I didn't even know there was a PART2.PAK file what program are u using to mount the ISO? I used IsoBuster, then Ultra ISO. Then read the iso with WinRAR just to recheck what you said about the PART2.PAK file. I still didn't see it. Are ECHELON releases garbage?

I used toxic patcher. I took 1 second to patch (is it supose to be that fast?)
Then burned it. Did you then click "X" or "square" (special mode)?
Mine said "invalid ps2 disc" :|
(I have a fat ps2 and Swap Magic 3.6)

Here is our solution!! This is the toxic patcher. Run this, patch iso, then burn. Confirmed working with me and many others with dual layer dvds, and sm.

I find it hard to believe since everybody else is still trying to make this game playable with sm.

Yep. I think the file size didn't changed. Used alcohol to burn it.
(The DVD was a DVD+R Double Layer)

SWAP MAGIC + DVD9 = NO GO
Lets think it through logically.....swap magic is a DVD5, therefore a TOC refresh of a DVD9 would do what??? You guessed it, refresh LAYER0!!! Layer0 = the equivalent of a DVD5......see where i am going with this?

Yeah once gnie recodes his tool we will be able to downsample the .pss files. Seems there is a bug in his ex/reb tool that corrupts the the .pss files. Once that is solved we can use pss plex (or any other demuxing tool) to downsample, make a new iso, then relink the duped psw files. Just a waiting game at this point.

yeah you can extract all data with apache 3, but the only way to extract the .pak files is with gnies tool. But since gnies tool has glitches, we must wait for a fix from gnie.

I remember rebuilding GOW 1 manually, it was an endeavor that took me 3 hours, and 15 minutes of swearing.
I hope to not relive that experience, and was wondering about something:
I remember encountering someone that said he would split the image of a game if it were too big, and just put in on two dvd's.
The question is simple, is there a program, that can split God of War 2 image in half, and back it up on two dvd's?
Is it possible? Or do you have to go through that rebuild phase, or remove some dummy or dupe files?
On a DVD5, with all the videos and features included, it comes out to how many gigs?
I have a sony dual layer burner, and I am sure it could read the other layer given the right tools.

svstang, if you find something conclusive about god of war 2, or there is a tool kit release, I don't mean to burden you, but would it be possible to message me?
thank you.

I will for sure hot ice. There are a couple things you can do, but will take a lot from the game.
If you extract with apache, you can use xpert with gnie's plugin to extract the .pak's. After you extract lba and files, you can use expert to relink the .pss's and .psw's to their smaller counterparts. I havent attempted this cause im tired as all hell, but im sure if you relink enough from each .pak (roughly 2 gigs of .pss and .psw from each .pak) and then rebuild the .pak and lba, you could then use cd dvdgen to produce a iml and then use iml2iso to make a iso.
That is an alternative to downsampling. Again, you will have to relink a grip of .pss and .psw files to reach the 4.36 mark. If you arnt into the movies go for it, i will do this tomorrow granted psycho or gnie do not make a kit or a new tool.

I can confirm that I got the game running using "HDLoader 0.8b GOW2"
I patched the dual layer .ISO (8.5G) using toxic dl patcher then transfered to PS2 HD using WinHIIP.
I haven't played that much but at least it plays.
