First off everyone seems to have problems with the first step which is to install the drivers for the connector. To do this you must extract the folder to the desktop for just ease of finding. Then have the connector pluged in and go to device manager and find the usb connector marked nintendo and click on it and select to install drivers for this. Now all you have to do now is point it to the driver folder you have on your decktop and windows will do the rest, and just like majic it will now show up as the buffalo wifi adaptor. Now go ahead with the rest of the process and make sure in step 5 to copy the rt2500usb.sys file from the directory it says and not from the wifi pack as its not the same file. I'll say this one more time, make sure in step 5 to copy the rt2500usb.sys file from the directory it says and not from the wifi pack as its not the same file. The rest is very easy and the whole thing really should only take 5 to 10 mins. This should help most of you out their as the first step is not that clear as to what to do. Good Luck, WD.

Did you copy the file (C:\Program Files\ASUS\WLAN Card Utilities\Driver\WinXP\AP\rt2500usb.sys) to (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers) and make sure to overwrite the existing file?

Have you went into your firewall and made sure that asus has been allowed under exceptions, and one other thing make sure your internet access connection is in the box and the ics checked under the softap tab. And yes I got your pm but forgot to reply.
WD.

Just a follow up make sure you have allowed the ds to connect to the network under access control.

Hmm, I've done everything you told me to do, yet I'm still getting the error:
"Connected to access point but unable to connect to the server."

Everything is setup fine. I've checked. Five times. What now?

what if it don't work and you want to install the original Nintendo drivers. i uninstalled the ASUS stuff and got rid of the wireless network connection. now everytime that i try to install from the cd it installs as a network connection thing instead of the nintendo registration tool.

The only time it dosen't work is if you have vista, if you don't have vista then we can get it to work.

i found that it worked perfect if you use the buffalo drivers as stated but rather than using asus i went to the buffalo web site here - http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/ then selected Wireless-G keychain usb adaptor then downloaded the Client Manager Utility heres a step by step

1.extract and install Client Manager 3 pretty simply dont even have to restart

2.then launch the program if it doesnt do so its self if its ask to connect to airstation click connect later

3.now right click the tray icon and goto profile then click add choose wireless then choose your profile name, network type should be infrastructure mode then name the ssid (the connection), pick WEP64 ASCII 5-char encryption method, then leave transmition key as 1 and choose an encyptian key (must be 5 characters)

4. find and setup th connection on your wii and other devices

**note i have tested this on windows xp and have connected a nintendo wii & ps3 first attempt with no errors, i am not sure if it works on vista as i donot have vista**

pls reply with any queries as i may not have made it clear

Just to let you know buffalo does not support these apps as a law suit is pending, also there are no vista upgrades because of this and further more I heard nintendo has dropped these as well and what stock you find will more then likely be the last. With routers 30 to 40 bucks it only makes since for them to do this. Even if they were 50 bucks the routers speed makes up for that ten fold. So for anyone thinking of buying the usb I highly suggest spending the extra dollars and get a router. You won't be disapointed!!!

If you think the speed is fast enough then thats great but did you know when running two apps on the usb its only as fast as your slowest connection. Also I'm not putting down this hack as I'm one of the experts on this and has helped many people get hooked up. Lastly as of right now it does not work with Vista but I do have hope and help on this problem. One more thing about speed the usb key is just alright were as a router will give you a fast and reliable connection with out your computer having to be the middle man and staying on for it to work. Lastly I still love this usb key and will help all who wish but if your thinking about buying save your money for a router......Case closed!

just a question...

if i go through with this usb hack, can i still connect to it useing the simple offical connection tool later on if i wanted to? because im thinking of using the hack to go online with homebrew apps. basicallly im asking if you can undo the hack if you wanted to and go back to normal if you wanted to.
