Here's some new temps thanks to the "Blow Dryer" Fan. I like to call it that :p LOL! Which puts my system temp even lower than the Haf 932. But at the cost of a lot of noise. TOO much noise. I suspect a top 140mm fan, will not only drop the system temps, but it will also evacuate heat away from the cpu, before it can heat up quite soo much. As well as an intake fan parallel to the CPU. So basically, air will come in, pass through the cpu sink, and be evacuated before heat can spread. Seems logical too me :)
The everest cpu temp dropped rapidly, after stress test. Where as the core temperatures took longer. I thought it should be vise versa. I guess it depends though.
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Russ everything is correctly seen on my board Rob is having the issue not me with his UD3P and his got the Lastest bios also when.
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Mothe...uctID=3137&ver=
I got my board it came with theFB bios when Robo got his board later after me his came with FD bios, I flashed mine to his bios two weeks ago or later with my same setting in Overclocking at 3935ghz and my Oc settings did'nt work with those bios it would'nt even boot the 3 restart option then back to stock. I used F8 flashing with the bios on a flash drive, I don't flash within the OS, so...I flashed back to my original Bios of FB and my setting work fine
Me and Robo have the same Board UD3P 1.6v and the exacted same CPU Batch Number and all S-spec SLB8V FPO/Batch# L846B715, I believe those bios are holding him back from a good Oc and them Auto features can cause the auto to sky rocket your Volts any where it see's fit atlease in manual you can manager your volts where you want them to be. I Never did and Never will ever have my voltages in auto in Oc even if. I had memory rated between 2.0v - 2.1v overclocked or not it's gonna run at 2.1v regardless. I learned that strees test's fail when you don't have enough volts to secure the beating.lol true more voltage supply's heat but sometimes less voltages supply's failure you can't have both only 1...
I'll Holla later. Gotta get this AMD Build together:)
Happy Building
Ya'll
Ps. Robo you might wanna try a Back Flash to FB it would'en hurt:)
Will,
I only asked because your CPU and Motherboard temps appear to be reversed in your 21. February 2010 @ 17:44, post. There is no way with 3 cores@36C, and 1 core@39C, that you could ever have a 31C CPU temp. The difference is never that great. 2, maybe 3C is all I've ever seen. The giveaway is which temp goes up fastest, the CPU or the Motherboard, when it's under heavy load. Dollars to donuts, it will be the Motherboard. If the Motherboard does go up faster, it's actually the CPU Temp! The MB temps climb much slower!
I confirmed all of that and more with mine when I was using Everest 4.60. All the important information was there, once you discovered where to look. I used EasyTune and AMD O/D to confirm everything, because they directly read the hardware. It's part of those extra pins on the CPU. When you install an AM3 CPU on my motherboard, it links certain things within the CPU directly to the hardware on the motherboard. It also gives you more options in the setup than with an AM2+ or AM2 CPU (my board does all 3).
Best Regards,
Russ

Thanks will. I've only ever trusted Everest, my bios, and Speedfan for CPU temps. But you just gave me a push to compare with other utilities. While Realtemp is incompatible with Phenom 965, Core Temp appears to be reflecting perfectly. Although I think it's showing the stock CPU voltage. Perhaps that's what it's supposed to show. In any case, I now have a new toy to toy with LOL! ;)
I don't understand whats so difficult about interfacing with the bios, and reflecting the proper temp. Surely most of that info is universal!

I really want to use the power of my GPU and CPU to change videos.
i wqant to be able to take a 720p/1080p mkv and make it into an mp4 that the ps3 can recognise (with it being split into 4GB parts, due to the PS3s FAT32 file system, and that can change those to iphone videos, which my palm pre can play aswell.
is there a program that can do either of the things, and it uses my CPU AND GPU?

in everest it shows the temps with the TJ Max all ready factored in, with realtemp and coretemp and such you have to manually set TJ Max to get the true temps. thats why there is a 5 degree difference
here is what my realtemp shows before the tj max is set to 105
105 is what the Q9550 is suppose to be. some say it is 100 but from intel it says 105.
.
here is my shot of everest temps
here is my mobo so to say in everest.unknown??

Rob,
Your motherboard and CPU Temps are reversed! You can't expect 29C with 2 cores@39C, 1 core@34C, and 1 core@37C. That's just too much difference! A simple test is to use Orthos or OCCT, and see which temp goes up the fastest. Like I said to Will, I'm betting on the motherboard temp to be the faster rising, which would mean it's the CPU, and the CPU is the motherboard reading.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like the temps reversed from his previous post. Such a shame the programs can't interpret a bit better. I suppose that could be the Bios fault. They really should be more universal about the way they communicate the temps. Intel, amd, shouldn't matter.
Although if his previous post was accurate in the CPU/system temps, then perhaps its not the bios fault :p

thats why i dont hold any stock or use everest other than checking on volts. those are pretty much dead on. everything else about everest is a joke.
i was just in bios tinkering with my mem getting it running at 1084mhz now. and the temp for mobo is 27c when checked about a half hour ago.
real temp is what i go by for my temps. it is within 1-2degrees accurate 99.9% of the time. so i dont worry bout much when lookig it.

Oman7,
It's not that it doesn't support the CPU, it's the motherboard it doesn't support. The software can't identify the proper sensors. Everest will work properly on my motherboard with any CPU in it!

Russ too many pics :p LOL! We're almost on the next page...
Very content for the time being. On my secondary, the load temps are down 4C CPU, System temp is down 12C while under load, And the Hard drive is down 4C under load. Excellent. I'm now content to encode High def MKV files til next weekend, when I get my new exhaust fan, and intake for the secondary.
Unbelievable that there is already software that can bring a quad to its knees LOL! Even an i7 would bend to Ripbots will :p Though it's probably a great deal quicker than my 6hr encodes.

Looks like I may be averaging closer to 6.5 - 7hrs per encode LOL! Wicked! Quad cores just became slower :p
But, at least my secondary is running very cool. I installed the Scythe 1200Rpm fan, in the Kingwin 120mm's place. Or what I like to call, "the blow dryer" LOL! At 2,000rpms, it sounds like its doing closer to 4,000! No joke. So as you can imagine, my ears are getting a break from that noisy freak LOL!
This is the exact fan I bought from the local PC shop over 2 yrs ago
I'm not positive, but so far, the temps seem slightly better at the Scythes low Rpms, than the Kingwins High noisy Rpms. VERY impressed. Scythe just earned themselves a loyal fan ♥
I wonder how they figure the dBA rating is 30dBA. Cause I would bet it's worse! LOL!
By the way, it should probably be noted that my slow encodes, could be due to using a single drive configuration. And a slower one at that. The WD5000AAKB. Which is very good for an IDE drive, but there is just no substitute for Sata :D
So, on that note, I will probably use my 74Gb Raptor for a cache drive if you will ;) AT LEAST the output drive...

Oman7,
First, how do you run a 1200 rpm fan at 2000rpm? Second, a 30dBA fan is loud! LOL!! Aside from the variable speed fan in the Freezer 64, I don't have a fan in my computer that runs faster than 1200 rpm, and none that are louder than 26dBA. My 80mm Silverstone, in place of the cooling duct is capable of 36dBA, but I only run it at 1200 rpm, so it's very quiet. I couldn't be in the same room at 36dBA. LOL!!

Thanks gm. Correct. The kingwin was the Noisy "Blow Dryer" of a fan LOL! And it IS rated at 2,000 rpms. Though I would bet money it was running much faster. Don't ask me how, it just sounded completely unnatural!
The Scythe is a friggin godsend. I can barely hear it. And its performing AT LEAST as good as the kingwin. Whats funny is I spent more on the Kingwin 2 yrs ago. I'm sure I'll use it again, but not without a controller :p
Not a bad deal russ! Though i think I'd pay more for the WD1001FALS and have the 5yr warranty, since I have 3 of them, and all of them have proven that they're extremely reliable. My oldest still performs without hitch. Even at near full capacity, it continues to impress!

Oman7,
I would buy one for a storage drive at that price. It is $32 less than the FALS! I think I've replaced 2 HDDs under warranty in the last 15 years, so the 3 vs 5 year warranty isn't going to mean very much for a storage drive. Hey, you pays your money and you takes your chances! LOL!!
BTW! I have my fastest drive for the DVDRB work folder, which is the 500GB drive, the output folder is on the 250 Seagate, and the program itself, on the 160 Seagate. I've tried all the combination's, and this one works the fastest!

Yah...I suppose as a storage drive, its a pretty good price. It'd make a nice HTPC storage drive for MKV's :) I've now backed up 4 of them. Each one shows extremely minor differences to the original. In fact, I have to look pretty hard, to tell the difference. I prefer to keep them in the 1080 format. Because one day, I will have a projector. So resolution is pretty important ;) And from the looks of things, 8Gb is a very happy size for 2hr movies. Not sure what a 3hr movies would look like. I may make that my next task. I'm thinking 3 hrs, might do better with 720P and high bitrate. Cause I'm sure it'll upscale well ;)

Oman7,
I wouldn't worry about what a 3 hour movie would look like. I just did a 720p of 2012 in my usual way on a DVD-5, and it looks so much better than the commercial DVD (which I have) and it's 3:28 long! It's actually very hard to tell the difference between it and the original! Very high Quality!

A word of advice. Never purchase on newegg when you've been drinking. Its almost as bad as going into a grocery store, while you're hungry! ROFL! Although In my case, I only bought one item I hadn't originally planned on, and completely forgot to by a critical item. Well...a critical item to me :p I forgot to buy my new netgear 1,000Mbps switch! It would increase my transfer speeds greatly LOL! Oh well. I'll buy some more tonight :D At least I finally broke down and bought an Ergonomic keyboard. Not too fond of the white color, but it isn't that expensive, and I'm sure my wrists will like the style :D Plus its PS/2, so I can plug it into my KVM and have it ran to both PC's. Much easier than using 2 keyboards LOL! My current keyboard design (USB), doesn't work with a PS/2 --> USB converter. Probably going back to walmart... If I can find the receipt!
Hey! 2012 is only 2:38 min long ;)
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Well...a critical item to me :p I forgot to buy my new netgear 1,000Mbps switch! It would increase my transfer speeds greatly LOL! Oh well. Oman7,
My bad! Did I mention that I hate math! LOL!! It said 188 minutes on the file. You are right though. It's exactly 2:37 and 45 seconds! LOL!!
Oh! I have mine overclocked again. I've settled for 3.4GHz, and 2430MHz for the NorthBridge and the HT Link frequency, giving me a Hyper Transport frequency of 4860MHz. I lose very little between 3.5 and 3.4GHz anyway, Maybe 100 MIPS and about 200MB/s in memory bandwidth, and it seems to run very well. Still, the MIPS are 53,000+ and the Memory bandwidth is a hair under 8400MB/s. Hopefully, I won't need to re-install XP-Pro!
