One more question before I decide to order these. Gold shiny or Gold matte top surface? I prefer a matte one as shiny shows fingerprints.
Never mind. I just checked the link again & the discs on the front of the package look like Gold shiny surface......

Matte gold tops and the usual TY 16x blueish purple color on the bottom . . . as opposed to being 'silver lacquer tops"
. . . and by the way, you're all welcome

Yes I remember those 4x Maxell TY yellowtops & they were really great discs. Have many of them myself that were burned years ago. Hunted down all I could in the stores until the supply ran out.

Or just order from the web store & pay the standard shipping. That's what I'd do if I didn't live in or near Houston like I do now.

@ZoSoIV. . I suppose that if you wanted to purchase a bunch of stuff at MicroCenter, you could always drive to Cincinnati . . I used to live in Anderson and I believe that it took about 2 hours to make Cincy . . .

ok, I'm excited... but should I be looking at +R or -R? I mostly use them for DVDs to play in a stand alone DVD player. I've been using -R. Which is correct or preferable?

-R Taiyo yuden discs are GREAT! +R Taiyo Yuden discs are arguably even better. The same can be said for Verbatim discs. But, since Verbatim is employing Ritek dyes (F16), and CMCMAG, it's hard to say. But I imagine the general consensus is that +R's are better.
+R's do have a certain advantage for older players. You can close the disc (Bitset) to DVD-ROM making the player think it's a genuine industrial disc :)
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

"better" how?- do you mean by virtue of what you cite (for older players, closing disc, etc) or in other ways too?
I gather there may be a problem with the dyes in Verbatims? What's the result? (I haven't been here in a long time...)
What's the benefit of pretending to be a genuine industrial disc?

+R discs clearly have better burn quality. Which suggests better longevity, assuming of course one takes care of their discs. However, I have not had a problem with -R discs. If I saved a dollar going with -R taiyo yuden discs, I would not hesitate. I've read mixed reviews about -R verbatims. But if you have an excellent burner, I would not worry too much ;) My NEC Optiarcs are A-MAZ-ING! The same goes for my LG BD burners. Which apparently their chips come from the same company :)
