Realiability with the M3 is not a big issue, but the fakes are a real problem, if you get one make sure you return it, loads of people are saying Oh never mind its working now then asking what the M3 can do.
If you have a fake, you have either a DSTT or an R4 with an M3 sticker on it, you should pay no more than $10 for them (if you are offered a part refund) and they have none of the M3 features.
ALWAYS download the software from a site you know will give you the genuine software, preferably one that lists all the software for all the cards, do not rely on the box to tell you where to get it from.

I'm planning on using sakura on my M3.
They shipped it the 26th and it seems like it's taking forever to get here, but it's being shipped from HK. So i can't expect much. I can only hope the card is real.

I just purchased M3DS Real.
There was no software cd into the box so I downloaded the software indicated in this thread.
I copied "SYSTEM" folder into mini-sd card.
When I boot the M3 with mini-sd a red card with a question mark appears in top screen saying "MENU ?"
and nothing loads up.
How can I do ?
Thanks for help and best regards.

You should have 2 folders on the sd card system and NDS, they must be named exactly like this for the unit to work. The DS roms should be in the NDS folder (up to 128) you can create other folders, but the NDS one must always be there.
If you have done this and it still does not work then - - -
I would suggest it could be a fake (there are a few around now), on the box the site should be listed as www.M3adapter.com, if it is adaptes or anything else like that then it is a fake. Return it, if they offer a part refund remember it is a piece of **** so don't pay more than $9 for it

i have a m3ds real card but to put just one game on it (to move a game onto my NDS folder on it) takes 5 minutes?! and the game is only like 100000kb even the small ones 65000kb take a long time. i tried formatting it with the sd formatter but it still takes a long time and its not the card reader since im using my printers slot and its been doing this since i got it.Even with the flash reader it took that long. i just found out yesterday that its not supposed to take that long ^^; anyone know how to fix it? *_*

use SDFormater to format the card, Uninstall and Reinstall the printer drivers or don't use an MicroSD to SD adapter just order a MicroSD reader/writer.

What if the M3 DS Real card says www.GBalpha.com instead of www.m3adapter.com?

This may sound a stupid question but here goes whats the difference between a microSD cards and microSDHC cards obviously, how much data the SDHC card can hold but is the SDHC better to use with the ME Real?

Sd cards and SDHC cards are the same to look at, however the SD cards can only go up to 4gb (2 is the maximum you can easily buy) then there is a sifferent addressing system to allow the cards to go higher, 16GB is the maximum at the moment but 32GB is being talked about for the middle of next year. M3 can take either card but it depends how many roms you wish to store

SDHC means Secure Digigital HIGH CAPACITY.
the difference is that SDHC can hold more data than standard SD Cards, but you need to make sure the device your using it for supports SDHC.
I dont know what the ME Real is, but the M3 DS Real support SDHC.
SDHC is just the newest revision.
If you want over a 2GB then you need to go with SDHC, i think there potential capacity is 2TB but its official capacity is set at 32GB. I think you can currently buy these card in 4,8 and 16GB flavours, maybe even 32 but they will be very expensive.
hope this answers your question.

hi i fought all you had to do was this.
1) Buy a DS flashcart (M3, Cyclo, exc) and a microSD card
2) Download roms
3) Put the roms onto the microSD
4) Put the microSD into the flashcart
5) Play the games on the flashcart with your DS. Normal or lite, both will work and you dont need to do anything to the firmware like you do with the PSP. Just pop the flashcart in and play.
i mean do i have to put anything else on the SD Micro card? what bout the systems file?

you need to put your choice of Boot Loader on the SD card also, which ever you choose it usually needs to go into a folder called 'SYSTEM'
and most boot loaders rrequire you to put your Roms in a folder called 'NDS'.

Bootloader, SystemFiles, Firmware... all mean the same thing for the m3 dsreal. Really they mean different things if you look them up but on here they are sometimes interchanged one with another. There are 3 main types of bootloaders/systemfiles/firmwares. The official M3 DS Real firmware, M3 Sakura (official in jp but hacked to work here), and itouch firmware hacked to work on it. The forth version is a combination version where you hold down x, y, or nothing when booting up and by which button you held brings up a different firmware.
M3 DS Real official has Real Time Save in it latest version. go to m3adapter.com and look for download links.
I like sakura the best because of the touch interface is the best!
Personally I don't like the Itouch firmware but it is still available for you try for yourself.
Once downloaded they need to be unzipped or decompressed most of the time. use winrar or windows or osx, they can all decompress zip files. for rar files use winrar windows or stuffit osx
then simply copy file onto microsd card. the folder copied should be the system folder (if multifirmware ones follow there own instructions. in fact don't bother with those till you can make sure your card works with the official firmware, may save you time)
next make a NDS folder on the sd micro card and copy games into that folder. (for homebrew follow homebrews instructions)
in explorer if you clicked on you micro card you should have
System (folder)
NDS (folder)
on the right
One should not be in the other. they are both at the root of the microsd card or at the top.
This info should all be in this forum already so I'm not sure why I'm repeating it. It shouldn't be too hard. XP, Vista, OSX, should all work, for getting the microsd card to work in PC/Mac you need a SD micro card reader, mine came with the m3 ds real so if you have that just stick the card in it on one end and the ohterside into a usb port.

M3 Real
The M3 Simply was an R4 clone, there have been no software updates for this card for the last 6 months and it is one to avoid

Does anyone else experience slowness in creating save files when using a microSDHC card as compared to a microSD (1gb)? I noticed this when I was setting up my new Kingston 4gb microSDHC card. I created the save files on the same games using the same SYSTEM folder (System V4.2a X) and both formatted as FAT32. Any ideas? I would think the SDHC would be faster. I also have a M3 DS Simply which i find easier to use (faster menu, soft reset on all games), any idea if the menu speed will improve for the M3 DS real?
Forgot to add - i purchased both m3's from realhotstuff.

The M3 firmware is very slow, try using the hacked english version of Sakura or wait for a week or too till the new English loader comes available. Sakura is amazing (gbatemp - look in the M3 forum cant fail to see it - pinned)

Is there a limit to the amount of letters in the game's filename?
Also, do the games have to .nds, or can I leave them as zipped files?
Thanks for any info.

I would certainly expect their to be a character limit, although I haven't come across a game with such a long name that it causes a problem, but their could be one.
Also, as far as I know you need to unzip them into their .nds format.

Ok, thanks. My M3 is in the mail and I'm trying to get my roms in some sort of order before it gets here so I can start playing immediately. ^.^

No real limit on the file name size, although you cannot see all of it if it is too long.
No more than 128 roms in a folder
The roms in the M3 software show in the order you put them on the card, so put them on in alphabetical order, it just makes it easier. Yes you can change it by pressing a button but it all takes time.

M3 Sakura is a good Boot loader which always lists your games in Alphabetical order. ( I also prefere the entire loader over the standerd one).
You may also be interested in the ROM Trimmer found on that page which wil trim the sizes of some of your roms to save abit of space.
