When you take out the micro SD and connect it to your computer you should see 2 folders named SYSTEM NDS with the game roms being in the NDS folder (all with .nds i.e unzipped) The latest software you should have downloaded is 4.1a (www.handheldsources.com)
If this is correct, put the M3 card into the DS WITHOUT the SD card, after a few seconds (maybe 20) it should come up with NO SD CARD or words to that effect. - this is checking that the M3 card is working
3rd) what site are you directed to for your software, for the card (ON the packaging) if it directs you to other sites (it should be www.m3adapter.com not m3adaptes.com etc) it could be a fake - see www.m3adapter.com

Hi n1nja226, after having the same problem as yourself and reading all the posts, im afraid to tell you kittymat is correct you probly have a fake card I have just received my card from clickshop and has the m3adaptes.com on the box as directed by both kittymat and the m3 official site.
I have tried my sd card on a official m3 cart and it works fine. I have therefore contacted the shop to get it sorted and would suggest you check your card and box and do the same.
Good Luck

Hi Folks:
I have ordered enough M3 DS Simply cards (2) and Real DS (4) to able to make some really strong observations about this card. I have used them on 5 different DS Lite machines. If you are buying the card for someone who does not like "tinkering" with hardware and software -- or they are looking for a very stable environment, I would not recommend this route. This does not mean, everyone's experience will be the same as mine ...
All of the DS cards had to eventually be "shimmed", "wedged" or whatever word you want to use in order to work properly. Even if a new DS and a new Real DS card worked initially, they would eventually start seeing the following symptoms:
- DS does not detect a card.
- DS locks up (graphics and sound) while in game or in menu at a
random time (you are not performing a specific task)
An easy way to test ... is to insert the card, and use your thumb to keep the card pushed all the way in as far as it will go, while powering on the DS. If the game boots fine that way, it is the connection.
The "shim", as described in other posts, will force the card down to make good contact. I suggest paper or cardboard, 1.5 inches long, and .5 inches wide. Thin cardboard should be folded about 4 times. insert about .5 inches of into the slot first, then slide in the cartridge. You will have a goofy little "paper tail" out the back of the DS, but if the cartridge gets lodged "too well", you will appreciate having a little "tab" to pull on to dislodge the cart.
I'll give you move of my experience in another post.

I wanted to comment about two separate M3 DS Simply carts. If you are buying these second hand (or new), watch out for the contacts. They are:
- Short. Some of the contacts on the cartridge are shorter than the others. This was improved on the Real DS.
- They can be poorly constructed. Some of the contacts on my DS cartdige oxidized. The printed circuit is so poor on the contacts, that the contacts are easily scratched off.
Bottom line, this leads to big "contact" issue with the DS machines. Eventually, both of my DS Simply cartridges stopped working.
I don't know if yours are like this --- both of mine were ... and they were ordered months apart.

Anyone else have an issue with a Micro DS card dying in their DS for no apparently reason? I have one where a Kingston Micro SD card just died one day, and my computer could no longer detect it (either through UBS or a card port).
Just wonder if my card died on it's own, of if the cartridge helped it along?

Hi Folks , I have been using the M3 Real for over the last year and I bought 4 of them from ClickShop and no matter what they will not work for me . I noticed on the card and packaging that it has ( m3adaptes.com ) I'm presuming they are fake ? Is there anything I can do to get them to work or just send them back and get a refund ?
Thanks for any input :)

m3adaptes.com is the fakes website. From What I hear is it can't use the official M3 DS real firmware and thus you will not have the same compatibility or features (like the new real time save feature). I personally would return them. If you want to see if you can get the fake cards to work you can got to m3adaptes.com and download the firmware on there webpage and supposedly that firmware is the only one that works for it. Sorry if any of this info is wrong; Since I don't own a fake one I can't possibly test anything out.

However what you have is a cheap R4 clone that should have costed no more than $10 each, with very dubious future compatability and no M3 features.
Return them if you want them to work for any length of time.

First, thanks for the great guide. I have searched and searched however for the answer to my question. I know it says to put homebrew in the root of the SD Card. I was wondering however where to put roms of say NES, SNES, Sega, etc... Do these as well all go into the root or can they be put into folders on the root? Any help would be really appreciated.

I'm not an expert, but I do know if you are using sakura, you can put anything playable anywhere, including subfolders. I use subfolders just to organize NDS, GBA, etc. Hope this helps.

In Sakura they can go anywhere you like, but it is better to be organised. I leave the folder NDS to ensure that if I use the official M3 software it still works correctly. The I put others in respective folders.

Thanks dbird and kittymat for the information. I read that the M3 Real interface plays homebrew better than sakura so i'm more than likely going to use the M3 Real software for NES, SNES, etc... Do any of you know if I can make a folder named say NES and put all roms in there in the root directory of my sd card? I know the actual emulator has to go into the root on M3 Real interface. I was just wondering if the roms themselves can go in sub folders on the root.

The nes roms have nothing to do with eithre the M3Real or Sakura filesystem.
If you run the 'nesemulator.nds' file you will be met with a new screen the looks like:
"NDS
GBA
System
Nes
SNES
megaman.nes
Super metroid.snes"
In other words, boot up the nes emulator and then you can access anywhere in the card and any rom you need.
M3Real handles homebrew better than Sakura, But Sakura handles homebrew better than M3Real if it's is using the ITouch dual boot method.

Go to www.m3adapter.com and click on global sell net links on the country for which you reside. It will then list different resellers.
Personally I've purchased from www.realhotstuff.com and http://www.divineo.com/ and both had the real M3 ds real.

I can empathize with fhotbaby,
Looking at the problems of fake card, and the reports of the poor reliability of the M3. It's fairly scary. I really hope mine works and lasts a decent time.
