The reason for the Update Loop is you remove the update when you patch the game, you need to update it manually via usb stick or cd.
Or you could rent the game and update that way ;)

Thank you for posting this. Its been very useful for me. I am already banned, so not concerned about live, and I've had a lot of problems with the activate iso disk. It was only working sporadically, acting as if most of my disks were scratched. It was especially annoying because even if the activate iso disk would work, half the time the game itself would fail to load or give a dirty disk error then when i took it out to clean it, I would have to go back in start over with the activate iso disk. Obviously its far easier for me to just patch the games down to Wave 3 before burning, and then I have no problems at all, they load up on the first try every time.

Hello, I recently burnt Bioshock 2 and Dante's Inferno and switched them to wave 3 as usual and got stuck in the update loop you mentioned during your last post and am just wondering what exactly i need to update, is it game updates so i need 2 different updates for each game or just 1 update and both will work, I'm banned and I've been trying to find the update/updates i need to play these everywhere with no luck what so ever. I read earlier in the post where your talking about the fall 09 update and how to do it but Assassins Creed 2, Darksiders, MW2 all worked fine for me so I assume i already have that one, I'll probably try renting them later and trying it that way if i can't get it to work with a usb/cd but I'm real curious as to what exactly needs updating and would honestly rather not have to rent them. Man theirs nothing more annoying then loading up a game you just burnt, having it ask you to update, clicking yes eagerly waiting for it to finish just to have it reboot and ask you again hahha I even signed up to the site just to ask you about it and would really appreciate your help. Another thing that's really strange is that both games load up fine if i remove my hardrive from the console but i wasn't about to try to go for it in 1 sitting with no saves haha

If you open the iso (before you patch it ) in daemons tools or something similar then you cany copy the update folder to your pc, then simply burn to a cd or stick it on a usb stick and install.

Man i just can't get it to work, Ive tried with usb stick and cd and it always just says mixed media disc with the cd and i can see the file on both the usb stick and the cd in the video and music sections but i don't know how to get it to update. I thought it would just load up when i started the console but it doesn't. Any idea's of what i'm doing wrong? I don't get why the games will load up without my hard drive in but wont without it, unless it has something to do with saving it the hardrive, I'm banned btw if that matters. What i don't understand is how I seem to the be the only one having this issue since i can't find anything about it on the net, when something like this happens it just drives me crazy until i figure out what im doing wrong, hopefully i can rent 1 of the games and fix it that way but it's just gonna drive me crazy if i do it that way.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I am going to just try going through the iso and pulling out the update and putting it on USB. For whatever reason mine won't update via USB to begin with so this all seems kinda pointless. Worst comes to worst, I will just re-burn it without patching and just use the activate.iso

Dude if you already got a disc burned with the Wave4 or Wave5 compaitable mode then when you put your DVD in the computers DVD-ROM you should find a folder called "$SystemUpdate" copy the contents of folder into USB and connect it it your Xbox it should take update. It worked for me. I bought a burned DVD of ME2[Wave5} and my firmware is 1.5 so i have coverted it to Wave 2 and then burned the disc. The Same F***ing Updated loop was encountered. Then i followed above steps and yes it worked for me.
Remember to copy the contents of the folder onto the USB.
If you got the iso as sicdude said If you open the iso (before you patch it ) in daemons tools or something similar then you cany copy the update folder[$SystemUpdate] to your pc, then simply copy the contents to usb stick and install.

well i downloaded left 4 dead 2 and patched it to wave 2...i didnt notice there was a system update folder...after patching it to wave 2 the folder disappeared...so i re-patched it to wave 4...the folder was there but copying the folder to usb had no effect for me...did the patching proccess damaged the files? do i have to download the game again?

yea ive tried everything, I've redownloaded the games and tried updating with usb stick, cd, everything i could think of and i can't get it to update. I opened up the iso with deamon tools put it on a USB stick burnt it to cd multiple times, i tried it with Mass Effect 2's update folder Dante's Inferno's, Bioshocks, all of them hahha nothin. I went to my local rental stores today trying to find one of the games with the update and none of them had 1, i think tomorrow i'm gonna go to gamestop and try to find one used and bring it back after i update with it cause i've given up on trying to get it to work. I burnt the activate disc, that didn't work either, of course i haven't tried reburning it at the normal wave 6 and trying the activate disc that way but does it even work for wave 6 games on 1.51? I actually cant even remember if i have 1.5 or 1.51, all games have worked fine changing them to wave 3 up to these last few with the update. Up to Bayonetta and Darksiders they worked fine, and the games i have burnt with the updates oddly work when i take my hardrive off my console, wich i don't get. I wanted to ask 1 last thing that i thought of, the usb stick i've been trying to use is actually a usb stick that you plug a micro sd card into and the micro sd card is what holds the info and i was just wondering if that mattered, i don't see how it would but i figured i'd ask.

Zebric, i actually think Left 4 Dead 2 is different cause that works for me fine, I'm pretty sure with Left 4 Dead 2 you need the latest NXE and you should be able to update that with USB or CD. I have a feeling that my update won't work because it's not a new NXE it's just a little update that you get with the newer games and because of that it won't load right up like a normal update does (just a guess) but if you backtrack in this same thread sicdude gives you links to the update and tells you exactly how to do it.

actually my console runs the new NXE...but wont update with usb..i didnt burned the game (left 4 dead) yet cause i dont want to destroy any dvds...but maybe i'll do it tomorrow to see what happens...

Hi Everyone,
I can also confirm that Dante's Inferno worked. For those having problems just patch it to a wave 2 game (only if you have iX less than 1.6) Dante's showed as a wave 4 game for your information. Also the game is rated 18 for a reason, so for all the kids out there if you're caught playing this game infront of your parents and an explicit comes up (trust me there is loads) expect your xbox's to be confescated lol Great game though.
I'm downloading BioShock 2 now.
Banned on iX1.5 Liteon. Currently wants to buy a new xbox but does not understand how all this flashing works and will not pay £40 to get this xbox flashed again.

i couldnt update my dashboard via cd or usb too and bugged me for days. the reason is i didnt need to. ive got a arcade console dunno whats in it coz it was a purchase of ebay just labelled "special 360" it had no hard drive but cod worked on it and assins 1 and 2 but other games wouldnt. So i thought i will buy another one an elite 120 hdd 2 "special again" and the games that wont work on the core work on the elite. now i use this wave patcher ( both consoles never came up as update now) and happy days what a great mo fo of a programme. saw works:) and bio shock 2 finished today patched it to wave 3 now the elite loves it:) didnt get the programme from here but its good that your giving the heads up coz its the muts nuts

If people are having trouble updating to play a game, then if one of your friends can play it using there console and h/drive, take your h/drive off your console and attached to there console, this will then update your h/drive. Attach your h/drive back to your console and you should be ok to play the game.

So you bought another xbox? Why are you converting games to play in the new Elite you just bought? Does it not have the newest ixtreme? Not very special if it doesnt even play newer waves.

hey guys
I have GTA episodes from liberty city on a DVD patched to wave 3 cause LT wasn't released then
but when I patched it back to wave 4 and ran abgx scan it shows everything is perfect to go online
so can I play it online after being patched to wave 4 or I will get banned as the program I use has a warning about patching waves????

Hi guys,
only just stumbled across this forum, and this patcher looks like exactly what I'm after for easily fixing new games.
But when I try and download the file from megaupload using the link on the first page of the thread, kaspersky jumps all over it saying it has a trojan in it.
Anyone else had this?

I can confirm it is not a trojan. There will be an option for you to permit access. Or just de-activate your antivirus. The member that posted this program (sicdude) has a great reputation- he would have been booted if this program is malicious.

Sorry, I should have made my post a bit clearer. I wasn't trying to imply that sicdude had uploaded a dodgy file. I've read through the entire thread and it's obvious he's highly thought of on this forum.
I was just looking for confirmation that the problem was at my end, which seems to be the case :p

@ dodeoegg the elite was off ebay not brand new dont know what its flashed with but it works with this patcher and yes i bought another one for upstairs and one for downstairs. and even if it doesnt have latest firmware it doesnt need it with this patcher. I am special

Hope you got it for a special price, as prices for Elites are dropping at retail so you could have got a new one and had that flashed with up to date firmware. Remember that no matter how special a second hand xbox is- it is not immune to the RRoD, whereas a new one would have probably had a Jasper chipset.

yeah was 80 quid 120 hdd one controller ten games so not bad i guess. not gonna get a new one with 120 hdd and flashed for under 200 quid so thats kinda special isnt it

I'm guessing they were special games too, so at 50p per DL disc the 10 games would only cost £5.
I would be suspicious of the insanely low price of £80, most likely it is a unit that has had the RRoD and now been given a temporary boost of life via either the X-Clamp "fix" or the towel trick.
But if I'm wrong and the item lasts as long as a new elite then 80 quid is a bargain! Lets just hope that the wave converter can convert all future waves.
