I now have Vista and the ASUS software does not work with it. Does anyone know an alternative program similar to the ASUS software that is compatible with Vista? I can do the rest on my own : P

This setup used to work with my PSP but it just stopped one day. Like a lot of people on here I got this message when I tried to enable SoftAp: access violation at address 0057403F in module 'Wireless.exe'. Read of address 027A3744
I kept going anyway and found in my Properties/Advanced tab that the ICS isn't available; it isn't even listed. I'm guessing that's what my problem is, so how do I re-enable ICS? I've googled and come up empty.

I just got it working-- I had to go into the device manager and uninstall and reinstall the Buffalo adapter, just doing the ASUS software didn't quite do the trick.
Thanks!

hi all, i got the nintendo usb connector thing as it said it worked on xp. didn't check beforehand though to see if it worked on xp64 >_<
so do these drivers work on 64 bit? i can't get it to recognise the connector as a working adapter at all!!!!
i've copied the drivers to system32 but no joy there, add new hardware wizard has no "buffalo" section (just eicon and microsoft) and specifically pointing to the inf file does nothing, says it's not compatible
any help appreciated

Originally posted by gtasmy: after i copied that file (rt2500usb.sys) to system32\drivers it says to click wireless settings. i tried that but it says "There is no Wireless LAN Card Installed, So the Utility will quit." What should i do now? and in the beginning of the guide u said "Inside the Drivers folder of the RAR file, you will find modified Buffalo drivers. Install these drivers for the USB Connector." What do u mean by "Install"? do u mean to copy them to "system32\drivers" ?
and after that u said "You will get a dialog asking if you want to use the Windows configuration utility or the ASUS one, select the option that uses ASUS one and disables the Windows one. Then there will be a wizard. Click Cancel to close the wizard." for me no Wizard popped up instead it said "There is no Wireless LAN Card Installed, so the utility will quit.". help me plz?
basically similar to this post. i wish if people resolved something they'd post how in the next post instead of saying "nevermind"

Alright, I'm new. I have an issue. I click apply after clicking SoftAP in the ASUS WLAN Card Settings. I set to Soft ap under config, then drag my Local Aera COnnection 2 (my internet) to internet box. Then I un-tick Enable ICS. I click Apply and this error appears.
"Cannot copy driver to system directory."
Help please. I read the fourm from page 1 to page 9. no help.
-Tyler
-*EDIT I fixed that problem.
I watched the video exactly and Im at the part where we manually set the ICS.
I click Allow other users to connect through this connection.
Error pops up saying IP is in use.
So I disable the Wifi connector.
Now the part where I can click "allow other users...." doesn't appear.
Help.
also is it supposed to say Nintendo wifi connector as the drive?
New to froums in general.
All I use or read them for is help.

Ok, looks to me that you had the wifi connector already installed using the nintendo software. Go back and uninstall the nintendo software and start over as this is were your ip problem stems as the nintendo software is already asigned the ip address that you need. Go back and uninstall the nintendo and do a search of any leftover folders and delete then reboot and proceed with the new drivers

Without installing the new drivers you've got from ralink go back and reinstall the proper ones as indicated, now that you have uninstalled the nintendo drivers and software all should be well

Hey, how did you fix the initial problem. I read the guide and watched the video but it shows that the same copy error "cannot copy driver to system directory" ???
I feel if I can get past this I should be fine.....but it just does not seem to work.... (many people have pointed out a similar problem....did you all give up...how did you fix it? what are possible causes?)
cheers

Just to add
I applied the settings I also get the "cannot copy driver to system directory" error.
The only thing that happened different from the video was when I copied the usb.sys file to the system32 file it didnt overwrite anything before.
I got this yesterday and linked it up with the normal software/drivers from Nintendo through my DS to make sure, but removed them completely...so I cant imagine what the issue is.......I doubled checked to make sure the driver was copied to the right directory.....As for the network connections, I have a proset wireless which is disabled, a bluetooth dongle, the normal 1394 connection, and the normal wired LAN connection (which I dragged into the box so I could disable the ICS). Still, after all that, no dice. I would be very happy if someone could suggest some ideas (more complicated than "have you put the right driver in the right directory" at least)

I notice that a few people have had problems with this...For 1 you must enable ICS not disable
Just follow this setup...
Under The Asus WLAN Card Setting
Click on Config on the left side.
Basic Tab:
Network Type:Infrastructure
Network Name:default
Channel : 1
Encryption Tab:
Network Authentication: Open
Data Encrption: Disabled
Soft AP Tab:
Check The Soft AP Mode
Check To Enable The ICS
Access Control Tab:
Access Control Policy: Accept
Access Control List: This is were you input your mac address of your DS found under Nintendo WFC Settings,Options,System Information there you'll find your Mac Address 00-00-00-00-00-00 eg. Just note this is were you would input additional hardware addresses as well ( PSP, Laptop Eg.). Then of course you click add. Now you'll see that same address under the list of Mac Addresses Allowed To Be On The Network.
Now go back to the basic tab and click on advanced make sure under the 54g Mode its 802.11b only. All the other settings should not to be touched. But if you want to know here's what mine are set to.
RTS Threshold: 2347
Fragmentation Threshold: 2347
Preamble Mode: Long
Frame Bursting: Disabled
54g Mode: 802.11b only
54g Protection: Auto
Use Short Slot Time: Disabled
Important after making any adjustments to click on OK on the bottom left before closing tab.
Ok try your DS by going into nintendo WFC, then nintendo WFC Settings,Nintendo WiFi Connectin Settings. Erase all previous settings. Now pick a connection 1,2 or 3 now search for access point, after a few moments it should come up with a screen showing a default connection thats unlocked and a signal, Click OK. It will show a new Connection 2 Settings screen press OK again and it will set up your DS connection for you. After its done it should say connection successful and then go back to the Connection setup screen. Now just back out and your ready to Play. If you wanted to go into the connection setup screen again ,you'll see that the connection you choose has changed the erase settings to yellow from white meaning its saved. Now Go Have Fun !!!!
Any problems I'll try to help you figure it out.

You have to copy again the driver file in the "C:\Program Files\ASUS\WLAN Card Utilities\Drivers\Win XP\AP" to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Drivers.
That is what I did to fix it.

A LAN is already configured with the IP address that is requried for automatic IP addressing."
