Why is it when I run the patch in the same directory as my iso I get a file that is 584k? What am I doing wrong? Am I the biggest moron ever? (don't answer the second one please)
Anything can be done, it's just a matter of knowing how to do it.

Hi, here are some options:
First of all I apologize for any grammar mistake, English is not my native language.
The best program to copy pc,ps2,xbox games is (GAMESXCOPY) If you have edonkey file sharing program you will find it there, it comes with the crack. Just install it, copy the crack to your installation folder and enjoy it. Do not touch the default settings, unless you know what you doing.
The second option is to download the game already ripped. You can do this if you have (BITTORRENT) IF NOT
go to http://bittorrent.com/download.html Download and install (It's frre) you can donate to the creator of this program or not, it will not change anything if you don't. Next, go to http://www.torrentreactor.net and on the right side of the page look for GAMES and click on PS2. scroll down and look for mercenaries, click on the arrow pointing down left of the name of the file, save the file in your hard drive (this is a very small file) when done double click on the file in your hard drive and it'll open bittorrent, choose where you want to save the game that comes in a compress file. (you need WINRAR) to uncompress this file and also a NTSF drive disc because the file is 4.52GB and it will not work in a FAT32 drive. In your downloaded game double click (ptc-merc.r00) and choose the folder in your NTSF drive, when done you'll have a (*.iso) file that you can burn with Nero,DVDDECRYPTER,ETC.
NOTE: Torrents are very slow and it depending in your type of connection and how many people are sharing this file is that determine the download speed, I have cable connection and it took me about 14 hours to download but it was worth it.
If for any reason you get disconnected during the download time, just double click your torrent file that you save in your hard drive and choose the same folder that you picked to save this file initially, this will resume from where it was left off.
Good luck, and I hope I explain this clearly

Technically it's not illegal if you already own the original (which I assume everyone here does!) :) But a better program than bit torrent is bit comet, I switched from bit torrent to bit tornado and now bit comet and I will never go back!

ok guys and girls, i think i got it. you have to rename the original iso that was made by decrypter to: ptc-merc. don't put the iso extension on the end. just rename it ptc-merc. its creating it now, i will post my results.. before it only took a second to generate the other iso file which was only 528kb. this time its taking much longer.... even though iam a newbie i will try and help you out, and guide you in the right direction...

homie3368, the iso that the patch created should be burnable and that should be it. everything should be fixed.
if you have the -PROTOCOL release, can you make a PPF patch for other users ? so they don't have to apply the DVDRick fix and need 9GB hd space etc.

According to the users at the beginning of this thread (page 2 or 3) the DVDRick patch worked for the PROTOCOL release of Mercenaries, getting passed the crash.
homie, to make the ppf file, grab this:
http://www.paradogs.com/download/pdx-ppf3.zip
extract it and find the below directory:
\ppfbin\makeppf\w32
copy the makepff.exe to the same directory as the original ptc-merc.iso and the new iso from the DVDRick patch.
then create a new text document in that folder (right-click, new Text Docment)
rename the text document to GO.BAT
right click the GO.BAT and hit EDIT
in the notepad window type:
MakePPF3.exe c ptc-merc.iso DVDRicks.iso mercpatch.ppf
Save it and close it, then double click it and the ppf program should run.
if you do that, it should generate a .ppf file.
if you could email me that ppf file, i'd appreciate it :)
