Hi DEEWIZ
No you don't have to have a chip installed, thats just what I did as it is so much easier than messing about with loading games. I sent mine off to be chipped as I didn't fancy soldering the 40 something wires as I am a numb nuts when it comes to things like that.
There are plenty of swap tricks and stuff you use to load games but I don't know them myself as I don't use them but I am sure some nice chaps on here will help you.
You could try searching on Google or somewhere for some advice.
Hope you sort it mate
STEVE

It all depends on the version of PS2 you have. And also it depends on the quality of disc you use.I know that Ridata's +R and -R work exactly the same on PS2.

I found with my V7 that +R disks work 10-1 over -R. Arc the Lad 4 worked well on -R but Hitman Contracts in conjunction with the CDLoader was terrible on the +R format. I get unusual low pitched humming on Hitman Contracts. It is rather unpleasant. With Final Fantasy X-2 I made 5 coasters with the DVD-R format disks. The first attempt of the DVD+R format was a flawless backup. Being that I was just learning the process and all forums suggested DVD-R as the format of choice, I followed the direction of those who trodded before me and went the way of the -R. I use DVD Decrypter ISO read/ISO write at 1x and Imation DVD-R and RiData DVD+R disks. Perhaps the inconsistencies here are incidental to the burners rather that the media.

I new to the forum but not a complete newbie to all this. I am using CD DVD Generator 1.5 to rip Metal Gear Solid 2 and found wonderful instruction on how to do it from PSOWNZ. But I am getting an error when I click on the REC... button. "Total sector exceeds recordable sector". I cannot get beyond this. I patched the cdvdgen.exe (or at least I thought I did) to allow for larger cd creation. I have browsed many forums but couldnt find anything. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm following the tutorial listed here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/42042 I used NewFile to create the three dummy files for disc 1 but that puts the total size back upto 5.99 GB which I understand is not going to fit on one DVDr. This is my first time to split an image across two discs and creating dummy files. Should the dummy files be the same size as the original file or does it matter?

Well hope you can help you all seem like really smart and know what you?re talking about....if im wrong or there is other stuff i need then list some of the good stuff I could use for this...thanks again <(..)>

Don't get games xcopy. DVD Decrypter will work fine for games. Make sure you get a fliptop with swap magic and not a slide card.

I am kind new for this stuff, but I was very lucky that I first used DVD Decrypter. From then, I don't use or worry for other material. When you find something that works it's silly searching elsewhere. I use DVD Decrypter for everything that have connection with DVD(but xbox is the only problem)
By the way, I want to know if there is a PS2 EMULATOR up there.
thanx

swap magic is boot discs. They either come with a fliptop or slide card. Just make sure you get a fliptop. ps2cover.com sells them.
