wow 14 pages, that's a big one!!
i never considered flip-tops for my ps2, i was always looking for solder on chip, i want to get a magic 3.1, but there seem to be many bugs with it. don't want to spend all the money on it and a dvd-burner and end having 600$ worth of nothing.

GTA III Update: here is what I posted in my other thread, but us flip top guys seem to always come back here, so I'll put it here once. Normally wouldn't do this, but for the sake of this thread I must ;-).

Ok, finally got RecordNow Max, v4.5 and during the build of the .gi file GTA III still hangs at 20% (894.94MB of 4,426.00MB) just as it did with DVDDecrypter, so my favorite backup sw is not the problem. Looks like a problem with my disc or Rockstar has done something that does not all one to back this bad boy up.

Has any one tried the swap magic disk without the flip top cover and the no solder mod chip. Because I ordered the disks and I wanted to know if it works just with the disk. I have a playstion 2 version 7. Os 98 se, 1.5 ghz, recordmax 4.5, DVD+R/W nec 1100a, and 640 sdram.

you can use just the swap magic discs and no chip or fliptop with the swipe card. but you cant just boot from the swap magic then open the tray and pop in your backup, opening the tray is the reason we need the chip or fliptop. the no-solder chip puts the board in a suspended state, allowing the tray to open and close without the board looking for the boot sectors of the game again. swap magic provides the boot sectors, and the flip top or no-solder chip allows you to load the backup in combination with those boot sectors. according to the board, the swap never happened and the tray never opened.

I recently purchased a flip top cover for my v1/v2/v3 ps2(not sure which one, but it's one of those). Obviously I had to purchase the 10 screw version. Could some one please tell how to properly operate the flip top cover backups? Also, could some one please tell me if it's possible to still use the network adapter for ps2 with a flip top cover(it seems that the flip top cover, covers the slot where the adapter plugs into the ps2)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Also, if someone could give a website or something where they tell you how to install it, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

i kow baysoftgames.com was advertising them for 39.95 for the cover and swap magic discs, but i know nothing about that site so i can say that you should order from there. it might be 100% legit, but i have never used them so i cannot give you an opinion.

Got mine from http://www.ModChipKits.com , $29.99. I had no problems with them, but some people are here have had a little trouble. So you may want to go back through this entire thread (or at least start on page 10) and you'll find some info on this.

Direct link to filptop page: http://www.modchipkits.com/pages/ps2cover.htm
Good luck.

You could always go to http://ps2case.com/ That is where I purchased mine, of course they have free shipping at the time but if you get the combo it is not to bad and they give you a tracking number the same or day after you purchase from them.

Hey everybody!
I was just wondering if I should buy a Messiah 2 mod chip or a Flip Top Cover?

I'm guessing a Mod chip but i'm not 100% sure!

IF someone could tell me which 1 I should get that would be helpful!

Thanks!
