Thank you for this tutorial .. It worked like a champ with GOW.
Can you use the method to rip all xbox 360 games? Including new ones(crackdown, nba homecourt, etc)

like say if i have and original copy of gears of war. after following this method and eventually burning succesfully, i have created a backup of gears of war. now say if i have oblivion. do i need to REPEAT the method for oblivion or can i just rip the game easily(meaning that do i still have to have my PC's dl dvd drive top taken off and once again swap the disks)? in other words, when doing it a second time, do i have to repeat the same exact method or is this a one-time method only?

yes you have to do it everytime to trick windows into thinking its a dvd but you dont have to change the layout file everytime it will be the same for most games

Cearel,
One more question and I'm done :)
When it comes time to patch the iso is it ok to just use the ss.bin file? I read somewhere that you need the ss, dmi and pfi files for some games. If this is true ... how do you add those in SS merger?

Hi there-
I did the complete tutorial and took the suggestion of bypassing the detect botton on ssmerger 1.7. My question is I noticed that when it merges the ss bin with the iso I get a file named .dvd. What is the proper size for this file. I get 1kb. When I open other .dvd i usually see 38-43kb. What Im I doing wrong. Thanks and great job on the tutorial.

First of all thank you. Not a total noobie but am with the 360. This is the scenario, I use the tutorial and am getting the nag on ssmerger. Used everything from 1.2-1.7 with no luck. When it generates a.DVD file i burn it via imgbrn and it does read it but I end up with coasters. I have tried decrypter and clone cd with cloan freezing up when it looks for the drives. Any suggestions, FYI i am using verbatim...ouch that jut hurt my pocket

Also, when i try to burn it using xbox creator I get an error that the iso is not the same size as it indictaes it is. It will say 7.17g but when you open it up it says 7.05g. Did I do to many dummy files? just a thought. Thanks

I was trying to backup COD3 using scarface as the DVD. I had the
C
D
C Which I changes the third line to D. i used a verified SS NTSC bin. What else can I do?

I thought about that as well. Its roughly 7.5 g. I was thinking of trying a bigger one but just havent had time to do so. I will report my findings in the next couple of days. As always, Thank you!

Hey maybe somebody can help me i'm having a hard time getting the top cover off my double layer drive i get the bottom off but i can't slip the top off so i can do the swap is there something i have to do to get the top cover off the drive? thanks for your help

yea np ill help ya out. I have a sony and the top has some tabs in the back that are are to see and on the side there are some tabes and they all have to be pressed inand it will slip right off. If you want more help just post some pics and it will help me to better help u

I have backed up Lost Planet and Splinter Cell when I try to play them on my xbox 360 sometimes they load and the rest of the times it takes me to the menu screen. My xbox 360 has the firmware already. Any suggestions anyone?
