It sounds like you have a lot of questions, so at the top of the page is a tab labeled guides. Read some of them and a lot of your questions will be answered.
V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

For the very last time use DVD Decrpter in ISO Read then ISO Write mode [it does NOT get any easier] ;-)

As Herbs said, DVD Decrypter is the way to go for PS2 games, it is that easy. ISO Read and then ISO Write.
I don't think that was said in a nasty way mate, I have spoken to Herbs a few times and he is a very helpful chappy :-)

It wasnt said with any maliciouos intent mgb1921 BUT it would seem that no-one ever bothers to use 'search messages' function.
And the question you asked HAS been asked like hundreds [if not thousands] of time before... please don't get sharp with me either because I do this in my own free time & for no wage !!
Read the forum rules btw (if not having done so already)

well I got the DVD Decrypter and I think it worked right it said that the 2 steps I did were successful so im guessing it worked but I did have a Q usually you can tell when something is burned on a disc like for ex: I know that when I burn a DVD when you look on the back you can see that part is lighter and the other darker you know that it burned onto it because of that. So I was wondering that when you make a ps2 backup copy with the DVD Decrypter can you see thows same markings or is there nothing at all because the only way for me to know if it worked is by that cuz I have not purchased a flip top or mod chip yet. Hope you under stand and can help me with this issue.

No & no would be the answer to that ... either try the back up in a friends chip/mod'd PS2 [if you know of anyone obviously] or finally get round to getting yourself a chip or flip top cover because no one can answer your question truthfully as it'll merely be just speculation. ;-)

The flip top conversion has limits , for example you may need a seperate CD/DVD Loader for certain games + using PS2 Reality Media Player you'll be limited to using 650mb CD-Rs instead .... so as always I advise you to get a proper chip installed !!
If you don't feel confident of doing it yourself then search Google.com & find a shop that will do it for you...there are many of them.
No more ignorant questions now , that's your lot ... as you COULD have found these answers & many more besides if you had of just looked thru this site.

Hi all,
Very new to this site and been reading and trying to burn PS2 backups. As suggested, I used the DVD Decrypter to rip to ISO and write to DVD-r (RiDATA - printable white surface). I have my PS2 since the very 1st day it's released and modded with a neo chip. Load most of my bought backup DVD games using the gameshark (swap method)fine. But when I tried to load the burned backups from mine, it's not loading at all. Help and thanks so much.

Im trying to create a back up copy for my game NBA Ballers and im getting an error message. (I/O) after inserting the game in my dvd drive, i open the DVD Decrypter and it shows the error message. Everytime i try to open Decrypter it shows the error message. But once i take the game out of my dvd drive everyting works fine. i mean DVD Decrypter opens fine. No error message or anything. Do you guys have any idea whats going on with my comp? Is it the game? is it because PS2 put a blocker to in the DVD so burning programs cant read them? Or is it because of my DVD drives, but by the way i've already backed up couple of my games and they're working fine. Please help me!!!! Thnak you!

I'm a newbie to backing up my PS2 games. I never thought about it until I almost lost one of my beloved fighting games (MvsC2). Anyway, I don't have a chip in my PS2 and never considered getting one. Is a chip manditory to play back-up games? Thanks for your help.
I try to leave, but I keep getting pulled back in!

I've tried to back up Need for speed underground and LOTR Return of the king but they both come up with I/O error messages at about 87% of ISO reading. I've tried Nero and it copies the dvd but ignores the errors and the game doesn't play properly on PS2.. Does anyone share the same problem or have a suggestion to overcome it?

Hey 100th post hehehe. But anyway how do you convert PAL signals to ntsc(for real). I want to play a game in 60Hz not 50Hz. BTW It's GT4: Prologue PAL so there's a little more to it. (It needs two PAL->NTSC screens to work properly)
