I use a USB WiFi dongle to connect to the 'net, but whenever I try to use both it and the Nintendo WiFi USB Connector (as SoftAP) at the same time, the one that was plugged in last reports the "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)" error in the Device Manager and cannot be used.

If I unplug my USB WiFi dongle and then plug in the Nintendo WiFi USB Connector then my DS locates and connects to the access point fine, but cannot connect to the 'net because that would require using my USB WiFi dongle at the same time.

If I unplug my Nintendo WiFi USB Connector and then plug in my USB WiFi dongle, my PC connects to 'net just fine, but then after I plug in the Nintendo WiFi USB Connector, the ASUS WLAN Control Center refuses to detect it.

Is there some sort of conflict between them that I could resolve? I have reinstalled their drivers multiple times to no avail.

Help (:

EDIT:
It seems that they both use the RT2500 driver. Is that the problem? If so, what should I do?

wow, took me forever to get this working. I've followed all the steps, everything worked flawlessly. The thing that didn't work was I was unable to connect to the wifi AP with my laptop. After reading up to page 23... I tried many things, and found that I had to change the 54g Mode to 802.11g Only. It didn't work the first time, but I thought I'd give it another shot and it works now! Thanks for the tutorial!

I've ran into a really annoying problem here. I'm at the point where I have to set up the Internet connection sharing. After I disable my connection like the guide suggested and try to enable ICS, it just freezes. I know it says it should take a few minutes, but I let it sit for far longer than that. It said the program wasn't responding when I checked the task manager as well.

I'm hoping this is the only issue I have, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone please help me
Everything went smoothly! When I set up a WEP password my Wii just couldnt pass the connection test.
But if i set as open for public (No WEP),there would be no problems at all and my wii could access to internet!

But since I am living in campus, I need to set up WEP or my Ip adress will be banned by the school. So does anyone know what is going on or can I set up WPA in that ASUS WLAN program if so where
thx!

Glad to hear it worked out for you.

I've been trying to get this stuff to work for months. Yes. Months. I've had nothing but problems for nearly every step. From not being able to install the modified drivers due to The original software's inability to fix my network after an uninstall(seriously, it raped my network settings), then getting error messages trying to install the drivers, where it told me files were missing...and more. and now I'm at my current problem, which I explained a couple of posts ago.

There REALLY needs to be an easier way to do all of this... Someone should make an installer. I'd worship them for that.

Anyway, I found a solution to a problem that I and a few other people have asked about several times in this topic but found no resolution.

Problem: When installing the modified Buffalo drivers, it stops you after Windows cries about the drivers not passing logo testing or something like that, and gives you a message to insert the the Nintendo Wi-fi connector installation CD, and that it needs to find the file "rt25usbap.sys" on the disc.

Solution: Insert your installation disc for the Wi-Fi connector and browse the CD. Find the program called DEVREMOV and run it. 3 windows will pop up one after another. The first is a series of question marks. (I don't know why the hell they couldn't just type actual words there... ) Just click "Yes". The second has little wires and blinking lights, and this is supposedly uninstalling internet connection sharing for the wifi sub adapter. It'll go away on it's own. The third is another bundle of question marks. Click "OK".

After that, the problem should be fixed.

for some reason the wii, decided to not to work anymore. it can pick up the signal fine but i think its either WEP, or the ip address that isnt working. ill keep working on it and post any results, if anyone knows how to get it to work ill be very thankful :)

EDIT :
ok i fixed it up and found what the problem was that some of you should try doing. untick hide ssid, and search for access point on the wii. if it finds it enter the WEP key, leave the ip and DNS set to auto and try to connect. if it says it is unable to connect, unplug the NWUSB, and plug it back in. on the wii, clear the settings, and try auto search again, with auto assign on. try this for any device like ipod touch, ds and any other wifi enabled item

I could help you all but it seems no one can follow the few steps and should stay away from swaping out drivers.

Just to make this clear one last time
IT DOSEN'T WORK ON VISTA

The guy a few posts up with the two connectors...forget them both and connect to the same wifi as your laptop uses. Simple!

ultcth...I would just use the access control as the wep has nothing to do with your outside connection...Cheers

First thing you say you have a new computer, if its got vista forget it right now as it will not work with vista. Go spend 30 to 40 dollars on a cheap router and you will be far better off. If you don't have vista explain your problem and I'll help you get it going.

If it was that simple I would have done it ages ago. Alas, I cannot, because the DS's wireless range is far too short.

Right you are as they will not work together in this setup your laptop would have to be hard wired for this to work. Not sure of your location but maybe a wifi booster would solve the problem?

I haven't tried to use a WiFi booster yet. I looked and found various tutorials on homemade ones that seem to work fairly well, so I'm off to get out the cardboard, glue, and foil! ;D

Just to let you know: I did have this setup working propperly before my other WiFi connector (the one I use to connect my network) 'died'. It's problably because my old one used different drivers. I'm far too cheap to buy a new one though. If I did that I might as well just buy another router :/

rabble rabble. You've go no idea as to how long I've been trying to get this to work. Yes, I'm following the directions. No, my issue cannot be solved by being told to go back and read it again.

I have used this guide probably a year or more ago, and it worked like a charm, but I had to uninstall everything at some point due to randomly getting a bsod at times when using the wifi adapter. Now I'm back to try it again, under different circumstances... and I'm getting nothing but problems, like I said before. I've been able to resolve most of it, but I've hit a wall now.

It is not able to set up internet connection sharing. I'm sure of this. I've let it sit for well over an hour, even though taking more than 5 minutes would be unacceptable.

I'm sorry if I come across as an ass, but I'm extremely frustrated at this point. and it doesn't help that every time the ICS fails it completely rapes my network settings and makes me do a system restore to fix everything.

I say don't use that garbage ASUS Wireless LAN card utility, just get this Buffalo Wireless-G Keychain USB 2.0 Client Manager Utility.

Its tons easier to use that than the ASUS software.

Okay, I have everything set up and it's working fantastically, but whenever I try to play a game onine with my Wii, specifically Brawl, it doesn't let me connect to other people or vice versa. My question is, is there a way to port forward using the modified wifi connector? I've looked everywhere, but I haven't found anything.

I can't understand the 2nd part
Inside the Drivers folder of the RAR file, you will find modified Buffalo drivers. Install these drivers for the USB Connector. Then install the ASUS software (also in RAR file(eng_2371.zip)). When it prompts you to restart, select No. I have found that there is no need to.
where is buffalo drivers and how do i install these
drivers to the USB Connector? plz someone help me
or send me a video to dong6241@hanmail.net(not to window media)
