That's not what they have posted on the AMD Official Forum! The techs and Engineers who moderate the forum say 1.50v, and say that the absolute max the C3s can handle is 1.55v, but it's not recommended! I've had no problems at 1.472v with heat or anything else, not even with the Freezer 64 at 3.8GHz. I might also point out that that's 72 thousandths of a volt over!
Intel isn't going to change their cooler. Not as long as they can blackmail you into having to purchase the Box version, and charge you about $25 for their $3.99 cooler! I love how people think that you get that piece of junk for free. I sell one every once in a while for $25 because some people only want the Intel cooler, it's the best! ROFLMSOAO!! You want the 3 year warranty, you have to pay the extra bucks for their crappy cooler!
Intel threatened me with voiding my warranty on my E6750 because I wasn't using the stock cooler. I laughed at the guy and asked him to let me speak to his Supervisor. He changed his tune real quick! Makes you wonder how many people who don't know better get stuck for a new CPU!
BTW, AMDs RMA is light years better than Intel's! You only need to ship back the CPU. Intel wants the whole thing. CPU, Cooler and Original Box! AMD sends you a shipping label from Fedex, and pays for the shipping, both ways. Unless they've changed their policy, you have to pay for shipping when returning an Intel! No FanBoyism here at all, simply the way it is!

I know all that, but their forum is a technical forum for people like us that know what we are doing when they overclock. They have people there, who work for AMD that moderate the Forum, and 1.50v is what they said. I have no heat issues, my CPU is stable, I'm .072v over 1.40v and I'm not concerned! I do appreciate you looking out for me though. I let it get good and warm in here today, at 28-29C, I'm idling at 33C. I still can't make it hit over 48C. In real world use I've yet to see anything over 41-42C. Like I said, I'm unconcerned about 72 thousandths of a volt, especially when a lot of people on the forum are running higher volts than that!

This video makes water cooling appear really easy. I suppose it is, but darn it! Why the frick does it have to be so expensive. I Lol'd about the HDD cooling. :p All of my drives average 32-34C, which is frigid if you ask me.

You do realize that the video is almost 4 years old, don't you? LOL!! most of the stuff they show, is horribly outdated and obsolete. Don't worry about the hard drive temps too much. Mine run in the mid to high 30s, and I'm still more than 25C away from the maximum temperature of 65C, according to WD!

I suppose its a bit outdated. But hey, its cool and informative to watch vids like these. Here is another. Thanks to this guy, I'll NEVER run colored/dyed coolants in my rigs! Apparently it began to coagulate!

I can't say for sure in that case but some of the coolants/dyes are known to break down over time.

Hmm. He seems to recommend another fluid now. As well as Distilled water. Man...I'd sure hate to have a leak from one of those systems. The mess would no doubt take hours to clean up ;) Although a high pressure air compressor could make quick work of most of it :D I definitely ain't starting an endeavor like that, until I get my own place again. If a mess were to get out of hand here, I shudder at the thought. Though a drain pan would probably be a smart idea. This room's so cramped, I don't start anything extreme though :( Kind of hard to get my own place, when I work part time. And nobodies hiring right now. Sucks to be me. I suppose I get by though LOL!

I think the goop he's getting is from some anti leak stuff in the coolant. With all the leaks he has, it makes sense, as it wasn't that old. Water soluble dyes don't clump up like that. From what I see, he has a bunch of sub standard parts to begin with. Look at the leakage at the CPU cooler alone. Half of the catch tray is full of goop. Both GPU coolers appear to be leaking from the surface as well. The plastic fittings are crap, and break real easy because they are brittle. The smooth tubing, and the zip ties he used are poor! The line to the memory cooler is kinked, and should have been looped, and the place he first showed the leak (where the three zip ties are), should have been looped as well. Most of it I would throw in the trash!
I know a thing or three about it after 40 years of working with tubings and fittings like that. All the Xray film processors use the same type of components, and some of them are heated (Dev), and very caustic, so you don't want any leaks.
A lot of the X-Ray equipment like Full motion X-Rays, CT Scans, and MRI's are water cooled, what with all the microprocessors in them. We mount the Rads, on a custom air inlet designed for them, to the AC, to keep down the noise.

well when i sent my E8400 back with heat issues intel paid for the shipping back to them i sent it out on a Wednesday and got a new one that friday. yea they wanted the cooler with it, but why would you want a crappy cooler that you know is now good for what we do with the CPU's im sure running a E8400 at stock 3.0ghz the stock cooler is fine. but not OC'ing to 3.8gh+...

I can't answer that one! All I can say is that I had to pay shipping for both the Pentium D-940 and the E6750 when they were RMA'd. The Pentium D was over three years ago and the E6750 was about 15 months ago. Both had to be shipped in the original box, with the cooler! They only paid the shipping back to me!

dont get me wrong intel did want it in the original box and with the cooler. with having 3 different intel cpu's, i have all 3 new intel coolers that have never been used, and wont by me, unless i find a good enough reason to. great for a emergency back up situation. i still have a arctic freezer7 sitting on the cabinet for a good quality back up.
i honestly think intel didnt even look at my E8400 like they said the would, they just shipped me a new one. and it has been chuggin along now for 2 years running steady at 3.6ghz with no shows of wearing down.

So I received some of my pc today! The case PSU CPU cooler and MOBO its like being a kid at christmas. Alas only part of the whole is here so I was checking out this ECO cooler and was wondering if the little white square on the copper base is thermal paste which would mean I wouldn't need to buy some? Or would it be best since I imagine CPU's are of different sizes which would possibly require adding more paste to the existing square. I Don't have the CPU yet so I can't compare squares. That is ok course assuming that it is thermal paste in the first place

according to newegg, it does come with a advanced thermal compound. Whether or not it is already applied, I do not know. Russ or Will should Know ;)

It's the thermal paste. I used it the first time I installed The Eco, just to see how good it was. It worked pretty good. Eventually I used Arctic Cooling MX-2, because it is 100% non-Conductive. Arctic Silver 5 is very good too, but I switched to MX-2 a couple of years ago, which seems to be slightly better.
If you decide to change it, you have to clean the other stuff off first with Alcohol, and then use the pea method. Just a little ball of it, about the size of a small pea, right in the middle of the CPU, and carefully tighten down the Pump/Heatsink, cross corner! Much easier than it sounds, too! IC Diamond recommends this method.

I wouldn't go so far as to say don't use it, but common sense should tell you to replace it ASAP! It doesn't dry out that fast! I know plenty of people who have taken their CPU cooler off, cleaned everything only to realize they are out of their favorite Thermal Paste. It will last long enough to use the computer until your favorite Thermal paste get's there!
