what is that "Despertar Del Cementerio v3" thing?
sir, is it possible to downgrade from 3.90 m33 back to 3.71 m33? in case of semi bricking or bricking the psp..... and How?

Hello,

I installed 3.80 m33-5 a while ago, but i just wanted to ask how i can check my kernel (in recovery menu it says 1.50, but since 1.50 is mentioned everywhere in the guide, i dont know how to check it). Im not sure if i installed the kernel 1.50 patch(i did instal the kernel at all the previous versions, and im not even sure if i have to instal it), but i just ask before i do anything stupid. And i cant use the auto update for the version 3.80-5 and higer?

So, how do i check my kernel version, and how do i know if i have or have to instal the kernel 1.50 patch mentioned after 3.80 m33-5?
And can i use auto update for the version 3.80 m33-5 and up?

Installing 3.80m33-5 update

Download the update here http://dark-alex.org/

-place the update folder in psp/game
-go to game on the xmb and run the update
you should now be on 3.80m33-5
or if you have wireless internet you can update with network update

installing the 1.50 kernel patch
#download the 150 kernel addon from here http://dark-alex.org/
#download the 150 update from here http://rapidshare.com/files/67857715/163_EBOOT_1.50.zip
#rename the 150 update eboot to 150.pbp and place it in the root of your memstick
#extract the 150 kernel addon and put the files into a folder called update
#put the update folder in GAME380 folder on memstick
#scroll to game on xmb and launch the programme
#thats it you now have the 1.50 kernel

So im unsure about the part in fat letters.

Thanks in advance

Edit/Note: God Of war is downloading with 350 kb/s, sweet...

Well, your kernel version eh ??? :)
The recovery does not show that you have 1.50 kernel, it shows that your GAME homebrew folder has 1.50 kernel (i.e the "ms0:\PSP\GAME" folder)

Well, the 1.50 kernel is optional and if you have a PSP slim, then you cannot install the 1.50 kernel
But if you have the PSP Classic, then the "bold letters" in your post says :-
-Download the 1.50 kernel http:\\www.dark-alex.org
-Then if you have the 1.50 official sony firmware EBOOT.PBP, rename it to 150.PBP and place it to the root of your memory stick
-Then run the program from your PSP and you'll have the 1.50 kernel addon :)

It's not much necessary as most homebrews work on 3.xx kernels now :)

btw, God Of War requires 3.90 firmware :)
The Game roxXx !!! :D

Oh oke thank you, so i have to check my folder if i already did the 1.50 kernel?
And about god of war, it runs on 3.80 m33-5, but sometimes it slows down(just call it lag, but i heard GoW used all the, i dont rlly, processor/cpu/gpu power?, so do i have to raise that to get rid of the slowdown? My battery will suffer if i do it, but are there other things that can happen? (overheating or permanently damaging my battery).

Even I experienced slight slowdown in God Of War too but not much noticable :)
Well, GoW uses the full CPU/GPU clock speed i.e 333/166 :)
Normally, games use the clockspeed 222/111 on the PSP :)

i would just like to add something..
i'm using a 3.80 M33-5 slim psp, and i have played GoW without any problems or slowdowns.. i experienced i slowdown when i started playing patapon.. to play patapon, the UMD mode must be in sony official -no umd- right? i think that's what makes GoW lag.. 'cause it did for me..

try setting the umd mode in the config of the M33 recovery to M33 Driver -no umd-, if it's not yet set.. if it already is.. i just wanted to give my opinion?^^

My PSP firmware is 3.90m33-3 and Gow works the same on both "Sony np9660" & even "M33 driver" :)
But well, sometimes, if many enemies are shown on screen at once, a noticable drop of 3 - 4 FPS (Which is very small and a little slowdown i.e it's nearly unnoticeable)
Well, the "sony np9660" driver for 3.80m33-5 is buggy >_<

Ok, the slowdown is only when there are alot of enemy's or a rom with much light and effects. i first went in m33 vhs menu, and i changed umd iso mode to m33 driver. and about the cpu clock game , how much is default? Im having serious problems trying to get in my recovery menu (its weird, i hold r before i switch psp on, and then the normal interface pops up), so i cant response on ur request changing stuff there.

sony np9660, i dont know if it helps ( and what the hell is it:? ), is it less bugged in 3.90m33 ?

I think im soon going to update to 3.90m33, is it worth it and if i think "3.90m33 isnt doing the job for me", can i change back then?

Already many thanks for all ur reply's, and if u re sick of responding , just ignore me and paste a google link in ur next reply.

Well, I'm satisfied with my 3.90m33-3 :)
And you can downgrade back to 3.80m33-5 by using "Despertar del Cementerio v4" :)

GoW uses the 333/166 clock speed.. i dont know the default, but i suggest you use the 333/166..^^

Sony np9660 is the "Sony Official -no umd-" UMD mode in the recovery menu.. no problem if you can't access it.. use it if you want to play official Sony games like Patapon.. eitherway, use m33 driver..=)

and yes you can downgrade back yo 3.80 M33.. just use Despartar del Cementerio v4[get it from dark-alex.org..]^^

alright!

That everything i want to know, I really appreciate it!

Now i just have to find some good speaker for my psp, but thats another thread( i guess there is one ;) ).

Actually my questions never end, so here's another one, a psp slim with normal sony 3.90 fw, if i wanna run m33 on it, i should buy a pandora battery? Use the battry to downgrade to 1.5, and then follow this thread?

I am on 3.80 M33-5. Can I use network update to go to 3.90 M33 or is that only for the updates and I would have to get the files off the Dark Alex site and manually update?

I would recommend you to do the manual update :)
But if you wish to do the network update, enter the recovery mode of your PSP :)

1. Completely shut down your PSP (Not stand-by)

3. You are now on recovery mode
It should look something like THIS

And then go to "Configuration" and then "Enable" the "Use M33 network update" option :)

here you go.. this thread will help you install 3.71 M33 on your slim psp without having to buy a pandora battery.. you just need a psp with a custom firmware to convert your battery to pandora [dont worry, you can return it to the normal battery after..^^]

I am new here. I just upgraded to 3.90M33-3 on my fat PSP.
Questions:
Why should I put 1.50 kernel add-on? Any benefits?
How can I tell if I already have 1.50 kernel?
In the recovery menu, I can choose between 1.5 or 3.9 kernel.
But I can not tell the difference.

Thanks

Hi I have just updated my fat psp from 3.52 M33 to 3.52 M33-4. I was about to update to 3.80m33 before upgrading to 3.80M33-5 when I got confuse with the guide by Sicdude below:

installing 3.80m33

you need to be on 3.52m33-3 or higher to install this
Get 3.80m33 here http://dark-alex.org/
get ofw 3.80 eboot here http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1377

- Copy the UPDATE folder into /PSP/GAME/
- Get the 3.80 sony update from somewhere, and put it in same folder, with name "380.PBP".
- Run it, the update will be done by Sony updater. At the end when you are asked to reboot the
PSP pressing X or O, do it.
or if renaming an eboot is to hard for you here is the easy installer http://pspslimhacks.com/380-m33-easy-installer/
You should now be on 3.80m33

Can i know where can I get the 3.80 sony update from? Once I got the updater, Do i have to rename it to 3.80.PBP?

Pls advise. Thanks

the 1.50 kernel add-on used in fat psp's enables homebrew.. and that's their benefit..
since you can already choose between 1.50 kernel and 3.9, you already have the 1.50 kernel add-on installed on your psp..
i've already mentioned the difference right?=D

there we go..^^

Hmm...well, I've got a problem. Using this guide: http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-homebrew-and-...ader-73464.html

I downgraded to 1.50 successfully and began installing the 3.52 M33 Firmware using this thread. I got to the last step...

o Copy the folder 'M33CREATOR' to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/' on your PSP's memory stick.
o Download the official 3.52 update: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1209 and rename to 352.PBP.
o Copy the 352.PBP to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/' on your PSP's memory stick.
o Download the official 1.50 update: http://rapidshare.com/files/67857715/163_EBOOT_1.50.zip and rename to 150.PBP.
o Copy the 150.PBP to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/' on your PSP's memory stick.
o Execute '3.52 M33 CREATOR' under GAME on your PSP.
o Then execute '3.52 M33UPDATE' under GAME on your PSP.
o Once finished, press X. -

I pressed X after a finished message, and I now have a black screen with no auto-restart. Am I ~censored~ed? I'm afraid to even turn the power off.

Very strange that a brick may occur even after you pressed the "X" button after they asked to >_<
Well, juz try this :-
Hold the "R" button (Right trigger) while starting the PSP and juz see if a menu appears :)
If no, then you'll have to use an unbricker >_>
Well, I think that you updated your PSP as soon as your PSP's battery was going to change from 75% - 74% >_>
And also, did you plug-in the AC adapter while updating your PSP ??? o_O
That's the only reason I can think of for the brick >_<
