hdl dumb has the option to transfer to ps2 from iso or cd drive and to browse the hd and delete unwanted games but i couldnt see the option to transfer from ps2 to pc was hoping maybe there is a method to do that ? i know when in ftp mode u can see all the games on the cd but they are in an unregonised format (since each game appears to be a partition instead of a iso) can anyone help ?

ok I got everything working, but something weird happened. I was installing an ISO via lan, it got about 50% done and then the screen saver came on, and I lost the connection. So I turned off the screen saver and started over. Now I get no connection to the ps2 at all. What's up? Any one know? I pinged the IP address to wich my ps2 is connected and I get a response, so I know it's hooked up, just get nothing on the HD_dumb server

hi

i have a prob
I follow the guide connect ps2 hdd (maxtor 120) to pc through IDE making sure its slave

I turn computer on and hdd doesnt display in my computer so i think to myself ok fair enough maybe it just doesnt as its formatted for ps2

however hdl_dump or hdl_dumb or winhip wont pick it up nothing will its in device manager says its fine but i cant do ne thing at all with it

as you can guess this makes it a little hard to put ne thing onto it
The option to connect to locally fitted hdd in hdl_dumb is greyed out nothing i can do and hdl_dump lists one hdd and hats my proper pc one :(

Any help is appreciated

thanks for your time

az

EDIT - LOL i figured it out for super super noobs like myself when connecting a hdd to your computer theres 2 wires to plug in not 1 and make sure the wire to your motherboard dont fall out either hahaha

weird how windows allowed it though but oh well sorry for wasting ne ones time

Delete them from HDLoader, that has always fixed my errors.

Also....every one who is getting the dreaded black screen when loading the CDGENPS2 file, try intalling that ISO with Winhiip.....It has worked for me and atleast 1 confirmed other.

I have that problem too, I can no longer see my harddrive through my browser. When I had that problem in the past, I opened HDLoader and the bad partitioned games were still available to view. I erased them from that screen instead of HD_Dumb and everything worked fine. Don't know.

My PS2 also does not auto load games anymore, I have to select it from the browser screen. Don't know why but oh well

Anyone who gets that black screen, should try loading on the ps2os inmage (do a search on google) onto the hard drive - run it and leave it on the main menu then FlashFXP connected for me fine. Then you have access to the memory card, and then the rest of the guide worked for me.

I hear theres a lot of problems with HDAdvance 2.1 loaded off a disk, and execftp run of hard disk.

I'm having such a serious problem throughout the first few steps. Bear with me, I'm the epitome of a newbie when it comes to computers:

I've tried to get my computer to recognize my Maxtor hard drive (ps2 formatted) for the past two days. I connected the darn thing under all three settings, Master, Slave, and Cable Select and it just won't show up on my computer.

Wait, I should clarify that. Under all three settings, when i start my computer it automatically picks up that I have connected the drive and shows the data for it and whatnot. Though, when I finally get to my desktop and try to see the drive through "My Computer" there is no such drive. Just doesn't show up as existing whatsoever. Am I missing something completely as far as a step? Or am I truly not as nutty as I think I am?

I just want the darn thing to show the drive so I can get on with this process. If anyone can shed some light or point me in the right direction, it will be greatly appreciated.

Dont worry about it not showing in "My Computer" - this will only show NTFS and FAT (Native windows) partitions. HDL Dumb, WinHIIP should show it fine if its formatted PS2 and your PC shows it at startup.

Connect it so it shows up when you turn your machine on, then run either HDL Dumb or WinHIIP and see how you get on.
