso) and drop them in this order
DATA0_0.DAT (do not mess with this file)
DATA0_1.DAT (do not mess with this file)
DATA1_0.DAT (DUMMY FILE)
DATA1_1.DAT (DUMMY FILE)
DATA0_0.HD6
DATA0_1.HD6
DATA1_0.HD6
DATA1_1.HD6
SCUS_974.90
SYSTEM.CNF
MODULES
RGSYS.DAT
RGDMY.DAT
MOVIE (MVI files from folders 9/10/11/13 dummied)
BIN
Burn it
Compiling disk 2
EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT:
Well this is my final attempt with this game
here is the file list for LAYER1 (disk 2) only
TELEPORTORS ARE WORKING
Voice overs are included
i could do with a chapter breakdown,to see if i was actually teleporting backwards
all i know is,the game save i have got, starts me outside the insectron stadium, from there,i can teleport anywhere successfully using the teleportor, the list of places i can go from the menu screen is quite vast,so i guess i am going back on levels
if someone can list the different areas that there were on chapters 1-7?
BUGS FOUND
1)when entering the insectron staduim, there is a guy in the middle of the of whom you talk to,to enter a battle above level c? (not quite sure),anyways,if this is selected, the game freeze
game freeze after gameover

HERE IS THE ORDER THEY WERE PLACED IN Nero BURNING ROM UDF/ISO
DATA0_0.DAT
DATA0_1.DAT (see notes)
DATA0_0.HD6 (see notes)
DATA0_1.HD6
DATA1_0.DAT
DATA1_1.DAT
DATA1_0.HD6
DATA1_1.HD6
SCUS_974.90
SYSTEM.CNF
MODULES
RGSYS.DAT (taken from layer1,where layer1 = second layer)
RGDMY.DAT (taken from layer1)
MOVIE (see notes)
BIN (taken from layer1)
NOTES:
.DAT FILES
DATA0_1.DAT
DATA0_0.HD6
This was dummied, not sure if it makes any difference or not,but i used gnie plug-in for expert 2
use hd6 header to first extract lba
then again use hd6 header to extract the .wav files from DATA0_1.DAT
This will give you a folder full of 1000's of .wav files
First you need dummy file maker
http://www.zshare.net/download/zerofile-rar.html
unpack it in window/system32 folder
then run from start/run
regsvr32.exe /s /c ZeroFile.dll
open folder, and highlight all of the .wav files,
right click, and select replace with dummy
then wait,as it takes some time
Then load the hd6 file back in,and rebuild file
then rebuild lba
You will have 2 "new" files/folder called
new DATA0_1.DAT
new DATA0_0.HD6
just rename these back to what they are supposed to be,i.e DATA0_1.DAT
DATA0_0.HD6
Thats the .dat taken care of
MOVIE
All movies from both layers need to be combined inside 1 folder >
1-13/97/98/99
dummy all the .mvi files inside folders 1 to folder 7
leave folder 00 alone
then go to folder 99
look for a .MVI file called STAFF_A.MVI,i think this must be the end credits, when the game is finished.
dummy this file
Thats it

This is what i dont get! I assumed the x_1 files were both music/ speech etc, but clearly they arnt! For instance, if you dummy DATA0_1, the game will have issues right before the end of chapter 7. If you dummy 1_1, there are obvious issues later on when trying to warp to places from the first portion of the game! I wish I had your skills, cause this is really pissing me off.

we are finding glitches everywhere....it seems that files that had no relevance to the game functioning actually are important.
Hursty, how did you accomplish the 2 disk idea? Where did the 2nd disk swap come into play?? If you could somehow save before the final mvi plays on layer0, cant you dummy DATA1_0 and DATA1_1 on disk 1? This is of course if that is where the transfer happens. If so, then dummy DATA0_0 and 0_1 on disk 2, and hopefully the game will play normally. Say this because layer0 was only affected when i tried with 0_1 dummied, and layer1 crap was affected when 1_1 being dummied. Of course, disk 1 must have 0_0 intact and disk 2 have 1_0 intact also.
Like i said my last try was a 4.3 gig rip, but I dont see this happening correctly without a 2 disk option. Is what I said doable??

L-burna,hows it going bro, long time no see
i reckon this game cant be ripped, without some issues of hanging/freezing,call it what you want.
i didnt realise the game allows you to transport to previous levels
the game consists of 6 main files boss
2x.dat files for what appears to be the games play ( 1 on each layer)
2x.dat files for the voice, maybe music? (1 on each layer)
2 sets of of movies files (1 on each layer)
in the movie folder they both contain 00,which has the same files inside
the 2 main gameplay munge files, also contain the a certain amount of the same data (these are .TIM files)
i cant see anyway of splitting these babies, and tbh i havent the time these days

problem is svstang,if you dummy files from layer0,then on layer1,you use the transporter to take you back to a level below 7,then the data is not there, thus it hangs

Hmm i was thinking that one set of dats might work. Lets say disk 2, having both 1_0 and 1_1 fully intact might solve the problem. I couldnt ever try making a rip like that, there would be no way in hell to create a single DVD5. Of course thats a shot in the dark, but i would try it out if I knew how to make a 2 disk set. Did you just create individual iso's using apache then modify each layer accordingly?
At this point do you think this is at all possible?? Even if a tool comes out to downsample the mvi files, you think it is worth the effort?
EDIT
The dats on layer1 are slighlty larger, so isnt there a chance the extra data in 1_1 might have the data needed to revisit layer0 places?

i wish i could help but i still dont have the game and dont know the files in the game
does anybody knwo that fie holds the lvls, cause you say that on disk two you vaant go back to previous lvl from chpt7 and below beacuse their on disk 1, so does that mean you know what file is the lvl file? (or did ytou just plsit the disk using a prog which means you dont know the lvl file)
if not which is mostly likely, than take out all the movie scenes, (dummy them) and leave it as it is all on one disk with everything the same just having the movie scenes dummied...
or if you have already done that than maybe look for a compression pregram:P
if not that than the point of having a game that is too big is because of the amount of junk and amount of detail in the game cant be overcomed, its the way the game ened up as when they finished.
but, how is the US game way more biger tah the jap, we need someone with the jap game so we can see what files are needed and waht are not needed,i think that was what svstang said.....
also their are two layers, do both the layers hold different stuff, or are they the same that you can plsit them into two disks, but each layer can only hold the lvls that are needed on their layer.?
phew... im oging to bed, tommorow i will have the game :p i wanna know what i can do ^-^
