it depends on what you want, if you can solder or get it soldered, and how much you want to spend to mod your system. fliptop people will say to get a fliptop, chip people will say to get a chip, but it's really up to what you want.

Hello All, I would like to know if any of you have used the Meritline media (DVD+R) I was using the BeAll media but they are very expensive now; also do you have any opinions on the Fuji, I know BestBuy has them on sale right now.

ive used fuji +R's from the start of it all. Never had a coaster due to a bad disc
always boot if burnt properly.
i give um an A+ :)

Dills, where do you purchase these fugi+R's. My last batch was a 15 pack of Memorex DVD+Rs and I have had zero problems.... only bonehead mistakes by me to cause a coster... :-)

Hey guys, I finally got my flip-top and swap magic discs from modchipkits.com, only 2 1/2 weeks on priority shipping. Anyway's I installed it with no problems, and tried playing my original import of ddrmax2. The swp magic dvd booted and it said 'insert disc' so I went to open the flip top but the dvd was still spinning and being read by the ps2. I'm pretty sure this isn't normal, if anyone knows what could be causing this I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks.

i'm guessing it might be a bad disc. what does the cd disc do? does it do it all the time or just once?

I haven't tried the cd disc I'm at work, but I will when I get home, and I'll let you know what happens. I'm also going to try the dvd again, because I was in a rush lats night when I was trying to get it to work. So maybe thats what was causing the problem.

Hey guys. I have a problem. I have the Swap Magic boot disk, I have a Fliptop Cover, and I have a DVD Burner. I can burn and play my ps2 CDR backups but I can't play my DVD R backups. The wierd thing is when I try to burn my DVD Games it will only burn the games to a DVD+RW (Maybe a DVD-RW, I haven't tried) I have tried to burn games to DVD-R and DVD+R in which my Burner doesn't recognize either types of those media. I have heard on this thread and many other threads that the ps2 will be able to play DVD+RW so I tried it and it didn't work. I tried burning the game using Nero, I have V5 (maybe 6) ps2, and the only type of DVD media it would burn my DVD game to was a Memorex DVD+RW Disc. Does any body know what my problem is? Also I don't want to resort to Ripping the games but if anybody knows of an easy way to do so that would be great. Thanx.

I was wondering when the swap magic version 3 discs will be coming out and Dills your right I never got a DVD+RW to work

always rumors about swap magic coming out with new version....
if they dont there is a new company making discs that are suppose to be much better.........we will see
if i ever see new info on it I will be sure to post it for everone.
I would also be inclined to buy a ton at a discounted rate if i knew a lot of people wanted them.
would even put them on ebay for you guys if you felt safer that way.

I have a version 7 ps2. I have a couple of questions about fliptop covers. Does GS version 2 work for a boot disk, or is it necessary to buy swap magic? Can you use dvd-rips over 650 mbs?

either work i think swap magic is better...but it does not play dvd rips.
i think gameshark is needed if you want to play dvd rips

i would always say if you dont know how to solder, dont try it and ruin your stuff.

Ok I am new to all of this. I want to get a fliptop for my ps2. How easy is it to install?? What is the cheapest place for me to get the fliptop and the swap disks?? Also is there anyway possible for me to copy my games and burn them without a dvd burner?? I doubt it but is there any programs or anything that will do that?? I have a cd burner. Also will burned online games play online?? (If i download or burn madden 2003 will it be able to play online)
I know i can download a lot of games off of mirc but most of those games all the fmvs are cut out!

O and what blanks do i need?? what brand is the best and can i use regular 80 min blanks to burn the games?? And what programs are the best?? I have recordnow and nero!

check the tutorial on top of the PS2 forum. you'll find about every answer you need in there. - yeah the flip to is an easy install, takes about 5 minutes

Sry about that. I don't download games just saying that they are there. I know that didn't even make sense. Ok so online will work. And what about dvd games?? I have devil may cry and i want to copy it and burn it. Devil may cry is a dvd based game right?? I don't have a dvd burner just a cd burner. Now that i think about it i might have a dvd burner. Well my computer can play dvds. All well guess i got to check that out i never tried to copy a dvd. But i doubt it. So is there anyway i can copy devil may cry and then burn it?? Or could i make devil may cry into a iso image and then copy it to a blank?? Also what are the best programs to do this?? I have recordnow and nero!
