Hey if your going to buy a new router then go wireless and forget the whole usb connector. If it didn't work for me thats what I would have done. But for $35. its a good deal. What else are you trying to run on this usb anyways psp, laptop ? The reason I ask is if your only trying to connect the DS then maybe the Nintendo software would work. I can't see it but just had to put it out there. I'm sure you know but the software hack is to enable other devices to connect using the usb connector and to bypass the DRM thats been programed in the nintendo software...Dam them all.
WD.
I'd rather not go wireless that's why I'm doing this. I am only trying to run my DS, however, the software wasn't working which is why I tried to resort to this method. I don't think it works for my D-Link router. Maybe you can tell me what wired router you are using so I can look into that :)

I got my problem solved by reinstalling windows! Then I got it to work, but the Wii wont recognize the Wireless connection it takes FOREVER, the PSP, PS3 and latpop of my sister work, but the Wii, not.
PSP (+[__]%): 2.80 < 1.50 > 3.40OE-A > 3.71M33-4 > 3.80m33-5 > 3.90m33-3 > 4.01m33-2 + 8gb MSPD
PS3 HD 60GB: 1.33 > 1.90 > 2.01 > 2.17 - NO OS
Nintendo DS [+[__]%]: EZ Flash 5 Plus + 1GB MicroSD + EZFlash 3in1
Nintendo Wii: 3.2U + 1GB SD Card + WiiKey 1.9s

For everyone trying to connect the Wii to the USB adapter, I wanted to show the configuration that actually worked for me. After tinkering with the settings and reinstalling, etc., I've finally gotten the adapter to work with the Wii console.
Here are my settings:
SSID: Ren (I didn't hide it, so I'm not sure if it will work if it's hidden)
Channel: 1 (If your Wii has trouble detecting the adapter, try either 6 or 11)
54g Mode: 802.11b only
Network Authentication: Open (won't work as shared)
As far as the Wii console goes, I was able to just detect the access point. No need for manual setup unless you have your connection encrypted or your SSID hidden.
Hope this helps!
Thanks.
This helped me a lot in trying to connect my DS and Wii to the interweb.
I was able to get my PSP on there with the settings I had before, but no the DS or Wii. I followed the advice above, and then manually set my IP on the DS and Wii, and it worked.
All I had to change was my channel from "6" to "1", then I changed the 54g Mode from "Auto" to "802.11b only"
Worked like a charm. I thought I was going crazy, seeing as how the USB adapter was less than a few inches away from the consoles.
Remeber people, manually set your IP's. (Although some people can get it to work with auto-assignment.)
If your wireless adapter has an IP of something like : 192.168.1.1,
then set your DS or Wii or PSP to something like 192.168.1.4 or something similar on the same subnet.
Then your subnet mask should be: 255.255.255.0, and then set your Gateway/router and Primary dns to whatever the ip of your wireless adapter is.
Hope everyone gets the help they need here, like I did.

Hey try looking around as this is known and posted many times....but one thing you forgot to mention is that when more then one thing is using the wifi it will default to the slowest connection. Also if setup right the auto setup should work fine!!! The anwsers are here if you do a little reading.

I know the answers are there, I was just expressing my gratitude for the post I found.
Also, I have another question.
Sometimes, when I use the internet with my Wii or I get an e-mail on WiiConnect24, my Internet cuts out, and I have to use "ipconfig /renew" to get it back. What should I do to try to fix this?

I just got a DS and when I try to connect I have to go into the ASUS prog and change my network authentication settings to shared so it will connect. Of course, now my PSP won't connect, so I have to change it back if I want to use that. It's not really a problem, I just thought I'd mention it on the off chance that it gives someone an idea about how to get up and running.

Here's the proper setup
Under The Asus WLAN Card Setting
Click on Config on the left side.
Basic Tab:
Network Type:Infrastructure
Network Name:default
Channel : 1
Encryption Tab:
Network Authentication: Open
Data Encrption: Disabled
Soft AP Tab:
Check The Soft AP Mode
Check To Enable The ICS
Access Control Tab:
Access Control Policy: Accept
Access Control List: This is were you input your mac address of your DS found under Nintendo WFC Settings,Options,System Information there you'll find your Mac Address 00-00-00-00-00-00 eg. Just note this is were you would input additional hardware addresses as well ( PSP, Laptop Eg.). Then of course you click add. Now you'll see that same address under the list of Mac Addresses Allowed To Be On The Network.
Now go back to the basic tab and click on advanced make sure under the 54g Mode its 802.11b only. All the other settings should not to be touched. But if you want to know here's what mine are set to.
RTS Threshold: 2347
Fragmentation Threshold: 2347
Preamble Mode: Long
Frame Bursting: Disabled
54g Mode: 802.11b only
54g Protection: Auto
Use Short Slot Time: Disabled
Important after making any adjustments to click on OK on the bottom left before closing tab.
Ok try your DS by going into nintendo WFC, then nintendo WFC Settings,Nintendo WiFi Connectin Settings. Erase all previous settings. Now pick a connection 1,2 or 3 now search for access point, after a few moments it should come up with a screen showing a default connection thats unlocked and a signal, Click OK. It will show a new Connection 2 Settings screen press OK again and it will set up your DS connection for you. After its done it should say connection successful and then go back to the Connection setup screen. Now just back out and your ready to Play. If you wanted to go into the connection setup screen again ,you'll see that the connection you choose has changed the erase settings to yellow from white meaning its saved. Now Go Have Fun !!!!
Any problems I'll try to help you figure it out.

See, I use both WEP and MAC address for security. Since WEP is supposedly very easy to crack, would it really matter if I dropped it and just used MAC addresses?

The usb connector has a reach of about 40 feet under great conditions and under normal conditions 20-25 feet can be exspected. I just use the mac addresses to keep it simple as security shouldn't be an issue.

THe guide worked fine, thank you very much for your hard work. I copied the video installation process step by step which really helped. vut I have a strange problem that I cannot seem to find an answer for.
It is relating to DSOrganise and the wifi settings.
I can connect to wifi games, but for some reason I cannot connect to the internet through DSOrganise. does anyone know why this is?
I have set a static IP for the DS and disabled any automatic facilities exactly the way the video shows, but I am baffled as to why I cannot use DSOrganise.
Can anyone help with this.?

True, though 40 feet is quite a bit living in an apartment complex. I live on the third floor and I can go all the way downstairs and into the parking lot before I lose a signal. Having said that I don't imagine anyone in my complex has the knowledge to hack my wifi anyway. Along with MAC filtering I hide my SSID so I should be fine without WEP.
Thanks for all your tips WD! I wouldn't enjoy portable gaming half as much without this thread.

First off does the laptop have a wireless card. Make sure you allow the laptop ip under access control panal. These are two things to check right off. Give me more detail if these don't work.
