so i really hope that the pelican is a usable vehicle in halo 3, especially for the larger maps. also, the luxury warthog as seen in coag would be a great unlockable!

I think that there's just so much demand for the Pelican that Bungie will at least try to incorporate it; if it's just something that won't fit into gameplay (like the Mongoose), then it won't make it in, but they'll probably try.

Don't feel stupid (it's relatively unknown), it was the ATV vehicle that they tested in Halo 2. Since it just didn't feel a need or work well as a complement to other vehicles, it was dropped. If you have the Halo 2 Collectors Edition, you can see it on the bonus DVD in the Cutting Room Floor section.

Actually the ATV was dropped because Bungie:
1) Didnt have enough time to put it on the CD as a finished vehicle
2) Bungie couldnt get the physics to work correctly with the very unstable ATV.

For instance when the ATV was driver around a corner it would easily topple over, and they couldnt correct it.

i used to play atv offroad fury for the ps3. it was fun but the online died or something
and you know the reviewers that work on what will be put up about e3 on xbl will be by far partial to the 360, fidning everything that may make the ps3 look bad and overexploit it to the simple minded.
im sure g4's website will have the show up for download, but if not im sure it'll be on the web.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

I dont want to go off topic however Im sure the PS3 will be amazing, but it will cost far to much. For instance the HD-DVD players have a intel pentium 4 chip in them, now for a technology not as advanced as the Blu-ray players it will cost a lot. A HD-DVD player can cost around $500. This therefore makes me wonder if the 360 will ever get them.
Any way moving on. Halo 3 will be good :)

and my moment of off-topicness..
the blueray is owned by sony, and the cell is aswell, so they are basically royalty free. the manufacture of bd-roms is cheap and is little more than a dvd, but the players are harder to make being a smaller laser technology, so the ps3 may have problems is failing drives if the factory has any small flaw. i dont see the ps3 costing too much really, maybe retail at 450-500 and manufacture cost to be about 525.
k, so anything new about halo 3 or is there still absolutely nothing going on with it? someone would have snitched something by this time, but if they did it may have been dismissed as a rumor. i think they are working on something else at the time, and halo 3 is under second priority.

A quad is the same as a ATV.
Also I dont think there will me any aliens vs predators in Halo 3 :P
I think Bungie will however try to sqeeze the ATV in. :)
Also it does have handles on top of the dash board, so the driver would ride it like a motorcycle.

They didnt include it because there is no point. It would unbalance the game and it simply doesnt work with the physics they have on the game. therefore they couldnt.

They have Havok physics - the best there is lol. Its just the way it is designed - the ATV it comflicts with other vehicles etc. its complicated.

the unreal engine pwns them all for flexibility, and the source engine has the most tweaks for gameplay.

sorry to post this so late... but i noticed on the first page someone said tom clancy games have less control over the character... has anyone here played G.R.A.W yet? NO SENSITIVITY SETTINGS!!!!!! why you might ask? simple. no one.. i mean NO ONE can complete a 360 spin while holding a gun in a firing ready position in a split second.

To papa_face: keep in mind, the only advantage Blu ray has over HD DVD is disc space, and you could definitely say that the few extra gigs is not even needed.
To anubis66: Unreal is a graphics engine, not physics.
If you think about the ATV, it doesn't make sense. The military today doesn't use ATVs in combat; why would in the future against a much better enemy? But back to the Pelican (the start of this Mongoose tangent), that would make sense. It would allow for battles on a more epic scale, and increase the strategy in MP matches. The only real questions are balance issues, but those could be tweaked to keep it fair.
