How do you backup PS2 DVD' games ??

ya but if you use a mod dnas will pick it up wont they, so therefore you have to use swap disc... but i dont want to buy it and not no for sure that it works with online... i mean i want to no for sure it will work when i patch the image and crap for dnas....

Did anyone have problems backing up Hitman 2? and where do you get that patch?

Hey I just backed Hitman 2 up with DVD Decrypter and my PS2 won't reconize it. You having the same problem?

Oner,
I have used DVD Decryptor. I read it as an ISO to the HDD and it gave me 2 files xx.mds & xx.iso I then used same to write iso and selected xx.iso and disc said it copied successfully. Using swap magic & swipe card insert disc . Any ideas?
I also tried Alcohol 120 with no luck
P.S. swap magic 3.0

Can you backup the PS2 Games to a DVD+RW media or does it have to be a -R or +R? I am thinking of using either Nero or DVD Xcopy Platinum. Thanks for the help.

Use DVD Decrypter (it is free) in ISO Write > ISO Read mode...
Also , some older PS2 models do NOT like RW media !; )

Any brand or type of media better than another, I have no clue what the diff is between -r and +r and any of that. Thanks for the help guys. My son just sent us a PS2 that he bought a few months ago and a ton of games, problem is that his sister who is 11 can ruin a cd in about 2 minutes flat. So lies the fate of my old Wing Commander game and the scratched disk 2 and 3 after 3 days of use and $70.

If you have a dual format burner SpongeBobSmartyPants (lol) , then I would highly suggest one of the better Ritek G04 dye blank DVD-R discs...
RiDisc (Ritek G04) DVD-R , Ritek Branded (G04) , RiData (Ritek G04) DVD-R , Ink Jet printables (Ritek G04) etc..
[Stay away from Datasafe & Orange Overprint G04's though]
Verbatim are also a good DVD-R to use [apparently , not tried & tested myself]

Ok Im another newbie. I can copy my movies, and have everything that I need to copy My ps2 games. Is there a URL that anyone can direct me to of the steps that I need to take to make a good copy? Oh yeah and Whats the cheapest and/or the easiest way to alter your PS2 to play the backups.

TDK & Memorex are mediocre at best , there is such media available on numerous on-line stores [I dont drive to get discs]... !!: ]-~
Would offer URLs for online media stores , but it really matters on what country you're in.

I use dvd decrypter as well to ripp and burn ma game's

Thank you very much, and I would like to know if anyone sucessfully backs-up Onimusha 3 so I can put the Original in a glass case with the other two and soon to be, a soul controller if i can get one.

you can use swap magic with cdloader for newer games
or a stealth modded ps2, also you simply cant burn back ps2 games and play online you pretty much have to re author the disc and add crap in patches go here to have a look at some info on it http://www.ps2nfo.com/sitefaq.html

yeah johndv201, but you still need the disc id utility from ps2nfo to get the dnas id.

hi i'm using Nero latest version and i can't make working copies of dvd games. I'm sure that my modchip (messiah2) works well. can anyone tell if there is a special configuration for burning ps2?

smasher, I also have the messiah chip and I just use DVD Decrypter and all of my backups work fine.
I would leave Nero for PS2 games mate and just use DVD Decrypter in Read / Write ISO mode.

With Nero 6 I simple make an image to HD then burn it to DVD-R without any problem which works for me.
