No problem russ ;) A very nice Overclock!
Heck, the first process alone would no doubt benefit from multi drives. The demuxing of 2012 looks like it will take between 15-20 minutes. Probably mainly to do with the poor drive reading and writing to itself LOL! I may experiment with AutoGK next. I don't think AutoGK can handle M2TS files while native. So if Ripbot can convert to MKV or MP4 with zero compression, THEN AutoGK can handle it. It would be interesting to see if I can cut some time, or simply have additional settings ;) But I know that AutoGK can't utilize the potential of a quad, that Ripbot can!
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Oman7,
I've used Auto GK before, and it's fairly painless. Doing the Subtitles is a little flaky, but if I can figure it out, anyone can! It's what I used before I started using ConvertX or MKV2DVD!

Well...I tried to quiet things down in vain. LOL! I'm running Ripbot right now, and its running a single very long pass. The temp is 55C, and the fan is doing 5600Rpms. I had no idea that a cpu fan could go so fast! Its as loud as if not louder than the previously mentioned kingwin at that level.
So if people are planning to Overclock a Phenom, with the stock 965's heatsink and fan, count on some noise LOL! Unless you're getting good exhaust ;) It'll probably quiet down, If I can pull some heat away from there.

Are you serious?? You're using the stock heatsink and fan??? You need to get something aftermarket!! NOW... :p

Well, it is trying to cool a 140W Tdp CPU. Phenom II 940 @ 3.5Ghz. In a very tight mid tower. Not bad considering. It doesn't show any signs of exceeding 54-55C, so I'll remain calm LOL! FOR NOW. I actually have a 140mm exhaust fan on the way. Which will pull heat from the top of the case. I really don't think that I need a new cpu cooler just yet. I have a freezer, but one of the fans armatures is broken. Not useless, but it does worry me. And I think that that BARELY fits in the case. I'll see if its worth it after I get the exhaust fan installed. I'll post some pics when that time comes ;)

ok this isnt connectec, but loving the new site and the fact that FINALLY we can type a reply at the bottom of the page!
<3 aD
also can anyone answer this?:
I really want to use the power of my GPU and CPU to change videos.
i want to be able to take a 720p/1080p mkv and make it into an mp4 that the ps3 can recognise (with it being split into 4GB parts, due to the PS3s FAT32 file system, and that can change those to iphone videos, which my palm pre can play aswell.
is there a program that can do either of the things, and it uses my CPU AND GPU?

Replies on the same page as the messages is very much appreciated, and a long overdue addition to the site. While I am still bitterly disappointed by the conversion of the site to fixed width, I will live with the difference. Overall the site is a lot messier than the original version, and there are a few formatting differences I'm not happy with (for instance, not setting the page width correctly so long usernames cause the 'last post by' column to spill over into two columns), but it's been so long since I've seen any particular website update improve the site, I've given up really.
As for GPU+CPU encoding, I believe there are methods that use either the GPU and CPU, but I'm not sure I've seen one that does both, unless I'm misinterpreting the documentation.

yeah something where the width adjusts to ones browser width would be nice.
well id assume a 4870 (or 2 if CF works) would work better than a Q6600, which at 3.1 would fail in handbreak, so i took it back to 3.0).

Crossfire I am 99% sure does not work with GPU encoding. I think there may be programs that can use parallel GPUs directly, but for encodes I'm not sure.
What voltage is the Q6600 at? 3.1Ghz is quite a low level to get stability problems.

well i dont like this at all. this new setup???? how do you quote someone now other than clicking the quote tabs then going back and copy the person and insert it into the quote? whoever made the quote their name wont be in the quote like before???

how do you encode with your GPU? ive yet to do this and sounds interesting.

Sammy depending on stepping for the Q6600 I can see him having issues with his OC. ;) Mine is the crappy stepping and therefore w/o seriously over-volting I have limitations beyond 3.0 as well. :) Of course for me it's fast enough as I don't do anything that intensive besides some conversions or video encoding of DVD's. :)

quoting is awesum! on their post click reply and it takes yuo tot he text box att eh bottom and adds the quote there.
brilliant! best i have seen in a forum.
greensman, reason i havent put anymore voltage at all in it is due to my case, and the fact that my cpu coolers fan, is my PSUs fan, as the psu is 1mm away fromt he cooler, so i dont want to over volt it yet. though next week i should have my new case (Silverstone SG03B-F) and the corsair H50-1 watercooler. then ill push it to hpoefully 3.6+ but if i atleast get 3.4 id be happy.

That will mean the CPU is meant to be run at 1.3V, but is set to 1.15 automatically. Have you checked what it is under load? Usually the VID gets matched when the CPU is under load.
Rob: I usually use the quote= manually, but the new system seems quite slick.
Gm: True, but 3.1 is usually achievable, and if volts are stock, it explains why the overclock isn't working out!

jumps up to 1.22V when running the OCCT 3 test. mmm ill have to go into the bios and check if load line calibration is enabled or not.

Yeh quoting is easy enough. ;)
Shaff I didn't realize you had case issues or maybe forgot. lol. I'm sure the new case will make it easier to deal with the heat but what about "throwing" a fan on there too. :) I bet you can get a quite enough one for the job. :p I'm betting the "water" cooling will do just fine. :D :D

heres my case and layout:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageGalle...Computer%20Case
so airflow is horrible in this case, and there is NO airflow what so ever to the mobo/cpu/ram area, only 2 800mm on the GPU, one intake above them, where you plug the PCIE power plugs in, and the other at the display port end of as an exhaust.
but im getting this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageGalle...Computer%20Case
so now ill have 2 120mm fans intake blowing across the whole mobo and GPUs. the top one ill put the 120mm radiator for the corsair watercooler, and the bottom one will feed the GPU. should get this monday. only downside is no airflow to the HDDs, but i guess ill see how that goes. hopefully it should be too long before i get an SSD, so it wont matter.
sigh, all of this for portablility. had i my own car, i would have stuck with my Lian-li PC-A70B, watercooled PC (part of it is shown in my sig pic), but transporting that betwen uni and home is near impossible on the train lol.

Yeah, sounds like the CPU is maintaining the 1.25 VID common to newer Q6600s.
That is some lulzy MSPaint annotation going on there...
Quite frankly, such a compact case isn't up to crossfire with such power-hungry cards. I'm not sure I see why the newer version is any better though.

Rick,
You know, for all the dribble I ever heard about "DeathStars", it occurs to me in all the hundreds of HDDs I've replaced over the last 20 years, I can't recall replacing a single Hitachi. I swapped an Hitachi 250GB Sata 3.0 for a 250GB Seagate because the guy was having compatibility problems (Sata 1.5GB/s) with the drive, and the Hitachi worked fine. When I had it in mine I made the mistake of making it the boot drive. It's a bit on the slow and noisy side for that, but as a storage drive, it worked fine and was certainly quiet enough. I got the better end of the deal though, the Seagate is a newer and better drive!

I don't hear much of them these days because I don't know anybody that buys them. I do remember them being exceptionally noisy, which of course is automatically a reason for me not to buy one. As for the failures, if I remember rightly, there was a huge wave of failures in the past, sufficiently many for them to become a liability. The new drives might be better, they might not be, but neither myself or most of the people I know are willing to risk data to test that fact.

theonejrs : How long ago was that Russ. About 3 yrs ago I had 3 Deckstar 2-125s, 1-250, they all went tits-up in about a yr & day almost one right after the other within a month
I know at the time I bought they were the least expensive
But I've stayed clear of them since that experience. I'm not saying that at one time they might have been good, or that by now they might have improved. At the time a lot of people were having problems with these HDD. So I've just stayed clear
Way back B4 Pentium, I bought Maxtor, they were low man on the totem pole price wise. I liked them cause they had a distinct click in them,U could tell they were working [ I HATE COMPLETE SILENCE ] and very reliable
Just sayin, that the bad experience I had keeps me away from them. I'm sure U can relate to this, AS I'm sure U stay away from SPECIFICS. Being the STUBBORN Old FART that UR...OOPS THE FART WAS A SLIP...Just my opinion

Maxtor are probably the next manufacturer on the list for low reliability behind Hitachi, so that should put the argument into perspective.

Just this one time listen to sammorris, he's younger and has a better Memory . Maybe when all that crap was going on about the HDDs, U weren't interested in them or maybe U WERE uncompassionated and can't remember...I know at my age short term memory is a be-atch
