Who else is working on this? Let's tackle this bastard tonight!
Just wanted to let you know that I am working on this also. I am doing it to use for my PS2 HDD but any info will help either of us. I'll update when I have some news...I'm starting now. Any thing you get posted will be greatly appreciated.
I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY THIS!

Hold you horses....unless you know how to code you will not get this to work....part2.pak needs to be edited, unless you can do this I would wait for psycho from alucard to finish, he is working on it now.
edit
btw, that file list is incomplete, you are missing part2.pak, which is on layer1.

Well, I'm using HDAdvance 3.0c and (I think) it has support for DVD9. It says it does, but I'm not sure what it means EXACTLY. So, at worst I would have to flatten it (not downsample) just so it fakes HDA into reading it as a single layer DVD. It will still be a 6 gig ISO but I know HDA works that way for sure. I just don't know about God of War 2. Also, HDA 3.0c was specifaclly patched to work with the GoW2 demo. There was a problem and someone made a patch for HDA 3.0b.
I don't know if that is going to help anyone, but I'm just trying to figure out if it is working with HDA 3.0c and I've seen a few people saying they "heard from a few people" that it works...so any verifcation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time

Quote: Works on HDL!!!
1. Patch image file with toxic dl patcher
2.install image with winhiip_v1.7.6 (not test on hdl_dumx-0.8.5)
3. use HDLoader_0.8b_GOW2.ELF to play
http://rapidshare.com/files/18160662/HDLoader_0.8b_GOW2.ELF.html
Think thats what you were talking about, but i know very little about HD Advance, just remembered seeing this.

You are awesome. I don't think you know how much I appreciate your help. I've been searching for hours learning how to flatten DVD9s and then reading every forum I could think of about HDAdvance. Turns out, I will just have to spend about 30 seconds patching it and thats it!
If you have a 10+ gig hard drive and a non-slim PS2, you could get it up and going pretty fast too. I'll help you out with the details if you need them. It's actually really simple for someone to just tell you the easy way to get HDAdvance working than to search all the forums and stuff. Anyway, mad props and respect for your help. I'll include a post in about an hour I'd say with verification on my end (if anyone cares).
GOOD LUCK TO ALL! THIS WILL PROBABLY BE THE LAST 15 HOURS I SPEND WITH MY "BEST FRIEND" FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS!

I'm pretty sure that's what I needed...still waiting to test. But you said you can't believe you remembered that post...how long ago was it? I know you are talking about GoW2 and so am I. I was just double checking to make sure we're talking about the same game :-)
Also, I don't know much about it, but you can use a USB hard drive for a slim PS2. I'm sure you know that because you seem to be in the scene. Anyway, just let me know if I can help out at all.

Crap, I forgot to ask. I'm a noob here and I can't find where to edit a post!? I know I'm off subject, but this is the only forum I'm active in and I have found tonight that it is more effective than the forums solely dedicated to what I'm trying to do!!! Thanks in advance.
Damn, I just found it right after I asked...sorry to waste anyones time. If a mod can delete this...please do, otherwise maybe it'll help another noob out :-)

the dude posted in like 2 hours ago, and yes for the DVD9 of God of War 2.....i cant remember things since well.....im an alcoholic! LOL
I dont spend too much time with the ps2, if i play a game it is on my flashed 360, and even then that is a rare occasion. Im a poor swap magic user, and find it more fun to rip a game then actually play it, go figure. But thanks for the offer on the help ;)
But yeah, to clarify, we are talking about the same thing.

Well, it's OFFICIAL! I've been playing for the last hour and OMG its bad ass. Where the demo leaves off...it just keeps getting better. Anyway, worked flawless with the method you posted.

I know this thread isn't for HDAdvance but it is the one that helped me! Thanks so much for the input svtstang. It saved me a lot of time!
I hope everything is going well for people trying to use a DVD5.
Peace

I removed part2.pak and rebuilt the disk (just so I could play half the game while waiting for a fully working DVD5). It worked fine until I went to save and the game freezes.
Oh well, not even half a game. Will have to wait for DVD5 (if possible)

Euh Guys,
I remember God of War 1 being on a DVD9 itself. There was about 3 gig or so of useless files.
I remember, at the time it took me 3 hours to work on it, reconstruct the damn thing, and boom it worked perfectly.
So I am assuming God of War 2 will be the same thing, however, I have not yet tackled the game as of yet.
I am assuming this one will take 3 hours to figure out, or I am thinking of a simpler strategy, to cut the image in half, and put it on two DVD5, rather than going through that nightmarish 3 hour rebuild.
Guys, what do you think of splitting the image in half? Is it possible on this one?

Some people are saying that you can run the old toxic on this and rebuild and it plays perfectly... can anyone credible confirm this? I see the same dupes and bonus movies in the pak files...

@hot ice
I dont give a crap enough to extract the .pak files, relinking the .psw's, downsampling the .pss's, etc. I honestly do not have the patience for it anymore! Ill just wait for psycho or someone else talented to make a kit.

Hehe, yeah I said it in another thread.
It works but it's not the whole game, just the first layer.

Do you have a link to the toxix dl patcher?
Also do I need some patch to go along with toxix dl patcher?
Thanks in advance the hd advance is the way I'm going.
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

You HAVE to apply the Toxic DL Patcher to the DVD9 iso before you do anything else. Then it will work.
Google: Toxic DL Patcher.

I applied the Toxic 1.0 patch and then tried extracting the files with Isobuilder, but it's still not listing PART2.PAK (which is about half the disc's size but on the other layer i believe) when I go to extract the files
