but you know ms will charge you for the new drive. your warrenty is out. it will be like 100-150 bucks. bringing a system total to up to 550. thats not good. will the extra space games dont have to be compressed. compression takes longing load times. the read times of bluray far make up for the extra space it will have to read uncompressed. uncompressed also means more detail. look at a bmp, then at a traditional jpeg. see a dif?
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

maybe microsoft should just releace anouther version of the 360 that includes an HD-DVD drive, more chips heatsinked and increase fan speed (those of you who think that would be too loud concider the overheating problems people are reporting, and also remember that its the disc drive that is making all of the noise in the 360,not the fans)and pads at the top of the drive to prevent the "perfect circle" damaged disc problems, and hopefully the drive is more quiet
if any one wants a gmail invite i got like 50
i support xbox 360

Ime fed up of pple treating DVD and blue ray like its the difference between cartridge and cd. It isn't. It just means extra disc space and no 360 games won't be lower in texture detail as they try to cram it on one disc they will just spread it out on two. Simple solution to a simple problem. Blue ray discs do look cool, and lets face it who wouldn't go for blue ray, it has more space (weather or not it will be the next new media or be wholy affordable is another matter). The picture of a blue ray disc i saw was in a plastic casing ike a mini disc which does look good but to buy a console purely because you may have to change discs on certain games is stupid and if you say that is your reason then you are lying because no one I know would choose disc space over a game. Lets put it another way ime in a game store I see the adventures of robin hood or some other piece of crap which got 5 out of 10, I also see baldurs gate, gr8 game 8 or 9 out of 10, ohhhh sh*t five discs for that. Ahhhh robin hood has only one disc, i'll get that piece of t*rd. Make sense? no, it wouldn't happen, multiple discs a bummer yes, but not convincing me or most of the general public not to get a good game when we see one.

yeah i agree with both chimpanel and truthman. i mean blu ray is good and sure i would have liked to see it in the xbox 360 but its not the end of the world and it deffinatly does not mean that the ps3 is better than the xbox 360 b/c after all ps3 consumers will be paying extra for the games and the blu ray so!!
also san andres is a very large game so for it to only take up 4g its pretty good, after all not all agmes use a full sized city. so first of all by the time a game actually takes up more than 9G it will be in like 3 years so we are safe till then, also when it does it will only be an rpg or a game like san andres, and personally they are not my kind of games, i like fps and racing games so i am cool about the dvd drive. as for ps3 i think i know why they used blu ray, i think its b/c they have a lot of games like final fantasy with large levels and i think they want even larger games.

Please STOP with the blue ray
Its a 50gb disc not some super computer. Sure a 50gb disc is better than a 9gb disc but stopping brining it up like PS3 games will be absolutly asome in game and graphics becuase of a 50gb disc.
Chinpanel sum's it up with balders gate and robbin hood so stop brining it up.
Anyway moving along. did anyone take a look at my link?
I found some news on PS3, apparently someone has seen in game deomstrations on PS3 and say they look very good although he is not allowed to mention the games. He mentions how a tree is actualy fully modeled with leaves and branches and if a car was to pass it the tree would react from the wind. He mentions 360 will be able to do the same but becuase the 360 lauch titles where ruched the PS3 launch titles will look better.

yeah when the ps3 launches the games will look better than pdz and call of duty, etc, but when they do actually launch they will have to compete with gears of war which has been given enough time to perfect its graphics, and other games that will be coming out at that time.

god you guys are so ignorant. not many games can be spread out like that. how would u like a game will 3/5 levels and stuff on 1 disk and 2/5 on another, having to switch every time you wanna play an old level. they would have to compress lots or release on 2 games. 2 cd's would not work well with fps, but on an rpg it can. except not at the same time. on an rpg you gotta be able to get everywhere on one disk, and if everywhere o the map takes up 15 gigs thats not gunna be good. imagine a ff game but a real world size with good details, kinda developed like halflife 2. and it loads the distance in once you get closer. that will not work on the DVD9 because the world would take up too much space. just remember, when u use 2 cd's and you wanna play earlier levels or access something else you have to switch disks, so i hope your going to enjoy that.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

anubis, wtf, what did you say, blah blah *gubberish*.
i wont but i know everyone else will seriously contradict you, and point the sh*t from not so sh*t, but there isnt much of the latter, so most of it is sh*t.
by the way, my chicken is pronounced - chickAn (chick *A* n), not chicken. try saying it like that, lol.
^^ of topic, but just for a bit of fun, to lighten the mood, arguing is starting to drag, although IT IS needed i have to agree.
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......
Do not compete without valid correct technicality on your terms of the argument.

Just want to say you are wrong anubis and i can prove you are wrong about the disc's.
The only advatage a 50gb disc has over a 9gb disc is that there will be less discs when it comes to a big game. That is all.

9 gb means less games made. dev teams dont wanna go thru the work. you honestly think an fps would work on multidisk very well withour having to switch every 20 mins? you think the new gta could be multidisked? no because all the travel and diferent areas you can go to at one time. or maybe like vice city where it loads, but what if you accedently cross the line? now you gotta switch and switch back.

Hang on one minute do you work for Rock star? Dont think so.
Again stop with the blue ray.
It is good to have blue ray over DVD9 so you dont have to change disc's (not every 20 mins becuase if that was the case then a game on blue ray would be 1 hour 20 mins, very short dont you think)
Again all it means is swapping discs over, nothing more.

zelda you are stupid. every 20 mins cause what if you wanna play an old level? or if you want a feature that on the other disk? you would have to then swap. and after you play that ld level you wanna pick up your campaign, there is another swap. you tell me to stop with this, but you know im right. and when the mind feels at loss, it turns its head to whatever caused that.

Games go foward not backwards. Ouch why you calling zelda stupid? You dont change every 20 mins. You change it when you need to change it.

According to anubis Ime going to need to purchase in addition to my 360 a personal disc swapping slave who stands by my 360 and swaps the discs over every 20 minutes. I think i know who's the idiot.

yeah they do go forwad. but are you not familiar with say Call of Duty Finest Hour as an example. you play what level is next, but all the levels you played are still listed for if you want to play. what if you like few levels on the first disk?

I have to agree with anubis, who wants to change a dsk if u dont have to. Another plus w/a system w/ either HD-dvd or Blu-ra is when my fingers are bleedin I can pop in a great HD flic and relax. And how can a disc that holds 30g to 50g not be better than 4g to 9g , and dont argue about different games, compare 1 game made for each.Or look at it another way, are you playing games in 720p to 1080p or on my old black n white.

but then how can you tell what game it is? the cd will have no picture on it. alll that could be done is a little insignia of the game title in the center. it would lack luster and appeal. more would have to be done to any type of dvd that no bluray. one burn and its done, not burning multiple disks, no dual sided due to lack of picture. most people will, inclusing i, choose 2 DVD9 over 1 dvd18. plus you still have to flip the dcd, causing just as much effort.

Quote: DVD-18
DVD-18 is a double sided dual layer DVD which can fit up to 17 GB or 15.9 computer GB which some commercial video DVDs are using today (a DVD-18 is basicly four pressed plastic DVD-5s pressed together, they are not burned). Video DVD supports this format but DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W does not support this format.
there are obvious problems there, along with the few i gave.

Some of you still dont get it
What ideot would think that a 9gb disc is better than a 50gb disc? What ideot would think changing a disc would be better than not changing a disc? I know Blue ray is better how can one not?
The question to ask your self is 'would you scrafice a good game becuase its on two disc's instread of one?' 'would you sacrafice a good game becuase you have to change the disc half way through the game?'
If so then you have a mental deficiency. That is what I am try to make you relise.
Finaly again I will say that 2-3 DVD9's does not, I repeat, DOES NOT decrease graphical quality.

Ur right about that one. Lets just end the argument cuz no matter what PS3 games will be on 1 blueray while 360 will have multiple disc (maybe). Graphics will not change just cuz its on multiple discs. Also it doesnt necessary means that as the years go on, gams will get bigger in size. Some of the first ps2 games are as big or even bigger than games released recently. I think its the same with 360 so it should be fine. The only thing that 360 is suckin at is they are in it for the moment, meaning that they just cant upgrade to anything better cuz its power is already limited, unlike the foward looking PS3. Maybe the 360 might have to come out with a different model later on like PS2 did with the slim skinny.

There will be a graphics difference between (the ps3 games) vs the (xbox360 games). (and it wont be difference between power) Multy consols are going to be the same. This is getting foolish, im not even going to bother to explain. Have fun

durr the graphics will be different between 360 and PS3. What im tryin to say is if a 360 game is made on 1 disc and that same game was to be made on 2 discs, graphics will not decrease in quality.
