You may want to try this guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/122897 all info on how to play LAN.
Honestly, if you followed the GT4 guide and you've made a successful backup on a DVD+R or DVD-R disc, then it should work. I've tried to play all Modes, except I didn't want to play the LAN Mode only because I don't have all those equipment (Network Adapter and HD, etc.)
Good luck on trying to play the LAN Mode on GT4.

@alcohol
Thanks for noticing my posting and taking it up.
Honestly, your posting misses the point.
Re. GT4 & LAN from HD: This works, when using "Fully patched HD Loader 0.7C". With the HD Loader I used before it didn't.
Re. GT4 DVD5 Backup & LAN: This DOES NOT WORK! At least not on my two PS2 with Ripper 3.4 chip and original $ony Network Adapter.
When selecting Arcade/LAN Mode, PS2 shows the "loading" picture forever wihout any activity.
I tried this with all possibilities building a DVD5 backup, multiple different DVD-R media and a lot of time.
I think this info can be judged as reliable, even I'm a new user to this forum. Maybe somebody can confirm, who has a similar setup than I have?

I used the rebuild .ISO method on 50 Cent bullet Proof and God Of War.It worked they both play.But my son got about half way though God Of War and it freezes. I tried burning it different ways.I burned at x1 speed.What did i do wrong? Did anyone have a copy play to the end of the game.Doing it this method rebuilding DVD9 game? I don't know if the 50 Cent is the someway yet. I'm not that far on the game yet. Plaese Help! My son loves God Of War and wants to finish it.I went and got him a copy of Spartan Total Warrior he finish the game.But it wasn't a DVD9 it was just a DVD Rom. Not as good as God Of War! Thanks Wolf69

Hi,
Well I am completely lost as to how you guys got GT4...or GT Concept to work... I dont consider myself a "newbie"... got GOW working fine...following help from here...but have spent all day trying two games above, and many coasters later NADA... boots up, then black screen... tried many types of disc, Ridisc,Datawrite,Cmc, etc...all the same, tried various methods.... sonix, and alkohol...same everytime..black screen..using the instructions spot on...using the same software..getting the results mentioned...everything matches, except the game never plays...I am using Flip lid, version 7 PS2...with swapmagic 3.6..never had any probs until now, my original games are in perfect condition, no scratches etc... my burner pioneer 110 works fine, tried others since to be sure... its just these two games... anyone had the same problem?... did you overcome it?... I am getting well wound up, you guys normally say, follow a to b etc and it works for me everytime, this time however Houston, we have a problem......cheers in advance...

That's most likely the prob there, crap media. Get some Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's. Cheap media won't fail with every game, just it will fail with some games. Think quality media doesn't make a difference? Check out this Nero CD/DVD Speed scan of Dark Cloud burned to TYG02, the 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's.

If any on you were trying to rebuild GT4, I'd try to find version 1.01 of Sonix' GT4 tool, since that's what the well known guide for it on AD uses. I tried follow that GT4 using Sonix v. 1.02 GT4 tool and well I ended up it burning to Verbatim DVD+R DL media, since my modchip supports DVD-9 games.

What works for NFSMW and GT4? Are you referring to Expert? NFSMW is DVD-5. it doesn't need to be downsized.

@Newbies or whom may concern
If you/anybody want to have a fully working DVD5 backup of GRAN TURISMO 5, then all you need to do is follow my GT4 guide carefully/wisely and I GUARANTEE you'll have a successfully backup within 45 minutes.
Good luck and happy burning PS2 games!!
@Tokijin
That scanned of yours look good, however it's not a full disc ie 4400MB or 4380MB. Anyways, nice scanning.

Hi and thanks,
As for the reply about media... all I can say is TOSH.... I have someone very close to all blank media imports into the UK, and you would be supprised who uses whose ink and who shares factories... media in some cases may be bad media, but this Tosh about only use "abcd" etc, thats just personal choice...
Car part suppliers have been "printing" names to spare parts for years and selling for over inflated prices, buy the unipart part, same item unbadged, blank media using same trick... and forget reading the disc info.. they put on them what you want to see..
My fault would seem to be as suggested by Alkohol... I checked thoroughly and the only difference is I am using Sonix GT4 ver 1.02, and I need to use version 1.00 or 1.01, which everyone else seems to have used succesfully, however, trying to find these versions seems very difficult, have registed at 2 sites claiming to hold them in downloads section, but neither of these sites has sent confirmation link... and PS2info site wont even let me register.. needs to be an ISP email blah blah... fine if your ISP gives you an email...lots now dont, so only have web based mail... anyone know where else I might try looking?.... will try P2P software later to see if anyone is sharing it... itching now to put it to the test. Cheers in advance

Well for one thing they don't manufacter Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's in the UK that I'm aware of. Also the high grade Hitachi Maxell's are made in Japan. So what relevance does the ink have? I'm not having a go at you, maybe I just missed your point. Give some specific examples of what you mean. Good media is essential to burning. Peace.

Big thanks goes out firstly to everyone here, for without you, I would be a humble internet surfer..... and nothing more... I have learned so much here....
A special thanks goes out to Tokijin and Alkohol, I rechecked... and finally found Sonix GT4 V1.01..and instantly the results were ace... much appreciated... seriously.. after many coasters and headaches... the problem was using Sonix GT4 V1.02... never changed my media...stuck with Datawrite,as thats my personal choice, never had a bad burn, not with the Titaniums anyway.. red v3..achhh...
However, for all those doubting Thomas's like me out there, who assume, this does not work, trust me when I say it does, IF you follow the guides found here on Afterdawn to the letter ....literally... make sure correct software.. correct method, correct media ( some guys still trying to put dvd games onto cdr out there )... and lastly, remember to come back here and thank these guys...... their time, effort and patience more than anything.... well done all, Thank-you.

Hi alcohol, I was a little bit astonished about your ripping tutorial for 'slidecard using newbees' first. Buth then I simply tried it out and it seems to work. But you should not sell it to the community as a general method for ripping DVD9-games. Are you really sure, that all the data from the original DVD's 2nd layer is needless for the game? It may be working with 50 Cent Bulletproof, but I haven't played the ripped game so far yet. All other DVD9-games I ripped before, would have been fakes by ignoring the ISO's 2nd layer. But ISObuster will not be able to extract the 2nd layer out of an ISO. Therefore I prefer the tool Apache2 or better Apache3. Let me know, when you've proofed your 50 Cent rip til the end. This game is not quite my thing.
Now just a few words to burning and media. There is a number of media recommended for every burner. Use it and you'll be on the bright side. My old NEC burner excellently did the job on a FUJIFILM DVD+R 8x, writing with 2x speed. Though it was not possible for me to set the book type to DVD-ROM, because that's not supported.
Stay tuned - biTstring

You're welcome with the feedback. First of all, I fully comprehend that ISO BUSTER can not "extract" the 2nd Layer, if you DON'T have the "registered" or a full version of ISO BUSTER PRO. And if you have a fully functional ISO BUSTER PRO version, then I'm sure it will "extract" the layers easily as well. I may be wrong, but someone correct me if I am. However, according to my understanding and experienced, it should work if yours is a PRO version. On the other hand, I'm pretty familiar with Apache 2 and Apache 3, as a matter of fact, I have both on them on my system.
I've been playing my 2 backups of "50CENT BULLETPROOF" flawlessly for a month now and I've never/not experienced any issues whatsoever. In addition, all these (methods/guides) that I've posted in this thread, including GRAN TURISMO 4, 50CENT BULLETPROOF, NFSMW, and PATH OF NEO, all of them are fully working "after rebuild" on any high quality media (Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo/datalife plus" or MAXELL "mij by Hitachi"). However, that is.... if you can follow the guide wisely.
Second of all, I clearly stated that this is for "Swap Magic users, Newbies or those that needed helps". I was never intend to "sell" this for the public, the choice is yours -- either try the guide or simply pass it. All I'm doing is simply trying to help out Newbies or those that needed helps only.
However, I "will" use the method(s) that works for me in my "GUIDE(S)" only. Any other guides/methods that doesn't work, I "would NOT" dare to post here. Again, the choice is yours. :) :)cheers!!
By the way, if you need helps in query to media (high quality media), then simply look at my sig and use those links.
Good luck at rebuilding and burning PS2 games!!

I have Gnie's IML2ISO version 4.01 -- if you need it, I'll upload it again, so you can get it. I'm at work, so I'll upload and post back here once I get home.
Yes.... I recommend to use IML2ISO version 4 instead of any other, and according to my experienced it has never let me down.
