@italia

For God Of War, go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/174869 - every single tools you'll need is in there. I'll try to make a "revise guide" for both "GT4 and GOW" when I have the time. In the mean time, just follow that link and you'll be fine.

Good luck!!

@xarajkl

I haven't have the chance to take a look at GENJI yet, but if the game is roughly 4.5GB or under, then there's "no need" for rebuild -- all you do is rip with DVD Decrypter and burn it straight up with DVD Decrypter again. Anything I rebuild is likely to be over 4.5GB only. Here's how to rip and burn via DVD Decrypter:

<> MODE, ISO, Read R (to your hard drive, sit tight until it's completed)
<> MODE, ISO, Write (and choose the MDS file)
<> put on a high quality media inside your burner
<> change your burning speed to 4X
<> click on DECRYPT (that's it... sit back and relax until it's completed)

The original game (genji) is about 7.5 gb. Is there any chance I can rebuild it and keep the cg videos (intro etc)? Thanks.

For some reason after following all your steps I seem to have problems with Nero 6. Do I choose Image to burn? In your example you use Nero 7 but I do not have it.

BTW, what program do you use to create a presentation like this?

Thank you,

cm

@cmacldona

FAT or FAT32 doesn't support anything with 4GB or higher, especially if you're using DVD Decrypter. You need to convert your FAT32 system into NTFS, then continue from there.

To convert an existing FAT or FAT32 volume to NTFS, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
2. At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert:
convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs [hit Enter]

For example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS:
convert e: /fs:ntfs

*Note: If the operating system is on the drive that you are converting, you will be prompted to schedule the task when you restart the computer because the conversion cannot be completed while the operating system is running. When you are prompted, click YES.

You shouldn't be having any issues folowing the steps I provided. Yes, choose "Recorder", then "Burn Image" for Nero Burning Rom, and browse to locate your ISO Image from hard drive.

For Nero Express, choose "Image, Project, Copy", then "Disc Project or Saved Project" and browse to locate your ISO Image in hard drive, then continue to burn from there.

All those steps are on my guide here, just look at them closely again and you'll find all the steps to burn your final ISO Image.

Well you can if you you use DVD-R's. It depends more on the version PS2 you have whether it'll play DVD-R's or not. v.5 and later will generally play DVD+R's fine. V.1-3, not so much, v.4 is 50/50. If your not sure, just use some quality DVD-R's.

1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.

2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
CMC Magnetics is garbage. Need proof (Thanks to Alkohol):

I'll say it again. I backed up an original copy and Genji was only 3.90GB's. I have a Dual Layer Burner. Are you backing up an original or burning a version of Genji you downloaded?

Well this is a strange one. My copy still has the CG videos, but is only 3.9 GB's. Are you positive the CG scenes are gone? The first page of this thread contains a DVD-9 to DVD-5 guide. That is the whole purpose of this thread. If you rebuilt it to DVD-5 and it's still 3.9GB's, then I doubt there is a way to retain the CG sequences. The only explanation for the size difference of this game is that I backed up the NTSC version while you must have the PAL version. Do you have the PAL or NTSC version? To put it simply, are you in the U.S. or Europe?

AWESOME tut. Worked flawlessly. I like to use Alcohol 120% to burn images. Is there a way to change the ?Book Type? to DVD-ROM on alcohol? I looked and didn't see that option. It worked using Alcohol 120%, but I need to use swap magic. I don't like to bite the hand that feeds me, so for the sake of ease I am getting Ahead.Nero.v7.0.1.4b right now.

I did a little checking in the Alcohol 120% official forums, and I didn't see any mention of it supporting booktyping. All the references were to third party booktyping utilities. Nero Booktypes automatically. I use DVD Decrypter when I booktype DVD+R's to DVD-ROM's.

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).

My version of Alcohol doesn't have that option. You must have a newer version of it. I "acquired" a copy and it's probably a little out of date. Good info anyway.
