Would it be possible to use DVDscan to scan and patch the DVD9 checks to just DVD for the 2 disc rip, so the game doesn't freeze trying to read data from the 2nd layer?

OK i just got done relinking EVERY pss and psw file, the new pak is rebuilding and then ill recompile with cd dvdgen, make iml with iml2iso...this should be funny
I use gnie's plugin to extract the .pak files, relink with the same prog, and then save the lba

There will be a kit out soon i guess
There is nothing that special about it that a good programmer cant solve
There are a lot of dupe movie files, you just need to chose which one you keep,as one is for widescreen tv (just like in god of war 1)
The tricky part is relinking the files
Me,i just aint got the time to waste any disk's ;)
I have had a quick bash at it,not tested it yet though

I'm gonna give relinking all of the files a go. I hope I don't end up wasting another dvd.

Exactly, after what we went through with Rogue Galaxy....just isnt worth it. Besides, someone at alucard made a bootable iso under 4 gigs that contains all 43 .pss's. He is testing it out, so hopefully it is legit.

relinking? i was thinkin more towards downsampling the PSS files. I just checked the alucard forum, and most ppl claim they relinked everything correct and is in the process of burning the iso. I hope someone comes up with a downsampling guide so nothing is ripped out from the game.

There is no way in this earth has someone made a iso under 4gb without downsampling the .pss files
I am in the process of rebuilding the iso as we speak, dont think it wil work though
My downsample rate was set at 5%,and i also had to dummy end credits

Also I don't understand why this game is a DVD9 yet Final Fantasy 12 (a much bigger game, albeit compressed) was a DVD 5.
What kind of question is that??? Nobody can confirm anything, all we can do is keep trying and when it is done it is done.
Hopefully an update soon
I thought if was quite a simple question actually. The answer being either yes, or no. Since I read on another forum that SCEA may be releasing the game in a DVD5 format..
I've tried patching the DVD9 Echelon release with toxic and then Gnie tool, game worked for about 6 hours and crashes when I get to Icarus.
HOpefully some wise folks will get this baby working.

Here ya are folks, 1st successful rip thanks to umaxxel
Quote: Ok, i killed nearly 100 soldiers and the colossus of rodos and had to swim a little to get to first save point.
Until now i think there were two or three cutscenes. Game runs like a charme. No stutters, sync-probs or anything until now. Saved my game - this took about 40 seconds to my 32 MB memory card and now i am in a big room with big wheels.
What i did was:
1) patch the original iso with toxic
2) extracted files
3) merged the pak-files
4) extracted files
5) Now the trick to get the movies at 800 MB: Run pssdown on the same files three times. first at 30, 2nd at 60, 3rd at 50%.
6) relinked all psw-files to corresponding pss-files
7) rebuild pak-file
8) exchanged the .toc-file with new one, renamed pak-file to part1.pak
9) cddvdgen
10) put the files exactly at the same lba as you can get from isobuster for layer 0
11) export image from cddvdgen
12) merge .lst-files
13) burn
14) play

with that method you dont need to, only relink the psw files the the corresponding pss. Here is his brief yet helpful explanation.
Quote: To relink files use gnies GOD of RIP - Tool (relinker from the menu) after you have extracted the files from the big .pak file and downsampled the movies. Start relinker.
choose the LSN-TXT file and click on load. After that you will have the complete file list.
Now, for better overview click on the filename tab to sort the files. Now scroll down until you see the first .pss file.
check the box in thet line. click right mouse button. choose "set as master file". Then uncheck box and check the line with the psw-file with same filename. check the box in front of the line. uncheck the pss line. click right mouse button and select "relink to master file". This you will have to do for all psw files ...
Don't forget to save from time to time.
After relinking, rebuild the pak-file and rebuild lba.
As mentioned by others before, choose if you would like widescreen or normal movies.
Normal: link psw to pss, widescreen: link pss to psw
But choose before you dummy the corresponding files ....

Does this mean that the movies are 5% of their original sizes? That's extremely compressed!

That is exactly what it means, either try that or use the method explained above.

psw dummied/.pss file downsampled

the part1.pak and part2.pak u obtained by extracting from the iso needs to be merged before it is unpacked. In order to do so, use gnie's expert v2.00 tool to unpack the merged pak file. One thing I'm not sure is does expert extract part2.pak also?
