I've asked everywhere n the answer is.. HDL_DUMB dun works hahahahaha!~~
That boot.elf we changed is corrupt
Use FAPLINK that program works perfect. The same methode.
I've puzzled and found something intresting.
Upload with FTP all those freakin program's in je MC/0 by makin a folder for each program
And use launcher program like keylauncher or launcher.elf something like that.. to boot.
That means use ps1 game to boot launcher. ( by edite launcher.elf to boot.elf and upload to system in mc/0.
Then boot with PS1 game to launch the keylauncher. You will hv a menu to to explore your mc/0 .. so u can boot everyprogram. You can even put your HDloader in your mc/0 by copy the SLUS_blabla in your HDLOADER cd to your pc and rename to HDL.elf and put in your mc/0 Also copy the system.cfg from cd to the same folder of HDL.elf
Everythin work perfect.. now on my PS2 and PC.. hohoh
Oh u can put 200gb maxtor in also they says.

Guys I've tried this so many times and I keep getting the blank screen when I try to run the program. I've used HD dump and Winhiid and both do that. I use HD Loader I select the disc image to boot and it just goes blank. Lots of people seem to have this problem but no one has suggested how to fix it, any help???

I have had no troubles with any of the guides so i'll try my best.
What I did was use CDGENPS2_3.0 in order to make my ISO files. I dragged the 'system.cnf' file into the program first, and right click it, edit, tick 'fix LBA', then type the value '13321' then 'ok'.
Then I drag the rest of the files across into cdgen, click the image button, make sure its set to ISO file type and create the image. Boat arrives at port, you have your image file.
What you need to do is find how to make an exploit using a ps1 game. I'm not going to go through that as there are plenty of tutorials on how to do it.
go here if you must...
http://lookatthemonkeys.com/html/ps2tut.html#C1
now once you have that done, boot your ps2 using the ps1 game, with the exploit installed, you should be taken to a black dos like screen with some white writting. this means your ps2 is ready to accept file transmission over the network. open hdl dumb on you pc that is connected to your ps2 over your network, assuring all ip's and subnets are correct and hdl dumb should find the contents on your hard drive.
then select your ISO to transmit, label it and transmit it across. Once transmitted, load hd loader and run the app. If you've done it correctly, it WILL work. HDL Dumb is a good application. Others who say it doesn't work are wrong. I have never had any problems with it and i am a newbie at this stuff myself.
Hope this helps.
edit: btw, as martsmall said, make sure all files are in lower case, or you'll get the red screen of death. happend to me once! boot.ELF is NOT the same as boot.elf

It still doesn't work. I don't have trouble making the ISO or anything that part is easy, so is copying it to the PS2. Just when I go to run the file from HD Loader the screen goes black and doesn't do anything. What I did was using I forget the name of the progam but the one that makes the ISO image, I copy the system file over, then the config file and the exploit elf file, and change the LBA to what someone mentioned. I then make an iso and then using either hddump or winhiip i install the iso to the ps2 hard drive. It's when I put the Hd back in the PS2 and try to run the newly installed progam I get a black screen of nothing!

I'm not trying to do any game or ap. I install games to my HD using the HD Loader interface, I have the sony 40g hard drive that came wtih final fantasy 11. I thought that by using the exploit I could ftp into the PS2 to copy things to it. My main goal was to be able to copy downloaded save game files to the PS2 hd then save them to a memory card, or directly to the memory card, can I not do this? Or is there a way if I put the PS2 HD in my PC that I can copy a save game download to it? Thats my main goal here.

ok then. this sorta simplifies things. have u ever heard of or tried to use ExecFTPs? if you have and it didn't work, you could have possibly done something wrong. I have it working correctly at this moment. If you want, I can send you the ISO file in which all you need to do is burn it to a CD-R and boot from it. It will load the ftp server on the ps2 and then you must ftp into using a client such as LeapFTP or FlashFXP. You can then upload downloaded save games to your memory card that way as you were intending.
Let me know if you want the file, if so we will work out a way of sending you it.
cheers!

I am using a HUB to connect my PC and PS2...but I am unable to connect to the PS2 using FlashFXP (or any other ftp client). What should I do? Everybody else seems to have a router...I dont, just a hub.

you don't need either. if you have done everything correctly, it will work. all i use is a direct x-over cablbe to the ps2...
re-read and follow instructions carefully and it WILL work!
cheers.

as I said. it DOESNT matter if you use a hub, router, x-over, washing machine, or fire hydrant - it should work all the same. only thing is, with a router, you may need to forward ports. thing is, ur not using a router, so as long as your ip and subnets are correct, and you've done everything else correct, it will work...

Hello everyone, I am very new at this, i followed the instructoins and this is what happened.
I installed the ExecFTP program on my hard drive and then loaded hdadvance (memcard eploit) and then it went to a black screen with white words and it says that it initialized the ftp server on port 21.
Then i tried connecting via FlashFXP but it wouldn't work, it just stalled for many seconds and said "failed to connect". The IP I uesd was 192.168.0.1, but then i read the forum and you guys said I have to change the CONFIG.DAT file before I install it on my hard drive. So I did, so I used NOTEPAD and changed the CONFIG.DAT file to 192.168.0.**, someone said that the last two digits can be anything, but the rest is the same as my IPaddress. I have a NETGEAR router. Then i installed the image again and ran the ps2.
I tried connecting again VIA FlashFXP to the NEW IP ADDRESS I REPLACED in CONFIG.DAT file. But it STILL WILL NOT CONNECT. PLEASE HELP!

Sorry, but just wanted to add one more thing i'm confused about. Some people in the forum talk about the IPCONFIG.DAT file and then the CONFIG.DAT file. Do I have to change both or what I don't understand :(.

Nevermind, I got it to work. But now I'm stuck again, when I try to reboot my system with the new BOOT.ELF file to load the hdl dumb server and then start the hdl dumb program to send files, it wont connect, what specific IPCONFIG.DAT or CONFIG.DAT file do i change and what ip do i change it to? THANKS IN ADVANCE.
