Just thought I would be the first to post in this new thread.
Just wondered what software everybody uses to backup their PS2 games ??
I personally use DVD Decrypter in ISO Read/Write mode.

Hi there,
Well, I've got a problem in that area. I use Alchol 120% which works fine with DVD's under 4 gigabyte.. because then I'm enabled to create an image. However I use the fat32? system for my HD and it won't support files over 4 gig.
Metal Gear Solid 2 for instance is over 4 gig.. I'd really like to back it up but I can't... copying it on the fly won't work.. because it won't read the sub-channels? or something like that. Also for Dvd's the option to burn PS2 games is disabled in Alcohol.. so I would be very interested to know which programs you guys used to burn games over 4 gig. like metal gear solid 2 or final fantasy X
(if I burn final fantasy X on the fly.. it will load but the game crashes on certain points because it misses some burned information using the method above)
Please help me out ^_^

Marco1982, not sure about that problem mate, I used to use Record Now Max which was 95% ok but since I have switched to DVD Decrypter I haven't had any trouble.
Hope somebody can help you out with that.

hey marco, use DVD Decrypter. For games over 4gig, it will create 2 images and a .mds file. Burn the .mds file and it will link the 2 images together.

I use swap magic 3.0 because i think is easiest and cheapest way to avoid soldering. It also keeps your warranty intact.

Hello People! I had no trouble copying PS2 games before. I have a DVD writer and i use DVD+R. Lately i tried copying ps2 games but my ps2 wont read them. I successfully copy them using my computer but my ps2 wont read it. Is this because new games have like a blocker in them or what? I hope you guys can help me. Thanks!

First of all: Yes I am a newbie.... So, with that out in the open, let me ask my lame question. I've been reading all this about backing up PS2 games and I wonder: Can I just take my original PS2 game and make a direct copy of it (DVD to DVD-R / CD to CD-R of course)? What about patches? Will it work with Swap Magic 3.0?
Thanx who ever replies
/Mikez

Totally agree mate, I have used a few different bits of software and I have found DVD Decrypter the most reliable and it's free, can't moan at that.

There is a problem w/ going online Socom II , you need to use the original (apparently).
To add to what is used for doing a back up of PS2 games ... another DVD Decrypter fan !! (ISO Read > ISO Write).
Has everyone d/l the latest DVD Decrypter 3.2.2.0 ?
