It will do the exact thing(s) the current HDloader/HDadvance does on original PS2, that is copy games directly to the hard drive then allow you to boot/delete/rename etc.

Just google for info with key words like

USB LOADER for slim PSTWO

Retro gaming, some people will never "get it".

You need a network adaptor to use the PS2 HDD first of all. You connect the HDD to the NA and then you connect the NA to the DEV9 expansion port on the PS2. What program are you talking about? HDAdavance?

How long does it take to format a Maxtor HDD in a PS2 with HD Advance? I have a modded PS2 and it reconized my Maxtor HD and automatically the "prompt" screen came up and the "please wait, formatting HDD..." message is on my screen. It has been like this for over 2 hours. I do not think it should take THAT long to format this drive..........HELP!!

Should I try to format this for PS2/HD Advance/HDD use inside my PC instead?

leesh-thanks for the tip. the drive should be new. I actually formatted it inside of my PC with the WinHIIP PS2 utility. After formatting it, it looked like a valid PS2 format HDD. I installed it into my PS2 (v7 with Mod & the Network adapter that has phone/dial-up port and also CAT5/Ethernet port).
HD Loader and HD Advance both freeze at start-up. Before I formatted this drive, both HD Loader and HD Advance (1.0) would prompt me to format, and then the format would begin, but never end.......help!

Hey I've been googling for a while now and reading various fourms....And yes this must sound very newbie lol but oh well, I'd rather speak out and get some of my Questions answered once and for all, since other fourms have confused me.

1) You can use HD Advance 2.0 on a completly unmodded PS2 correct? (including a correct hard drive and adapter)

2) Using a cross over cable I can download games using a program mentioned earlier in the thread to download games onto my Ps2 hard drive? (of course it's illegal unless i own the origional game first)

3) I've heard you can download HD Advance, but the only way to get that to work is to use swap or modchip method?

4) I'm not sure if this is allowed, but does anybody know the site of a HD advance 2.0 seller that won't con or scam you? Perferably one I can use paypal with.

I thank all those that help me with my Questions.

you need an official sony playstation2 network adaptor. If you intend to play online there is a difference between what type you can buy. there is ethernet only which only works with a broadband connection but if you can find an ethernet + modem model you can play using any dial up connection or broadband if that makes any sense. i think the second one costs a bit extra but if you only have access to dial up i would go for it. And hey im sure most online gaming stores are legitimate sellers unless there site looks like a home made overnight job, buy from one.

I checked out www.linker4u.com and their products are a tad bit more expensive than consolepoint.com plus they are located over in hong king, unlike consolepoint.com which is in Canada.
