Thanks, but I have already tried that and then I get an error merging the resulting extreme iso with the ss file. When I try to burn the iso to disc, dvd decryptor gives me an error message that the file is corrupt or something like that.

-wxripper
-iso burning program(i will be using DVD Decrypter)
-ss merger 1.6
-daul layer dvd burner(with the top taken off so you can swap out the disks)
-blank DVD+R DL
-dvd movie(im using finding neverland) that is at least 7.5 gig
RIPPING THE GAME DISK
Step 1
Insert your 7.5 gig dvd into the dvd burner after windows reconizes it open up wxripper and find the drive letter of your burner it will have the name of your movie after it like this pic i took.
Step 2
Now click find magic number then file-save layout.
Step 3
open the layout file you just saved using notpad and change the 3rd line to a D(has to be in caps)
Step 4
Hit stop and you will hear the disk stop take the top off your dvd drive and remove the 7.5 gig movie and replace with the game we are ripping. Hit spin drive and open the layout file that we changed hit start dump.
PATCHING RIPPED ISO WITH SS MERGER
Step 1
Open ss merger hit yes find the iso that we made with wxripper open it and it will appear like it has locked up its just loading and takes about five mins its loading that 7.5 gig iso that we made so give it some time now open up the ss file for the game( i like to get mine from http://www.ss.softmodfiles.net/) if it is red thats fine i always get red and they work fine.
Step 2
Click merge and create layer brake file
BURNNING ISO GAME
Step 1
Open the dvd file for your game with note pad copy the layerbrake *nubers* only
Step 2
Open DVD Decrypter hit tools- settings then iso write mode and paste the layer brake numbers in here
Step 3
Now open your iso file and click burn when it is finished test
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
where shud i download the wxripper and ssmerger from. i cant find it ny where....help me

Ive been working through this tutorial and finally thought i had success, after ripping the game, finding what appeared to be the correct SS file, merging it and burning with DVDdecrypter, i loaded the backup in my flashed 360 and then the 360 tried to load it as a DVD and a screen came up telling me that if i wanted to play the game i need to put the disk in an xbox 360 console. the game is call of duty 3 in PAL format.
any help would be appreciated.

Morning Chaps,
Sorry if this has been gone over already but can someone please confirm whether I should be able to copy a 360 game that has already been copied from an original 360 game?
I have put the copied game into my 360 and it works fine. When I try and copy the copied game using my Sony DL DVD burner in my PC using CloneCD it reports as burning 100% OK.
When I pop this copy into my 360 it gives me the usual error about putting this into a xbox 360! It seems to think its a movie dvd disk!
I am using Verbatim DL - DVD disks (not + ).
Can someone let me know if I should be able to copy copied games and if I am doing something wrong. Do people advice + disks rather than - disks? Or do I need the popular Pioneer 112 dvd burner?
Thanks all, I really appreciate your guidance, its driving me insane! I too have also created a few coasters!!
Thank you,
Yans out.

so what you are saying is that I am not trying to do anything out the ordinary. good start.
I was using an lg burner and now the sony one (lastest model burns everything) does the same. I will try some + disks as everyone seems to be using them.
what software are you using?
thank you so much for your assistance.

Where it says in Step 1 to click on YES, when it wants to search the Database, you don't have to click YES! Usually, when I backup games, the Database is down, so you have to sit there a while for it to connect to something that it's not going to connect to! You can just click NO, and it will still work! I've successfully backed my games by clicking NO, and it goes a lot faster!!!

I get the feeling it could be the cheap discs i got :(
10 spindle for ~ 15USD
I thought it was a bargain, apparently not. I burnt COD a different disk and it worked first time. Rainbow 6 worked 1st time, Gears of War didnt but i suspect thats because i made a noob error along the way, so im trying again. backed up 2 games, coastered 6 disks...still 1:4 its about the same as buying the expensive disks :D
yes all is PAL, ss pfi dmi iso xbox all PAL

If you did not flash your firmware nor have a modchip, you'll never be able to play backups on your 360.
