It reads the GoW2 perfectly, and I mean it. I never saw any back-up, done by me or other people work so well. Also, I'll see if I can get a couple of DVD+Rs tomorrow and test it, also, if someone has any sugestions please post them.

Can anyone fill me in on how to fix this please?
AS soon as you see the white screen push the X button on your controller & if game starts go into settings & turn intro movie off. Failing that, use orig game to save to mem card & turn intro movie off.
Hope this helps

I was following along with the GT4 guide but when I hit the step with PSSDown, it gave that ACTIVESKIN.OCX error.
I put the OCX file into the System32 directory but it continued to generate that error even after I did. Is there something else that I should know?
EDIT: Okay, I found out it had something to do with UAC and Vista. By turning it off, it worked.

Ya know, I want to but damnit; it does give me a level of peace-of-mind.
I did end up declining something that UAC notified me about that tried to run without my consent. I don't know what caused it to run but I didn't let it so in the very least, I can say it caught one thing.

Thanks for this information. I followed your examples, and I was able to make a successful backup of my ps2 game. By the way, I was a newbie to this.

Cheers & happy gaming.

[quote=alkohol]Updated 12-26-2005: "How to Book Type via DVD Decrypter when burning/using a DVD+R or DVD+R DL media"
Here is a guide on how to "book type" via DVD Decrypter. This is when you're "ready" to burn to the blank media (DVD+R DL, DVD+R, DVD+RW) only. NOTE: set both of your "source" and "destination" ready, then do the following and burn it. If for some reason the (DVD+R/DVD+R DL) doesn't work for you, then try the (DVD+R/DVD+RW/DVD+R DL - EEPROM!), it should work, if you have one of the drives that DVD Decrypter listed).[quote]Hi man, I tried to do that setting but I coudn't, there was some error, I also have a sony burner. The thing is that when I burn movies using Nero all the DVDs (which originally are DVD+R) are automatiacally booktyped DVD-R, so that means my burner is able to booktype.
any idea?
thank you

hello all, im new to this thread so hopefully i don't sound dumb.
Let me start of by telling you i have swap magic 3.8 (aka CODER) and i want to make a backup of my original so i don't F*** it up. I used the guide on page 5 of this thread and followed it step by step. all file sizes matched including the very last iso file, whch was supposed to be 3.88gbs. When i put it in my ps2 the Sony Computer Entertainment screen shows up as if it were the original, but after that the screen goes black and the laser doesn't move at all, any help or ideas would be much appriciated.

Hi, well if you followed steop by step it should work fine.
I will ask you is this the first time you have backed up a game and used your Swap Magic 3.8. I am just asking to make sure the swap magic works ok. Also if first time are you using the magic keys with SM 3.8 and if yes are they in proper placement.
Other than I can only say try again, jsut in case something went askew.

yes ive backed up over 20 games and i don't know what magic keys are so i don't know if im using them or not. I do have one question tho. do i patch the gt41.vol and the gt4.vol or just the gt41.vol??? it almost seems like its missing a file on how to read the "second layer" if ya no what i mean.

All the files are shown just before step 3 on page 5. You will then only extract GT4L1.VOL Layer with Sonix GRAN TURISMO 4 DVD5 Ripper v1.02 as shown in step 3. That is the second layer.
So like Alkohol said you should have 9 files inside your GT4 extract folder. If you have all 9 then its good.
Yes its just the GT4L1.VOL that you will be patching. Basically we are just shrinking the second layer so it will fit on a DVD 5 Disk.
