Originally posted by rasputini: I think something might be wrong with my ripping. I'm following your steps with schtrom, but it's telling me its not a valid 360 ISO. I guess I'll have to be one of these ppl who has to outline every little thing. hahah OK here it goes:
1: place real DVD in drive (DL DVD; I'm using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the new one)
2: Once the disc loads, open wxripper
3: Click "Find Magic Number;" it does so
4: Save layout, open, change third line C to capital D, save again
5: Stop drive, remove disc, place 360 in
6: Load altered layout file, spin disc, start dump
7: It rips and I have an ISO
Now what I was doing before was then:
1:Open up XBOX360 Backup Creator, go to Image Tools and press inject
2:Inject SS,PFI,DMI files that i found from http://www.ss.softmodfiles.net/
3:Stealth checked, and it said it passed, though video partition was questionable
4: burned (I've burned other back-ups, so I know that's not a problem.)
So now you see what I'm doin... WHAT THE @#$@ !!!!!!!
Oh btw, a friend of mine is able to do it, but he doesn't do anything with the layout file. He hits stop drive, but it keeps spinning, he swaps, and it rips perfectly. I tried this too, but it got stuck on the third section at 89088 EVERYTIME. He also told me that the disc name should be blank after stopping the drive, mine still says charlie and the chocolte factory.
Thanks for the patience.
I had the exact same problems when I started ripping games. Your doing everything the right way to make the initial ISO. Sadly to say your injection process messed up the ISO. Erase it and make a new one. Schtrom should now see your ISO as a valid 360 ISO. See if you can extract the game.iso. It should work. If not let me know.

Not sure. I've never used that feature. Your best bet is to take the top off and do the hotswap. When you eject the disc the pc can see this and it wont read the 360 game when you insert it. I could be wrong but if the emergency eject worked then someone would have mentioned it before. Can't hurt to try it though. None of this would of ever happened without lots of trial and error.

I told you step by step what to do. If you follow my instructions then you will have a working back up. I can't help you if you don't try.

Ok I backed up mass effect using this method and it worked fine for me.
When opening dvdmulleter your clicking view iso right? Then once loading the ISO your clicking the tab at the bottom that says crc? Then clicking auto fix? It should then say there is no valid ss would you like dvdmulleter to find one for you? Click yes. Then it will scan the data for like 10 mins and then another window opens. Click yes and then it should download and patch the video, ss, dmi ect, ect.

Well I did get it to work, though that didn't happen. What I did was:
1: Ripped with wxripper
2: split with schtrom360 and get the game.iso
3: injected ss, dmi, pfi into the game.iso file with xbox360 backup creator
4: used dvdmulleter to put in the video partition. and it worked.
But before i injected the files with backup creator dvdmulleter wouldn't do anything. It would just say files not found (after doing the search) Thanks for your help, I'm gonna try this method out on a couple others, and I'll let ya know how it goes.

when I try it with the same steps I get a CRC @ 0 error. every sector that has copy fails. I guess it could be because its not possible, i just wanted to make sure this wasn't normal before I break down and get a kreon drive

Hey, I've run into a snag with the patching. I've outlined the steps that i took before, and it worked perfectly for Mass Effect and Dead Rising. I went to do Bioshock, and some others the same way, but when i go to inject the extracted game.iso file with the ss, pfi, dmi files, it says unable to detect xbox iso file... Anyone know what to do?

do you need to have a mod chip on your 360 for the games to work?

Hey I figured out what was wrong... Or at least how to fix it.
As for you Bullet169, I outlined my steps somewhere above, though i found that sometimes a few extras need to be thrown in. So here it is:
1: place real DVD in drive (DL DVD; I'm using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the new one)
2: Once the disc loads, open wxripper
3: Click "Find Magic Number;" it does so
4: Save layout, open, change third line C to capital D, save again
5: Stop drive, remove disc, place 360 in
6: Load altered layout file, spin disc, start dump
7: It rips and I have an ISO
Now the patching:
1: Use Schtrom360; go Tools, "image inject/extract;" (the default I believe is set to inject, change that to Extract)then where it says video.iso click on the little tab menue and go all the way down to game.iso (This is about in the middle of the little window, and remember to have it on extract). Put in your ripped iso from wxripper, and choose a destination, click start. It'll tell you that a bunch of files are missing. Just click ok for all of them and it'll start.
2:Open XBOX Backup Creator and see if you can inject the SS, PFI, DMI files under the "Image Tools" section (don't forget to change it from extract to inject). If you can, great, if not follow this next step.
3 (NOTE: Only do this if it says the image is not a 360 image): Open DVD Mulleter and go to view image. Load. Then go to CRC check and click "auto-fix" it'll so some stuff and might take a few min. At the end it'll say something like "could not find the requested files." For some reason this all of a sudden makes xbox backup creator read it. Close the DVD Mulleter and go back to xbox backup creator and inject the SS, PFI, DMI files.
4: (This is to be done even if you dont need step 3): Open DVD Mulleter, go View Image, load the image you injected the patches on, go to CRC and click auto-fix. It'll load for a bit and when it's done it'll say some files now match. Click OK, and you're set to burn.
I'm not going to outline the burning process cause I'm sure there's a bunch of ways out there to do it. This ripping and patching process has worked for me on a number of back ups... Oh and yes you still need to have your drive ripped out with the top loose enough to easily take off to swap. If there's anything that doesn't make sense, let me know.
(Since this is my post I'm not gonna bother to quote it... It's also altered)

Are you talking about flashing your xbox? Cause this thread is on ripping and burning backups.... I don't know the first thing about flashing... Just pay 40$ to get someone else to do that.
