Forget extracting the files, you won't get part2.pak on a DVD5.

This is for a layer 0 rip only (half the game)

Apply the toxic patch to the DVD9 iso, use gnie to extract/rebuild. It will result in a 3.97gb iso that is missing the second layer.

Burn it and have fun, you'll get about 6-8 hours of superb gaming before the game freezes due to the second layer being missing.

It's great while it lasts though and hopefully a FULL DVD5 rip will be appear soon.

Everybody needs to show some patience, gnie needs to recode his tool. After combining the part1.pak and part2.pak there is still a problem downsampling the .pss files. Until that is addressed you just have to wait, or buy a damn chip.

the money spent on a chip is well worth it

LOL. yeh, but that doesn't apply to ppl with the big fat PS2 that already is modded with an old chip, like mine is. I don't feel like replacing a working chip with a newer one that plays DL discs. I'll continue my attempts at downsampling the PSS files.

Continue as you will, you arnt going to get far. I have tried 4 apps, Munge o matic, gnie's tool.....it is not going to work. Go play another game for a bit, time to realize we need to wait for the programmers to do what they do best.

After I apply the toxic DL patch and install it with winHIIP, how do i apply the hdloaderv0.8_gow2.elf to the iso? Or is this done before i transfer the file?

goddamn it, sonix needs to update his MoM so extraction of the TOC file works.

EDIT: Last time I checked, I know I can count, but u only mentioned 2 apps. =D

...... means on and on LOL :)

Here is the method i posted in the other thread

Quote:
Ok, i killed nearly 100 soldiers and the colossus of rodos and had to swim a little to get to first save point.
Until now i think there were two or three cutscenes. Game runs like a charme. No stutters, sync-probs or anything until now. Saved my game - this took about 40 seconds to my 32 MB memory card and now i am in a big room with big wheels.

What i did was:
1) patch the original iso with toxic
2) extracted files
3) merged the pak-files
4) extracted files
5) Now the trick to get the movies at 800 MB: Run pssdown on the same files three times. first at 30, 2nd at 60, 3rd at 50%.
6) relinked all psw-files to corresponding pss-files
7) rebuild pak-file
8) exchanged the .toc-file with new one, renamed pak-file to part1.pak
9) cddvdgen
10) put the files exactly at the same lba as you can get from isobuster for layer 0
11) export image from cddvdgen
12) merge .lst-files
13) burn
14) play
Im trying this right now, and will use a save from the end of layer0 to see if it works beyond the established layer0 end point.

They are pretty bad, id say 4 out of 10. But do remember, my iso is 3.97 gigs, so if you downsample less and hit the 4.30 gig mark it might do some good, prolly a 5/10 then LOL. Not totally horrible, but pretty bad.

Im at chapter 3 now, 0 probs at all. Im pretty positive it will work since all the data from part2.pak is present in the iso also.

EDIT

Here is a tut i through together

@Eduino
In apache just right click the iso file, and click switch layers.

depends on which version of apache u use. If u use apache2, then click switch layers to see the 2nd layer. If u use apache3 preview, then just click on Playstation logo and choose extract ALL of the files to get PART1.PAK and PART2.PAK inclusive.

There is somebody who was able to rip the second layer with the capability to continue from last save point from layer 1.

It was posted as a torrent file here: http://www.mininova.org/tor/624965

It was confirmed to work by other downloaders. This is the second part (second layer) of Disc 1 (the game disc). The ripper was able to merge Part1 and Part2 here making it possible to use your save (last save point before the game stopping because of the layer switch) and continue on the second layer.

Hope this helps.

Sorry to go back to the Rogue Galaxy discussion but I'm having some trouble. I used psychospacefish's rip kit and got the 4.33 giga ISO as I should, but I've tried to burn it many times with ImgBurn, DVDDecrypter and Nero 7 but my PS2 doesn't boot the game. I'm using a DVD+RW of the same brand I used to burn GoW2, which worked perfectly. Also, when I put it in my computer I can see the files correctly as I would with any ps2 games. Thanks for your help.
P.S.:It's just the same brand, not the same disc.

+RW are total crap, the ps2 laser HATES them....i honestly have no idea how you got GoW2 working on such media. Use some -R or +R bokktyped as DVD-ROM and see what happens.
