why would you want to convert DTS to AAC when mkv2vob can convert DTS to AC3?

if you don't have a receiver capable of playing DTS, then in mkv2vob just check the box "Always transcode DTS" and it will convert it to AC3 for you.

but as I said, the PS3 can be tricked into playing DTS in a file. so if you have a capable DTS receiver, then don't check "Always transcode DTS" and you'll have DTS sound.
the reason I wanted AAC is because it is a much better sound than AC3.

Hey thanks lamenting youve been a great help!

Got another question though lol, I have file I downloaded, it is in vc-1 format with ac3 audio, and already is in m2ts, though when I try to play it in the ps3 it comes up as corrupted or unsupported??

I thought i would probably have to convert again, but mkv2vob does not see it or recognize it. How would I convert this if I have to?

and the subtitles I dont need. I have another film I converted but it has subtitles throughout the whole film, is there any way of removing the subtitles, without re encoding the whole thing again. Tried using tsmuxer but it doesnt show the audio. Keep in mind im using the converted files not the original, so the files are in m2ts.

P.s how can the ps3 be tricked into playing dts audio, do you have to en code the whole video?
Thanks in advance!

until the PS3 gets DivX Plus HD certified, the PS3 can't do 5.1 AAC in a file.

so assuming your receiver can't decode DTS (or you don't have a receiver), you're better off converting DTS to AC3 and having surround.

I don't usually mess with VC-1 files, but have you tried re-encoding it to x264 with MeGUI? I'm not sure if MeGUI accepts VC-1 as an input tho.

so tsmuxer wouldn't let you demux the streams and remux without the subtitles? if the subtitles are hardcoded into the video, then you're out of luck I think.

no you don't have to re-encode. just the audio stream is manipulated. it tricks the PS3 into thinking it's playing a 2 channel PCM track (and the PS3 will show 2 Channel PCM), but in reality it's passing the DTS untouched to your receiver (and your receiver will show DTS).

this same trick is used in PS3 Media Server to remux files on the fly to your PS3.

Regarding tricking the ps3 with dts, how do u do that. Do you have to demux the audio file then load that up in mkv2vob or??

make sure "Always Transcode DTS" is not checked, and drag the file in.

OK, I got two simple questions .. please help me out guys, like you always do :)

1) When making a PS3 Compatible AVCHD Disc, is it possible to change the Title of the Disc ? I mean, when I insert an AVCHD Disc in my PS3, it just says 'AVCHD' next to the disc icon. Is it possible to change this to a more meaningful name?

2) Also when making PS3 Compatible AVCHD discs, is it possible to somehow add menus ?

Thanx in advance for all the help :P

1) With AVCHD your are stuck with "AVCHD", when creating your own Blu-ray discs you can be as creative as you wish. Below are pics of my own complilation.

For custom PS3 XMB icons go here.

If you wish to demux your MKV, use MKVextractGUI

was this downloaded via bittorrent? if so, make sure your bittorrent client is closed and try again.

if you have the same problem, it may be corrupted. download the torrent file again, point it to where you have the original file(s) downloaded, and let the bittorrent client hash the files again to check for errors and redownload the busted files again.

and you've stopped your bittorrent client so it's not in use?

if so, then I think the file is corrupted.

Yeah tried it with the newest version link here of what it looks like:
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/5096/captureh.jpg

Yes my client was not even on. I even did a restart no torrent client running but still came up with that error!

Any idea, or is the file corrupted?

That means 2535241855 bytes (2.5GB) in to the movie there is something wrong, bad data possibly. Try viewing the MKV, maybe 25-30% from the beginning of the movie see if there is anything wrong.

Most likely a corrupt file. You may be S.O.L., sorry.

Does this happen when you demux the track using MKVextractGUI? Have you tried inputting the raw AVC file from the MKVextract in to tsMuxeR.

Thanx for pointing that out odin :) ..

Anyways, technically, is there any difference in compiling an AVCHD disc, or a Bluray disc ? Can a 'Bluray' disc be burnt on a regular DVD ? Also, is the process of making PS3 compatible 'Bluray' Format HD Movies any different from making PS3 Compatible 'AVCHD' Format ones .. ?

Hi, I've been trying to include subtitles to a MKV file to be able to play it in a PS3. I've used tsMuxer, with the m2ts, blu ray, avchd and none of them have worked, any ideas? a quick tutorial?

Yes, one is in Blu-ray compliance, the other is AVCHD. Until recently tsMuxeR compiled a hybrid between the two, now you can choose either Blu-ray, or AVCHD as the output. As for the differences between the two, I'm not entirely sure.

Can a 'Bluray' disc be burnt on a regular DVD ?
No, the PS3 will see the disc as a "DATA" disc and not read as it is supposed to.

Also, is the process of making PS3 compatible 'Bluray' Format HD Movies any different from making PS3 Compatible 'AVCHD' Format ones .. ?
None what so ever, other than selecting the appropriate output.
See my comments above.

I order for your subs to appear the resolution of the video must be proper, if it is an irregular resolution they will not display.

Try using the latest tsMuxeR, there is an option to "Insert Blank Playlist", keep that checked and mux your compilation. If that doesn't work try multiAVCHD.
