Hey 100th post hehehe. But anyway how do you convert PAL signals to ntsc(for real). I want to play a game in 60Hz not 50Hz. BTW It's GT4: Prologue PAL so there's a little more to it. (It needs two PAL->NTSC screens to work properly)
I use RecordNow Max & Alcohol 120%.
For pal2ntsc there are a few auto patching tools out there i've used that work! I've only used on CD based games, im not sure if there made to work on DVDS.

Hi there,
I am excitedly awaiting delivery of a flip top cover and Swap magic disks so that I can start using backups in my PS2. After reading through various threads in how to backup PS2 games, the message that you must burn the iso image as slow as possible is re-iterated many times.
So I've prepared a backup game using DVD Decrypter to Read then Write the ISO file. DVD Decrypter has an option to burn at 1x when burning which I select, my writer burns at 2.4x instead. (Shown as the actual speed) Does this mean that my DVD writer does not support 1x and the lowest speed you can use is 2.4x? If so, will this be a problem in backing up some games which seem to be more sensitive to the write speed than others? In addition to this, is there a way I can somehow force my DVD writer to write at 1x instead of its standard 2.4x?
By the way my DVD writer is a HP 300i.
Many thanks for any help and suggestions.

sounds like you have a +R writer, and it cannot write at 1x. 2.4x is the slowest these writers can burn, but you shouldn't have any problems with this speed, just use quality media.

If you get a chip then you dont need the swap disks. However, if you decided not to install a chip then you need the swap disks to allow your PS2 to read backups. DVD Decryptor will let you backup your movies, but that doesnt matter as you probably wont have trouble viewing movies. Game backups are where most of the headaches come from for most people. Look here for help backing up your games once you choose between a chip or a combination of fliptop/slide card with swap disks: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/15105

The chips and Swap Magic discs are not free. A chip will run you about $15-$50 US depending on which chip you want and what's compatible with your PS2. I'm not sure how much flip-top covers and Swap Magic discs sell for since I never use them.

First of all many thanks to this site. a week ago my knowledge was nil in this field but now i have backed up all my DVD's successfully and i'm now starting my games.
All my specs are on my signature and i'm trying to backup PS2 to a dvd+rw but with no luck. i have tried
about 5 different games and with all software listed in my signature but evertime i get "Disk Read Error". Could it be that my version of ps2 does not read +rw and i need to go to +r and risk a couple of coasters?
Also could someone please clarify for me with a modchip, do any games need to be patched? or is it just a 1:1 copy for all games.
Thanks for all replies.

your ps2 version will not read anything but -R (you might get lucky and it will read +R).

Thanks Sly, not to crap in you nest or anything but last night I used DVD Decrypter and burned to a dvd+r (instead of the +RW) and she worked a treat.
So to clarify for future readers. In my experience my version 3 PS2 with a messiah 2 v1.31 chip, won't read DVD+RW but it will read DVD+R.
Cheers

All of the itmes mentioned in the above thread [the Japanese Import] should've been contained in an .ISO file themselves sukhas.
If you unrar'd the ISO file you'd be left w/ the contents mentioned... so I hope you didnt delete the single file you uncompressed the files from (?)

I take it you mean CD based games.
DVD decrypter is exactly what it's named a "DVD" decrypter. If you want to do CD based games you need to use Alcohol or Nero or something similar. There are full guides on how to do this at http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/15105
